I use the service to print my colouring books. The quality is exceptional. I wish the pricing could be a bit better and I also wish that they’d open the global market more easily to somebody that does colouring books instead of novels but to have it go through my own website. I have no issues.

However, it is important to note that Lulu does not set the requirements for retail distribution. The retailers and distribution partners themselves establish the guidelines and eligibility criteria that books must meet in order to be accepted for sale through their channels. As a distribution provider, our role is to communicate those requirements to authors and publishers and to help ensure that projects submitted through our platform meet the standards established by the retailers. Unfortunately, we are not able to override or modify these requirements, nor can we require a retailer to accept a book that does not meet their specifications. Access to Quality even with only one book printed
I was grateful that even though I had several things slightly amiss, you took care of the book, and it was a very large (250 pages). Because it was a book of art, I was grateful for a coated paper and good color. As I learn more for my next book, I will come back to you. The other smaller book on the Book of James was nicely done as well.

I am a self-published author and I have used Lulu for many years. They provide me with a free ISBN, (if required), and give me an Author's page on their website, from where I can sell my books directly to the public. And it doesn't cost me a penny. My only expense is if I require a printed copy,(copies), for myself. I set the price of the book and my royalty payment which they send to me every month. The quality of their printing is first class and they offer several different formats.

In my opinion service was below my expectations I ordered a book, they delayed its production by a few days and then finally, it is getting RETURNED back to the sender, I'm not getting any support so far. UPD: I got a response, once I receive the book and check quality I update my review

Out of 3 Printers, Lulu is the best
I ordered from 3 printers for the same book: Lulu, Amazon, and D2D/IngramSpark. Lulu and Amazon were supposed to arrive the same day, but Lulu arrived first and with better quality. There was a bit of a corner snare on my book, but the spine was aligned and the cover color came out beautifully. Amazon came the next day, with a slightly washed out color and poor spine alignment. Finally, D2D arrived and the spine alignment was even *worse* than Amazon's. I would prefer the book with the fewest issues, which is Lulu. I will be using Lulu for bulk ordering in the future.

Excellent reproduction quality.
So far my proof copy reproduction was excellent. However, I was disappointed in how long it took to deliver.

If you are an author and want to self-publish, LuLu Rocks! I Highly Recommend!
I just printed my book through LuLu. It came out fantastic. The whole LuLu automated engagement process was simple and easy. Once I completed it and placed it in LuLu’s template, I uploaded the manuscript, selected the paper quality and hardcover binding, and uploaded the cover. Their online gallery showed me the final book, which matched the final hard copies perfectly. LuLu printed multiple copies of my little book, and they are all perfectly bound. The price per copy was very reasonable. LuLu printed, bound, and shipped the books back to me via priority mail within less than a week. This was my first time to self-publish, and I was concerned about the process and getting it right before going to print, but their automated website made it a breeze. I contacted LuLu client services at one point to verify the margin, gutter, and trim settings, and they responded quickly with solid instructions and a link to their online publishing guide. They followed up to ensure I received good service, which I did. I highly recommend LuLu to anyone wanting to print their manuscripts. While I published this only for my family, they offer full-service marketing and delivery of books in multiple formats, including Amazon, softback, and hardback. Bottom line, I am extremely happy with LuLu’s service and quality.

Lack of Transparency, Slow Reviews, and Poor Support for International Publishing
1 Star – Poor Transparency and Slow Distribution Process and Poor Support for Foreign Languages I have had multiple disappointing experiences with Lulu. In one case, I ordered and paid for a printed proof copy, including international shipping (Order #USD-C2779074, July 2025). The proof arrived successfully, but the book was later rejected from Global Distribution. The problem was not the rejection itself, but the complete lack of transparency. Lulu provided only a generic list of possible rejection reasons instead of identifying the actual issue. After reviewing my files and metadata, I was still unable to determine what needed to be fixed. Additionally, the book was published in Arabic, and despite selecting Arabic as the language, the printed proof showed issues related to reading direction and cover orientation. This created unnecessary confusion and additional work. More recently, I paid a distribution fee for an ebook project (Order #USD-C4037630, June 5, 2026). As of the date of this review, the project has remained in "Pending Review" status for an extended period without meaningful updates or clear communication regarding the delay. I fully support quality control and content review standards. However, authors deserve specific, actionable feedback when problems are found, especially after paying for proof printing, international shipping, and distribution services. My main concern is not strict review policies—it is the lack of transparency, unclear communication, and slow processing times. For a platform that charges authors for proofs, shipping, and distribution services, I expected a much higher level of communication and accountability.
