What reviewers say
AI generated
Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers experienced unexpected annual subscription charges and auto-renewals that occurred without prior warning or clear consent whatsoever. Furthermore, consumers expressed deep frustration regarding aggressive paywalls, the removal of previously free features, and overly strict content filters that severely limited their creative editing projects. Additionally, people struggled with difficult interface bugs and unresponsive mobile webpage designs while trying to complete their daily work.
Some people were satisfied with the software, describing it as an excellent and intuitive tool for fast daily photo editing. They also appreciated the responsive assistance provided by the friendly customer support representatives when resolving various account issues.
Auto-generated from all reviews of this business. For reference only.
Before I start this, I wanna preface one thing. I have been a customer of pixlr for about 5 years. I have witness firsthand the downfall of this company. And I know that they are willfully ignorant to the fact that they're killing their company with their recent "updates".
With that being said,
use photopea. This is trash. This is what happens when a company sells their soul for AI. Do these people realize that nobody likes their weird AI push?
I know nobody at pixlr will read this and a bot will respond to this with a "hi" and an "email us," but in the small chance someone at pixlr sees this and the even smaller chance they stop being so greed-blinded and listen to what's being said, here's what i'll say.
You ruined your company with AI. You ruined your company with a paywall. Please, for the love of god, just get rid of your subscriptions and the AI and the daily limits. Just let us donate to you. Not only would your customers be happier, but you'd have better ratings than a 1-star rating.

Hi Zack, firstly, we apologise for the inconvenience.
Pixlr is still here to support users with powerful editing features and tools that help enhance their projects and creative work. With today’s AI advancements and our additional AI tools, users can save time, improve productivity, simplify complex tasks, create content faster, reduce repetitive work, communicate more clearly, learn more easily, lower production costs, and build confidence with technology.
Overall, AI helps people work smarter, create faster, and manage everyday creative tasks more efficiently.
Thank you for your kind understanding.

Batch Background Removal Was Restored Quickly After Feedback
Hello,
I wanted to leave some honest feedback after the recent support experience.
One of the reasons I originally subscribed to Pixlr was the fast and efficient batch background removal workflow. When the feature disappeared, it had a significant impact on my daily professional work and productivity.
What I really appreciated, however, was how quickly your team listened to the feedback and restored the feature. That level of responsiveness is unfortunately rare today, especially for professional users who rely on these tools daily.
I think maintaining efficient workflow-oriented features is extremely important, particularly for users working with large amounts of images and content production.
Thank you again for the support and for taking the feedback seriously.
Best regards,
Gad
I'm honestly quite annoyed and unimpressed with whatever new updates were done to this application - Foremost, there's a small AI clickable icon invading your editor that when double clicked prompts AI abilities. Secondly, I've been personally having issues with the interface, when going to change brush sizes, hardness, etc.., the sliders aren't moveable, or even clickable, its completely unusable. And another issue is the colour selector in the bottom left, the draggable circle to select colours isn't even in-line with the mouse, I have to drag and click about half-way up my screen away from the selector to even pick a colour I want. I'm afraid to say until these poor changes are either reverted or fixed, I will not be using this app anymore or suggesting it.
I don't want invasive AI features, nor do I want a buggy application that updates without warning.

Signed up photo issue corrected for this because my wife is…
Signed up for this because my wife is bed ridden and uses several apps to make photos and videos. She had a minor issue with blurred photos appearing after trying to fix them. I contacted Pixlr to inform them and they responded right away and after a couple of days the issue was corrected and they even replaced some credits. VERY PROFESSIONAL!
This site is an absolute scam. They take your money and nothing actually works.

This clown website isn't worth much.
After YouTube flagged WWII tank videos as child rape and refuses to reverse its decision (450,000 people falsely accused of pedophilia in one year), now this idiotic site is flagging just about anything and everything as pornography. I think all they can do is a solid color image.
The web is running out of space; we'd have to dig out the garbage to have real websites.

Pixlre has always shown excellence in costumer satisfaction and quality of the app is better than most, I've enjoyed it for years and recommend it over other like apps, Quality remains long after price is forgotten💫💫💫💫💫
This used to be my favourite Android imaging app everywhere.
Now, everything is behind a paywall. The greed! What jokers room over the running of the company? It's absolutely putrid now. Three saves a day on the free plan? You must be JOKING. Even Count Dracula isn't that bloodthirsty!
Update:- Read the room. Noone likes these updates. Your trustpilot score is abysmal. All of these changes are down to dreadful AI features noone asked for and Managerial Greed.

They give you a 7-day free trial subscription. But when you cancel the subscription, you’re not actually canceling it. Instead, you’re switched to a paid subscription and start getting charged. To me, that feels like a scam.
Reply from Pixlr2026-04-23
Hi there,
You can cancel your trial at any time through your account settings to avoid future charges.
However, if you encountered any technical issues or if the process was unclear, please contact us directly at [email protected].
We would be happy to assist you with the cancellation and issue a full refund for any unintended charges.
Thank you.

About 3 years ago, the limit of 3 saves a day started, so I signed up for a light user pay tier of 75¢ a month. Unlimited saves, still with ads, only the horrible "free" fonts. There was no email or notification that the program would become useless unless $2.49 a month was paid. And my several hundred credits disappeared.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can trace your account and verify the status of your subscription and credits. We want to ensure this is resolved for you as quickly as possible.

If this happens to you, file a complaint with your state AG immediately
Pixlr charged me for an auto-renewal I did not authorize. I requested cancellation and a refund within 24 hours of the charge. They ignored my request for eleven days. When they finally responded, they cited their Terms of Use to refuse the refund and advised me to "continue using the service until the end of the cycle."
That is not a refund policy. That is a company deciding to keep money it was asked to return.
A formal consumer complaint has been filed against Pixlr Pte. Ltd. with the relevant state Attorney General for unauthorized renewal and refusal to refund.
Auto-renewal subscribers in the United States should be aware that a blanket no-refund clause does not override consumer protection law. If this happens to you, file a complaint with your state Attorney General and dispute the charge with your bank. Both processes take less time than waiting for Pixlr support to respond. One star is generous.

Far too much censorship. Hamless posts flagged as sensitive etc. I pay for this so get out of my creations.

The actual photo editor is okay, just the ads are annoying. After 15 seconds of editing, the browser goes into fullscreen and plays an ad.

The face-changing feature in the free trial was very good, but after the free trial feature was removed, the program became very bad and the only feature was the free trial. I spent almost $80 on a trivial program!

It is hard to use so I didn't use it after the first day of the free trial. When I went to cancel it after 7 days, they had already charged me and told me I was out of luck. Use at your own risk. I just received a generic reply from Pixlr saying to contact them if I needed assistance. I did contact them and they did not help me.

Total garbage how Pixlr has changed. I subscribed over October for retouching my headshots. And after adding new ones a few months, NOTHING was working. AI tools, background change, nothing. Just a faulty broken server with only info@gmail for a Support contact.
Seriously? I realize many platforms have AI now. But to cheapen on subscribers like this for PAID service is unacceptable.
