I canceled my account as soon as I found out that there were hidden fees that are not part of the initial agreement. Trademark Engine is associated with Swyft Legal, LLC, which after the initial purchase and prior to filling any intake documents to file for a trademark, they bill your account. My hidden fee, above the $50 initial beginning fee, was $450. After contacting our bank, they also verified that is a common tactic with this company. Be aware.

Oh the fine print! Notice, when you sign up next to that big $49 button there's a tiny line of "+ applicable fees." Beware...long story short...back & forth, two weeks of tweaks, and just before I'm going to apply to the USPO...I get a notice saying, Nope, there's another company with another similar sounding name that'll get you denied. Wait...wasn't that the very first search we did? And then the official legal suggestion, "You should change your name" - really? Ok, give me a refund for the $450 for the filing you haven't done yet. - No, you only get $350 back because that's our "+ fee" - Basically $100 for hitting a button to a search that should've been done on day 1? Yup, Ai is comin' for your job & will do it better & faster & more "humanely" = honestly.

To clarify, the attorney review is a separate professional service that was completed as part of your order. The purpose of that review is to assess the application and identify potential legal concerns, including issues that could affect the likelihood of registration. The attorney’s recommendation was based on their review of your specific circumstances and was provided before the application was submitted to the USPTO.
Because the attorney review had already been completed, that portion of the service was not eligible for a refund. The remaining eligible amount was refunded to you in accordance with the terms of the service.

I paid for their "Express" filing for my Trademark and it has been two weeks for them to process. When I asked for a refund on those fees they gave me the run around. Secondly, they charge $450 PER CLASS on a filing fee and just start authorizing your credit card without any approval. They also tried to make me pay for a lawyer consult. Untrustworthly, beware.

Be extremely aware using this company for any services. They have stole hundreds of dollars from us and charged our company credit card on random dates for supposed "trademark monitoring services" for trademarks that do not even exist, and their customer service refuses to refund or acknowledge their illegal activity.

You will need to stay on top of the process
The cost for my one trademark was $950, which included the $350 USPTO filing fee and a $100 expedited processing fee. I paid for expedited processing because the ad said it reduced the time from 14 to 5 days. Perhaps it was in the fine print or perhaps I just missed it, but that is the time for a processor to BEGIN looking at the app, not the expected time to complete it.
It took 9 days for my app to process. It would have only been 6 days but the attorney review was delayed by 3 days. This was because the attorney kept assuming that we were meeting through a video call on MS Teams when I had specifically requested a phone call and provided my phone number. It would have been understandable if she missed this once but it actually happened twice!!
Once the review was finished and I electronically signed the app, it sat for another day with a status that said I still needed to sign it. I initiated a chat to find out what happened. I was told that I had done my part correctly but it could take several more days before the app was submitted to USPTO. I complained loudly in the chat, mentioning the issue with the attorney. My app was then expedited and approved within two hours.
Without these delays I would have given a rating of 4 or even 5. When I finally did speak to the attorney, she was helpful in the process of selecting a name with the intent to minimize a rejection by USPTO. Also, I recognize that if I had used a patent attorney from a regular law firm, I would have paid a lot more than $500.
So, the bottom line is that Trademark Engine gets the job done of helping you get your app processed. However, if your experience is anything like mine, you will need to stay on top of the process.
