Save your time.
Man, if I could give them 0 stars I would. I can’t stress that enough. If you have ANYWHERE else to buy/play games. Do so. This company is worthless to the user/consumer. They are all about their bottom line and themselves. Save yourself the headache! They play some very sneaky games when it comes down to their bottom line. Would not recommend to anyone.
network connectivity failling 100% every time, a nightmare

Unhelpful prewritten replies
Unhelpful prewritten replies. No real interest in helping. There looks to be a tendency to have repetitive buying of same licences, when a problem occurs. I won't buy or use any Steam games again!
I purchased this for the games. After I was finally done signing in the Steam system took over my computer. I had to override the computer to shut down. When I restarted I had to get right into my apps to delete the main Steam App, while the app kept trying to take over and restart the game. After the second restart we were able to uninstall Steam but the game was left on my computer. Don't download, this is a scam and has been reported as such.

Refund policy is too rigid
Steam denied my refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 solely because I had 4h 47m of playtime. For a large RPG, that’s barely enough to decide whether it’s worth keeping. They claim refunds are reviewed case by case, but my request appeared to be rejected based only on the 2-hour limit. The refund policy needs more flexibility for games that take hours to evaluate.
I paid for a game didn't get access to the game. Struggling to get my money or any access to the game. If I can't access the game. Then don't take my money!!!! The game is supposed to be a birthda P
Nothing good. The 1st time I bought something it didn't work. I'm not a "karen" but this is the online experience I've ever had that is so terrible. I just want the game to work it's a birthday present for my girlfriend. This makes me look bad and you. So this just sucks for ALL of us

Selling broken games isn't cool
I bought a game last week in the Steam sale hoping to play though a game series that consisted of three games.
Already had the first game so bought the second and third. Installed the second game only for it to be a buggy mess that crashed constantly, as there were community posts I thought I'd use those to try and fix the issue but still got to a point where the game still crashed constantly making it unplayable.
By then the Steam client said I'd played for over 3 hours but I'd barely done an hours worth of content of a game which has around 75-80 hours of content in total.
Due to the constant crashing making the game unplayable I requested a refund. That refund was declined and after multiple attempts they're still declining it even though I cant play the game.
The company that so many heralded as "consumer friendly" is actually terrible when it comes to actual consumer rights which is breaking by selling broken games.

Sold me a faulty game
Sold me a faulty game. Only found out it was riddled with bugs about 7 hours into playing it. Steam policy is refund up to 2 hrs in.
Some games don't open up properly until 4-5 plus hours.
Refused a refund, refused any chance or oppertunity to discuss the matter with an agent. Lazy, opportunistic, and greedy company.
Buy a console, buy cartridges - do not buy downloadable games.
Enraged how much money i gave to these corrupt jags. They fully support and even favor harassment. They allow review bombs on games even ones that arent fully available yet!! These people find inclusive games often involving minorities and negatively review and "warn" others about whats in it (ex: this game has LGBTQ -- its pro dei) Its vile they allow entire communities who go out of their way to not only review bomb small games but also harass people. Cant report the groups either they give an error message. Wonder why maybe because a bunch of people have already been trying to take these groups down. They thrive off this power and steam gives it to them. They even let people who go around threatening and stalking others stay on the platform. No bans. The targeted person reports and nothing happens. Their answer is to "ignore, report, block" yet report doesnt do anything so what kind of solution is that?

Steam is an overpraised website/app…
Steam is an overpraised website/app that is just mediocre in every single way and the review bombing in video games is ignored. A certain game is getting negative review bombed and they do nothing. 10 minute reviews are saying fake non existent glitches in the game. I reported and they only sent me a link that said they fixed it. Huh yeah "i see". Game got pushed down to "mixed" and people with 100+, 200+, 300+ hours of gameplay, long detailed reviews trying to actually tell what the game feels like. They tinker with CS2 economy so people lose money, they ignore games that don't make them money, promotes gambling but makes it inside the rules. An absolute worthless company. When new Half Life? Is that ok? If Steam would not print money, Valve would go bankrupt. What is their last game? Half Life Alyx in 2018. Not a single news, or trailers for anything else, but why bother if they are printing money. Over hyped truly overhyped company. Sadly they have the monopoly in this. Everyone else is doing bad things to themselves so there is no trust with other companies. All my problems would be gone if their game review would be somewhat better. At least something before posting. Like Q﹠A. What is the game about? What is a plot point? Tell 4 characters of the game. And then they value it or Ai checks and then its an official review. but nothing. Buy the game, negative review it then refund it. EZ negative review. Dogshit company, cant wait till someone else takes over.
Company encourages deceptive business practices and monetization. War Thunder is a great example. When deceptive practices got worse, players organized and decided to all place reviews informing potential players. What did Steam do? Change their review policies to filter out these reviews thanks to their 30% cut of the monetization.
On the plus side, their practices pushed me to the point where I have forbid my children from video games altogether. It's become an extremely toxic environment, even by the companies.
Do not allow your kids to take part in Steam's business.
They gave me back my refunds quickly, and the sales are always worth it

extremely poor support all outsourced and no one can speak the language. support is hostile, rude, ignorant, lies, ignores requests and support criminal behavior on steams own platform openly.
platform is toxic garbage of white supremacists, neo nazis and predators.
Steams platform allows chronic criminals, scammers, money laundering operations and worse with no real attempts to crack down on criminal behavior.
No "early access" time limit so chronic scam games and money laundering operations run chronically under "game developer" pretense.
make no mistake, Gabe Newell is 100% aware of these problems and is 100% complicit in them.
Switch to another platform such as GoG or others as Steam is full bore anti-customer, pro-criminal platform.

Don’t bother contacting customer support. If you are having any trouble with your device look on online forums to find your answer. I was dealing with a glitch and the only advice support gave was to make sure the device was updated. When that didn’t work they told me I’d have to spend a bunch of money on a repair. Was able to figure it out on my own without spending any money.

Censored for cancelling a pre-order
Find the logic in this
I pre-ordered a game, Tokon to be precise
Sony later announced that before the game even launches they are arbitrarily banning the game across 2/3rds of the planet AND that the remaining 1/3rd who are allowed the luxury of paying for a product need to create and use a playstation network account. So they were mandating a play station account for people who don't even own a playstation.
Naturally, I and many others weren't thrilled about this. A fighting game lives or dies on it's player count, so sony reducing the potential playerbase by omitting massive chunks of the global population, including the nations with the highest percentages of fighting game players.
I cancelled my pre-order and made an admittedly snide comment in a steam discussion thread, pointing out how the decision makes no logical or financial sense and the only 2 plausible explanations are
1: discrimination, sony look at a list of countries as "less developed" and determined based on nothing that they don't deserve to pay for sony games
2: discrimination and pettiness, a lot of those nations don't have as dense population of console players as other parts of the world, so as a middle finger to those nations, they put out a blanket ban
I did not say anything personal, made no assumptions, did not violate a single one of steams guidelines. I said the decision itself was dumb and commented how incredible it is that such a decision could even be made and approved by enough suits to be put into practice.
How did steam respond to this? They took a scorched earth approach. Deleted my comment, banned me, the reason they gave in a "support" message was saying "Disrespectful content: Discrimination"
Yep, you read that right, I pointed out how certain nations are being discriminated against and how it is detrimental not only to those specific nations but the game as a whole because it means that at most the game could reach 1/3rd the player count it should be able to reach and steam silenced me saying that I was the one discriminating.
They also deleted all the other comments about the decision and locked discussion threads with no reason given.
Steam is not good, never has been, it's only popular because like any monopoly it offers convenience and sometimes brute force i.e forcing games to only ever be released via them and never make it to GOG. But in 2026 its worse than ever.
1:They let banks determine what you are allowed to even see let alone buy. So if you are 40 years old but have always been careful and only ever used debit cards, tough, you are now banned from even seeing any games containing violence, gore, adult themes, nudity, graphic scenes.
2: They now no longer hide their bias in people corporate lap dogs and their "moderation team" spend their days combing the discussions not upholding their own rules whilst also censoring anyone who dares to critique their bed buddies.
Sailing the seas has never been more ethical.

I always check in whenever there's a sale around, it's relatively easy to get refunds if I don't gel with a game, very responsive and I usually get my money back in a day or two
