What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently face sudden account lockouts without any advance warning and struggle to reach customer support. People note that automated chatbots and online contact forms are completely unhelpful when trying to resolve urgent and frustrating login issues. Some reviewers were happy with past experiences, noting the email provider used to be reliable and very easy to set up. Others mentioned that the platform was quite functional, offering good features and a superior service before recent updates. A few users also pointed out that basic features worked exceptionally well for standard free accounts previously.

What people say

I have been using mail.com for years!

I have been using mail.com for years. I have been using it for my personal e-mail for many many years since 2010. I had all my info in there and used the on-line office. 2 years ago I lost access to my account and was never able to get back in. I was upset. There was a loss of access to the phone number so I lost all that info. So I opened a new account and this time I made sure all my info, contact information and recovery info was up to date and all rock solid. Then last week I got block by some automation thing on my ISO App. It said to contact customer service. I called and since I do not have paid service they could not help me. So I sent a message on the contact form. I got a message to reply with some info. I did and have not gotten no reply. I have a few things going on. The 1st is it is the middle of hiring season for the next school year, I have 100 applications out to schools with this e-mail listed as my contact. I am in the middle of applications and interviews with several schools as well as I have much business tied to this account. I have no access to info and documents I need for jobs, personal business, immigration, banks and my travel next week. This blocked issue has cost me a lot of time and hassle. As well as money. This blocked access will cost me not just a few job offers. But cash money to the toon of $1,000 of dollars and hassle with my travel next week! I am in the process of after over a decade and 1/2 with them. Switching to another e-mail provider. My company that I work for who also uses there service for there company e-mail provider will be canceling there services as there paid service expires. I would not recommend there service to anyone. It may work well when it does, but when it goes wrong you will be screwed. The hardest part is not having just access to the emails. But also the info/documents I have stored in there cloud server as well as in the on-line office they have, which I cannot access at all.

0 response from customer service

As a new business, highly frustrating to have been locked out of my account for the past 5 days. If it just came down to a security problem - fine, let’s get it sorted but after several emails I’ve had no response at all. Do not use this company for your emails.

You have blocked my work email account…

You have blocked my work email account for no reason. I've been trying to contact your technical support for three days and no one is answering. I have my company and accounting firm's information in that email. I can't use my account information because of your incompetence.

Got blocked suddenly and no way of connecting anyone.

Was happily using my mail.com account when it was suddenly blocked for "irregular activity". It's a nightmare to find any way to contact them. Then I found a form. Sent in a form which was automatically replied to saying that someone would get back to me in 24 hours. That was a week ago. Would not recommend to anyone. Only wish I had read these reviews before opening an account with them.

Terrible experience

I have been ousing the mail.com email account since the year of 2023, i have not been able to login for more than 3 days. I have emailed them my inquiry and i have told them that it says that my accout is blocked. Mind you, i use this email for business purposes. Nothing has been done thus far. I am frustrated because all of my work is in there. Why was my account locked?

Shocking email service

Shocking email service. Worked fine for a while then after I'd started to trust it with important emails one day it simply had a hissy fit and refused to let me login mumbling something about a security breach or I had been sending too much spam or phishing people! What an insult to use against a genuine client? I don't have many contacts on there site fortunately so was able to rescue most conversations. My password is very strong so I doubt it has been hacked. It's proved impossible so far to rescue my email and my written contact has yielded no response after more than 2 days. Lousy service. I have deleted mail.com because I cannot have an email service that is not trustworthy.

Worst paid email service company ever…

Worst paid email service company ever don’t bother signing up or with premium. Service is non existent you can’t get an email reply or anyone on the phone. The only thing efficient about them is they can take your money without fail, when it comes to helping with a problem or customer service nothing literally nothing!!!

They blocked my email claiming…

They blocked my email claiming suspicious activity. I filled out their form multiple times and even tried to call the paid customer phone line. I never got through- was on hold for 45 minutes. The emails were all responded to with form return mails. Needless to say, I will NOT BE RECOMMENDING THEM EITHER. They did me NO favor blocking my account. Four days into this and nothing. No response. No help.

⭐☆☆☆☆ 1 Star

⭐☆☆☆☆ 1 Star – A Serious Warning for Anyone Considering mail.com for Business Email Based on my personal experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering using a mail.com email address, including @engineer.com, for business purposes. For more than two years, I relied on my @engineer.com email address as the primary contact for my business. It is displayed on my website, printed on my business cards, and used by my customers and suppliers. Without any prior warning, I was informed that my account had been suspended due to suspected phishing activity. I fully appreciate that email providers have a responsibility to investigate potential security issues, and I cooperated fully with every request made of me. I promptly provided the identity verification documents requested to confirm that I was the legitimate account holder. After that initial request for identification, despite repeated follow-ups, I received no substantive response, no meaningful updates on the status of my account, and no indication of when, or if, the matter would be resolved. The suspension itself is not my principal concern. If there were legitimate security concerns, I would expect any responsible provider to investigate them thoroughly. My concern is what happened afterwards. Despite fully complying with every request made of me, I have been left without access to a business-critical email account and without meaningful communication or support. The consequences for my business have been significant. This email address is published on my website, appears on my business cards, and is the established point of contact for customers and suppliers. Losing access without warning, and then being unable to obtain any meaningful response from the provider, has caused considerable disruption to my business. If your business depends on reliable email communication, I would encourage you to consider how you would manage if your account were suspended unexpectedly and you were unable to obtain timely assistance, despite verifying your identity and fully cooperating with the provider’s requests. This review reflects my own experience with the service. I genuinely hope the company improves its communication and support for customers facing account security investigations, particularly where those customers have demonstrated their identity and cooperated fully throughout the process. I would welcome the opportunity for this matter to be resolved and for the company to engage constructively. Until then, based on my experience, I cannot recommend relying on this service for a business-critical email account.

mail.com NEGATIVE reviews are legit - consistent with mine

Here to re-iterate all the other negative reviews. I do not recommend Mail.com. Mail seemed 10 months ago as a solution to YAHOO slashing capacity in accounts to extort 'Premium' fees from users. Initially Mail was simple and reliable. I read the reviews of zero customer service. Now I am experiencing ZERO response from Support. My account is BLOCKED due to 'unusual activity' - though I know there is no threat. No response to restore via another email account. No phone number to reach a human. We learn that Mail has been sold and a new owner is 'changing the furniture' to impress investors. Mail is beyond slow. It is glacial pace. I can not access anything. The storage capacity was the main reason I switched to them. After this 'security' false blockage, I am forced again to find another email service. Gmail is fine but only 20GB capacity.

Mail.com is a scam company who force…

Mail.com is a scam company who force you to pay for their services, when I first joined Mail.Com they were a decent, friendly place 10 years ago, now they just hold you hostage to pay for their services, they were unfortunately taken over by a scam company that demand money, avoid these guys at all costs

CONSTANTLY RECOVERING MY ACCOUNT

I use mail.com daily. And it is now EXTREMELY annoying to have to constantly recover my account. This annoyance is compounded when I am told a 'technical error' has occurred. I will be leaving this garbage service post haste, and I encourage others to do the same. I will be moving to gmail where the service is impeccable. I have had an account on Gmail for decades and never once have I had any issue of any kind. THAT is how PROFESSIONAL email hosting is done!!!!!!!!!

MAIL.COM HAS BEEN DESTROYED

MAIL.COM HAS BEEN DESTROYED! AVOID!!! I've had this online email client for years and it worked very well. However a new owner recently acquired it and immediately set about "upgrading" (read destroying) it. The "new" interface they installed is completely unworkable. And not long after they started "tinkering" with the site, my email stopped working entirely. Everything was dead and I lost all my contacts, messages and everything else. So I closed my account with them and Jumped ship to a new email provider. AVOID MAIL.COM AT ALL COSTS!

Ive had this email since altavista got…

Ive had this email since altavista got bought out. it was fine but the last few months utter crap, first it would take 4 or 5 reboots just to get in. now this ridiculouse interface. I dont need 3 panels. and 400 colours and and a sans serif font, and avatars. the email window is now 4 inches of a 30 inch screen. UNDO this now. it is just pathetic. I cant believe 50 years into the internet we cant control the look of a website to what we want. Css is 30 years old.
