What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently face sudden account lockouts without any advance warning and struggle to reach customer support. People note that automated chatbots and online contact forms are completely unhelpful when trying to resolve urgent and frustrating login issues. Some reviewers were happy with past experiences, noting the email provider used to be reliable and very easy to set up. Others mentioned that the platform was quite functional, offering good features and a superior service before recent updates. A few users also pointed out that basic features worked exceptionally well for standard free accounts previously.

After decades, blocked without explanation or support

After decades, my Premium email account has been blocked without explanation. Mail.com's bot-based customer support is worse than worthless. [Update 6/12]: Finally reached a human and it seems that Apple users, particularly mobile, are experiencing random service interruptions which they are trying to fix. The "account blocked" automated response is clearly an awful notification to customers for this problem. [Update 6/26]: All of recent problems appear to be hiccups in a revamp of the site, which mail.com inexplicably failed to announce to users.

I want to keep my phone number just for myself

It used to be a good free mailbox, admittedly with ads, but it worked to a reasonable extent. Unfortunately, like most email providers, it forces you to provide a phone number. I don't like to be forced to do something, I'd rather just have a choice of what I want to use. Goodbye mail.com

I have been a premium member for years

I have been a premium member for years. Recently I had to get a new phone and had issues with logging into my account on it. Because I used my phone as my main device, other devices I tried to log into didn't recognize my info and it locked me out. Since that, the customer support lines I called never ring and are just dead ends. The AI chat just tells you to reset you password or submit a customer ticket. You submit a customer ticket and they send you a automatic email telling you to just reset your password. So far I have not been able to reach anyone to help reset my login or get any help. It's been a week. I am going to switch everything over to gmail, already have, once (if) I get access back. This is just ridiculous there is this little of actual human interaction or support from a company this size.

The worst and most unfriendly email…

The worst and most unfriendly email platform. I used the email account only once, and the next time I tried to log in I was told: “Dear mail.com member, our system has detected irregular activity related to your account. As a precautionary measure, we have blocked your account. To regain access, please contact our Customer Support.” What else can I say… I don’t want to hear about them or their services anymore. I do not recommend them!

They've been around for three decades: they MUST be doing something right!

I've been using Mail.com for one of my accounts since 2008. While naturally everybody's experience is different, I always found their service to be rock-solid, trustful, and reliable: they do store your emails encrypted and do not sell any of your data for profiling or for scrapping content to train AIs, and they don't 'suddenly' change their terms of service to 'unexpectedly' consider your account to be ineligible – and kick you out. That simply doesn't happen on Mail.com. I've actually joined them because, for one of my personal accounts, I didn't want Google to scrap all my very personal data – back in the day when it was only used for profiling. Today, who knows what else they do. I still have a Google account, of course – it's unavoidable – but I sleep safe every night knowing that at least the email address with Mail.com (and you can have ten different ones or so) will *never* 'disappear' for an unknown reason – no surprises there. Ever. Granted, the interface is dated – the last change was in the mid-2010s, if my memory doesn't fail me – and the feature set is reduced (but functional), but at least it's quite fast. I would certainly love being able to have, at least, a Dark Mode, and perhaps more choices of fonts and so forth. In fact, I'd be happy if I had all the features present on a popular open-source frontend such as Roundcube (with the Elastic skin). That said, I almost exclusively use a dedicated email application to access the mailbox using IMAP, so it's a bit irrelevant. Mail.com also offers some cloud-based storage associated with your email address, possibly as another way of getting some income (you only get 2 GB for free) besides ads. I haven't used them much, except for some simple experiments; granted, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and even Yahoo offer so much more, also for free, but at the cost of getting all your emails read by some algorithm...

It's a scam. Avoid at all costs

My email worked fine for about 3 days. But now l get a http 400 bad request error when l try to access my mailbox. There seems to be no way to contact support for this issue. The whole thing is a scam to get your details. Reported to the Federal Trade Commission and Google

Avoid this "Service" was a user for over 10 years, was my main email for work, life, bills etc, filled out 25+ contact forms over the last month, sent all correct details through backup email and not one reply has been given, having to change every account I have because they physically won't reply

I lost the access to my email account…

I lost the access to my email account for over 20 days is a serious problem. Here are some steps I tried: - Contact mail.com support more than 4 times with more details they requested - Provide proof of account ownership (registration date, old emails you remember, etc.) I persistent and escalate to a higher level of support Unfortunately no response only they says in their emails wait for 24 or 48 hours than request again. I cant wait more and all my busines is inside

Mail.com fails to deliver.

I have singed up 3 times in as many years, each time when i have need to login it won't allow me to log in,they alwasy forget your password, then today i was making a new account, the fancy slide the duck to the moon image captcha fails to work,i have never seen such a poorly badly run email client as Mail.com,don't bother using them, you'll just end up being locked out of your account or have no access to get at your emails.
