Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. People frequently complain that prices have become excessively high across multiple categories compared to other competing supermarkets. Consumers also pointed out severe issues regarding grocery quality, mentioning things like rotten produce, bruised fruit, and expired meat items frequently found on the shelves. Some reviewers were happy with certain staff members who provided exceptionally helpful and friendly customer service during their visits. Customers also warmly appreciated the deli options and the frequent buy-one-get-one-free sales available, making shopping occasionally worthwhile for specific household items despite the widespread dissatisfaction with costs.

I purchased 2-Dozen roses 🥀 (Set of Red & White) two days before Mother’s Day! Came home to put them in a Vase for my mom for Mother’s Day, and some were dead and some drooping! I pray that they make it one more day! Very Disappointed in the quality of their flowers any more!!!
So for starters we love Publix and we shop there multiple times a week. But I do have a couple questions. Number one why am I constantly asked if I want items put in a bag? Isn’t that what the bags are there for to carry things how about everybody just gets everything packed for them. “ would you like your milk in a bag” …seriously…well of course I would . the question that’s more appropriate is why wouldn’t I ? it’s all wet with condensation I don’t want that rolling all around my backseat and on the floorboards. Second question is I get asked every time if I found everything I was looking for. I often simply say no I did not to see their reaction, because so far every time they have no follow up to that so it’s strange that they ask in the first place . I don’t know… you train these young people like a robot . say this and ask this but they don’t know what to do or say after that in response.
I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 40yrs..and been shopping at Publix for 15yrs or more..I go today to get a Money Order like I have been monthly its always for 350.00...I get asked what's the Money Order for..I thought I misunderstood him..I asked again..he said Publix policy..I have never been asked that before...He said I can go somewhere else to get it..Im 70yrs old I wasnt about to be talked down to like that...I got it and I left didnt want any trouble. It seems Publix has changed with with employees...attitude..and the I dont care attitude. With you guys price gouging you should worry about keeping your business in not blowing them off. The way the country is going. .a Money order should be the least to worry about. Aldis is the store that people need to go to...off brands its food and much cheaper! Plus your respected there. I dont usually write reviews but over a Money order i had to.
Most over priced. Most over staffed with lazy people. Often food old. Im 53 lived on and off in Florida almost 30 years. The worst location is 1258 Ocean Shore Blvd . Ormond Beach Florida. Staff rude. Racist. I heard racial slurs and anti snowbird conversation. A shame in 2026.
As a former (I walked out yesterday before I even clocked in) deli associate, at store 1533 in New Bern, NC… my review is specifically for the general public to understand why they are experiencing such a decline in customer satisfaction. I started at Publix in September of 2022. My first year was excellent and I believed the big Publix lie… that they care about their associates and customers. My initial pay increases were great. My ability to provide that ‘Premier customer service’ was easy. We had the appropriate amount of associates in the deli, to ensure we actually could effectively deliver that promise. It was at around the beginning of my second year when I realized that brand new hires, with no experience, were being hired at a much higher rate. Irritating but… I was still ok with my rate, knowing that my department manager and store manager were both pulling for me to be chosen as a contender for assistant manager (they weren’t. They were gas lighting me, and others, likely because they can quiet any grumbling about pay raises). They kept up gas lighting for quite a while. I finally decided I didn’t want it, as I watched the steady decline in the department, caused by corporate greed I began to really tune into what was happening at Publix. It was becoming harder and harder to provide the quality service that Publix is known for. We had an over abundance of part time associates, who just refuse to actually work, taking hours from the few part timers who actually do work. Corporate had already taken away, from managers, the ability to give fair merit based raises. Corporate soon slashed hours from every department. They keep jacking the prices. Associates can’t even afford to shop where we work. 95% of associates at my location are not happy and many customers are frustrated. So here’s what is happening. 1. Corporate is now solely focused on bonuses. 2. Managers are solely focused on bonuses, so we are shorted on supplies and product regularly to keep inventory low. Low inventory means higher inventory bonuses. 3. Being solely focused on bonuses means cutting the hours a department can schedule over the course of a week. 4. Being solely focused on bonuses means ever increasing prices (for the same product that other high end stores charge much less for) and fleecing their customers. 5. They know that the yearly Associate Voice Survey will result in them NOT making the Fortune 500 best companies to work for list… without many new hires to raise the score, explaining why they frequently hire too many part timers at an ever increasing base pay, while screwing over the long term, full time associates and taking hours from our proven part timers. The newcomers don’t realize that in a year, they will not be important to Publix. 6. They refuse to fire anyone, even during the first 90 days when the associates prove to be utterly useless and incompetent, forcing others to pick up the slack. We have one associate who has raised his fist at a female Boars Head representative and has yelled at many female coworkers and our manager. He’s still there, regardless of the fact that he’s proven to be aggressive and violent. It’s a hostile workplace and I’m so glad to have found the strength to leave. The PTO and free stock are NOT worth destroying my body, the complete lack of work/life balance, the inability to give customers the service they deserve, the incredibly high prices, having to work with people who are violent, incompetent and will never be fired. They are NOT the company they once were. They’re thriving on a reputation they once deserved, until the founder passed away and his heirs inherited the company and turned it into a greed machine. You aren’t paying premium prices to support a company who supports the people who keep it going. You are being fleeced so millionaires can continue to get wealthier, off your retirement, off your middle income paycheck (that would go much further at other higher end stores like Harris Teeter)
You got rid of the number system at the deli ! This has created a big problem with people waiting in line at the deli from people arguing who is next to be served at the deli ! Please bring the number system back asap !
I no longer go to the Publix on 717 North 14th street in Leesburg Fl 34748 this is the worse Publix there is place an order for 4 24oz. Siggi's skyr 4% fat in around January I waited for two months no one call me to let me know if they where able to order or not, I stop at the store asking if they place the order , the person at the customer service told me there's no record of any order, so I stopped at the Publix on Lake Deaton Plaza 695 Kristine Way the Villages Fl 32163 and place an other order for the same 4 24oz Siggi's 4% fat , this time was on 3/18/2026 same thing happen , but this time I have a copy for the special order , the young man was Josiah Habel, so I guess not going to any Publix anymore !!!!!!! Publix has gone dawn hill!!.
The last 3 or 4 times I've had the ribeye steaks. They have absolutely no flavor in them. They used to be so good. I think they changed. Who they were buying their meat from, but they need to go back where they were at, I'll buy my meat from wind Dixie, there still has good flavor in it. You get what you pay for sometimes you try cutting a corner and you lose your customers, it's a bummer cause I used to like public meet, but it sure has gone downhill.Last couple months

I bought the new cheesecake with carrot cake on the bottom. It is too much cheesecake with little carrot cake on bottom. Thank goodness it was on sale. You have better like cheesecake!!!!
The Store used to be beautiful, now, the parking lot smell like piss, people asking for money and the store itself is small, produce is pretty bad quality, they don't even have Artisians Breads, Salads with small portions of chicken, mostly lettuce. They blame it on the Bus Station, but they can easily have someone watch the parking lot. We drive High End cars and this just doesn't fit in. They should close the Store since they can't deliver to a High End Clientele
This review is concerning the public deli section. What has happened to the hot deli in Publix. I shop the Melbourne Fla Publix in the Melbourne shopping center. The hot food and fried chicken area has not been good for quite some time now. They don't keep it looking fresh often bins on that replenished. They have raised their prices understandably, but in addition, they have shrunk their portions yesterday I went for the mixed fried chicken. It was the worst I ever had. The pieces were so small. You could not even tell if you were getting breast or chicken thighs, the legs and wings were tiny. Unable to tell between a thigh and a breast, not even thinking I got breast the legs and the wings were tiny, the chicken was overcooked because I think they keep the time of the same, and the pieces are extremely small. I understand paying more today with inflation, but for Publix a quality supermarket shrinking portion sizes is bad business. You used to get a box of fried chicken and it'd be full not even close now. Very very disappointed. In addition, the same as happened to their chicken tenders. And the side portions have become extremely small.I will no longer use their hot deli.
Mr. Murphy, I am writing again because my concerns have not been acknowledged or addressed. Publix shut down Publix Pay with only 10 days’ notice, and I currently have over $100 trapped in the app. To this day, no one at any Publix store can tell me how to access my money, and the company has provided zero clear instructions on what customers are supposed to do. Your previous response was a form letter that did not address any of my actual questions. This is unacceptable for a company of Publix’s size, especially when customers’ money is involved. Let me be extremely clear: I need to know exactly how to retrieve the funds remaining in my Publix Pay account. I need a step‑by‑step process, not general statements or corporate language. I need to know why customers were notified only 10 days before eliminating a payment method involving stored balances. I need to know why store personnel have no information or guidance on this issue. If Publix has decided to eliminate this service, it is your responsibility to provide customers with a clear and accessible method to access the money that belongs to them. Right now, Publix has left customers without answers, without support, and without access to their own funds. I expect a real response, not a template. I also expect immediate instructions on how to recover my money. If I do not receive a satisfactory and direct answer, I will escalate this issue to Publix Corporate, the Florida Attorney General, and the Better Business Bureau, as this situation involves the handling of consumer funds without transparency or clear recourse. I look forward to your prompt and substantive reply.
I spend 250 to 300 per week at publix on Groceries alone. I have purchased several apple gift cards from 4 different publix locations. Every time I by a card. I am interrogated as to who its for? Do you know his person. They make me feel like a criminal. A) its none of your business who i buy them for,2)it needs to STOP!!
I generally have a great experience at the hueytown location but here lately I've had bad experience with the peanut butter cookies, when I look at the cookies through the plastic container the peanut butter cookies are over baked, they are darker than normal and they are not as good as the lighter ones, please be consistent with my peanut butter cookies because I turn into a cookie monster when they are not perfect 😀 Can you please watch my cookies and stop getting on Facebook or Instagram while baking, good lord, do I need to come up there and do the job of baking cookies. Thanks Mike
I stopped in to do some shopping today at store number 1372 on Bay street in Sarasota FL after checked out I realized that the bagger did a terrible thing which is unacceptable when she packed my groceries mixed between frozen food ,with fresh veggies also pack of raw chicken together and the worst thing was she packed chemical with food I was really upset about this issue which is they should have trained about how to packing the items appropriate not to stuff everything in one bag trying to save bags for company I meant it was horrible experience I never had it before ... Very unpleasure shopping today from now on I have to give my attention on this bagger service when I shopping there again they should have giving the employees training before put them down on the floor
I’ve been a Publix shopper for many years, and the decline hasn’t been recent — it has been happening for a long time. Prices on everyday essentials have climbed to the point where it feels like price gouging. A simple example: a bottle of Publix-brand water has gone up 26 cents in about a month, and that’s just one item. This pattern is happening across the basic products customers rely on every week. Publix often says they “help offset price increases” through their buy-one-get-one-free sales, but that doesn’t actually help when the regular prices keep climbing. I can go in and spend over $100, sometimes close to $200, and still feel like I’m walking out with almost nothing. At least I have a job, but there are retired people living on Social Security who are struggling even more — and Publix doesn’t seem to care about how these increases affect their customers. Corporate keeps raising prices, but for what? The quality of the food has also dropped significantly over time. I constantly have to check expiration dates because I’ve repeatedly found items on the shelves that were expired or close to it. On multiple occasions, I’ve brought home products that turned out to be spoiled or past their date. I’ve even contacted Publix corporate directly about expired items in their stores, and they were dismissive and didn’t do anything meaningful to address the issue. For a store that advertises itself as a place “where shopping is a pleasure,” the reality in-store is far from that. Publix seems to have plenty of money to spend on polished commercials and branding, but the actual shopping experience no longer matches the image they promote. Higher prices, lower quality, and the need to double-check basic items have made shopping here frustrating instead of enjoyable.
