What reviewers say
AI generated
Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently face sudden account lockouts without any advance warning and struggle to reach customer support. People note that automated chatbots and online contact forms are completely unhelpful when trying to resolve urgent and frustrating login issues.
Some reviewers were happy with past experiences, noting the email provider used to be reliable and very easy to set up. Others mentioned that the platform was quite functional, offering good features and a superior service before recent updates. A few users also pointed out that basic features worked exceptionally well for standard free accounts previously.

Mail. com is an unreliable service as it offers no contact access when their system deactivates your account that appears to be "hacked" Thus a valid registered user has no ability to facility a restoration, even briefly, to recover emails that might relate to financial or health-related issues, putting the unsuspecting account holder in jeopardy. When accessing a mail.com account to repair/restore an access, users are diverted with an endless stream of FAQ's with no direct link to resolve account bloacking.
Ive been locked out of my account for 3 weeks now. Emails that i need access to and getting No response or help from mail.com to gain access.
Total shambles.
They locked me out of my account with no warning or explanation and would not respond to any requests. Zero customer support. Zero consideration for the massiver inconvenience they caused.
The a-mail is free, but that comes at a cost. It is heavily laden with ads, which slows its performance. Additionally, it is vulnerable to phishing scams and Ads embedded in your inbox.
The most frustrating issue is that it has on several occasions, suffered errors which prevent one from being able to logon. For all those reasons, I find this a poor option.
Been logged out for 3 days, can’t get into my email due to service issue and can’t seem to sort out the issue because on the other end of the messages is a bot. Absolutely gutted, all my important emails can no longer access.
DO NOT GO WITH THIS PROVIDER!!!
I set up a @engineer.com email address that I was using whilst looking for work post redundancy. Within 24 hours the app stopped working and I could not login with the credentials I had set up. Support has been non-existent (they have my mobile number and an alternative email address) since this occurred. Don’t use for anything important would be my advice!!
The email worked ok for a few months then I got the 'irregular activity' block on my account. No response from customer support after multiple messages. Chatbot is useless. Absolute rubbish, steer well clear of them !!
Changed over from VM to Mail.com a couple of months back. Didn't like the ads, so tried to upgrade to premium to remove them and also have the ability to add more folders. Kept getting error messages when trying to upgrade. Contacted Mail.com twice for assistance and was totally ignored.
Two weeks ago, I tried to login only to find my account had been blocked due to their system detecting "irregular activity".
Customer support have not responded to any of my messages over the past week.
Having to change mail addresses again is time consuming and tedious.
Absolutely disgusting. I wish it could be no stars!
Account blocked 4th March 2026. This Account is important to myself due health issues. The chatbot kindly empathised with my situation. A robot that shows empathy, must be some robot. Clever but can't reopen my email, or involve a real human into the conversation. Filled out the infamous form several times to no avail. Seems that they lower numbers by killing us off. You think they will attend my funeral.
I opened a mail.com email address, sent one test email to check the send/receive was functioning then one with an attachment. All good so far.
The next time I tried to log in I had a dialogue box telling me that the account was blocked as it may be used for spam emails. Several attempts, same result, completed the 'customer services' contact form, the response time quoted was 3-5 days but I could get faster service if I paid for a premium account. No response received after 5 days, Several repetitions of the process with submissions of the contact form and always the response was to pay for a premium account to get fast customer service. With no response ever received I have simply wallked away from mail.com and deleted their Bookmarks from all my machines.
Conclusion, mail.com is a scam to extort money from frustrated customers. Avoid At All Costs!
8 Days of Silence: Critical Security Breach & Zero Support Response
I am extremely disappointed and concerned by the total lack of support from mail.com. My account has been inaccessible for over 8 days. I suspect a serious security breach (hack) or an unjustified block.
Despite submitting more than 5 support tickets over the past week, I have received ZERO response, not even an automated confirmation email. I have checked my spam folders and tried different contact addresses, but the silence is absolute. Even their Facebook support is just an automated bot that provides no real help.
As a developer, this is my primary professional account, linked to my servers, Slack, and essential work tools. This situation is causing a major disruption to my business and my clients.
It is unacceptable for a major email provider to ignore a reported security issue for more than a week. I am requesting a human agent to contact me immediately to verify my identity and restore my access.
Do not be fooled by the mass of 5 star reviews. First after signing up I was blocked out and had to verify I was a person. But then after months of using the account for my business I was blocked on the premises of "irregular activity"; I reached out to their wonderful support team(!) And I have heard nothing from them at all. A terrible service and now I will have to go elsewhere and hope I can carry on after this vile disruption. If you want a good email, never and-I-mean-never use this wretched platform. Safe your time and save yourself by using any other email provider!
Worst of all businesses.
It used to be a good service, but I am locked out, with no customer support and possibly no way back in, just like other users are reporting! Shocking to know they have my important data and documents, and I can't retrieve anything or even close my account.
From what I've read, even paying a subscription to get phone support may not help.
I can't really think of a worse outcome for my emails. Avoid!!
Emails gave went cant log in
Been over a week now,, direct msg them few times no response, no response on fb page need emails for work, going to be a nightmare changing to a new email again and register everything,,,thanks for nothing
I have been unable to access my emails for 3 days now. I have filled out numerous requests which remain ignored. I would like to access my emails in order to transfer across my contact and account to a different provider
I have used mail.com for months now, very easy to set up and use, for a free service it has never given me any problems. The ads are annoying but something that has to be put up with if you want free.
I have never had issues with the service over the past years at all.
However, I recently changed phone handsets and since then have been trying to resent my password as I have forgotten it as I've never needed to enter it over the past numerous years.
I have been filling in the online form daily for the past 7 days consecutive and have had zero response
Ridiculous
I have tried everything to contact mail.com about twice having a account being blocked. and I never got one reply to why and what I need to do it just says contact us but you cannot I am so disappointed after years being with mail.com. but if something goes wrong you have no chance talking to someone via email you just get computer AI generated reply’s that’s no good for anyone. You don’t get a reply. I will be moving. To another email company. Mail.com are very disappointing
