What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Consumers consistently describe the platform as very user-friendly and appreciate the clear dashboards and earnings reports available for tracking music distribution and overall performance. Many independent artists also highlight that getting new tracks out to stores is a straightforward process supported by helpful management and professional mixing tools. However, some customers also noted that customer service can be extremely slow, unhelpful, and difficult to reach when urgent issues or questions arise. Other users similarly mentioned experiencing long, frustrating delays for song reviews along with unexpected track rejections that completely lacked clear explanations or valid reasons.

What people say

Account Closed & Funds Withheld Without Clear Evidence

I am an independent artist whose TuneCore account was recently closed for alleged “abnormal activity.” All of my music is 100% original and owned by me. The engagement associated with my releases was generated through YouTube Shorts distribution on my official channel. I have not used bots, artificial streams, or any fraudulent services. Despite this, my content was taken down from all stores and my earned funds were withheld. I was not provided with specific evidence, detailed reporting from stores, or a clear explanation of what constituted the alleged violation. As an independent artist, transparency is extremely important. If abnormal activity is detected, creators deserve: • Clear documentation • Specific release details • The opportunity to respond • A defined appeal process I am still awaiting a transparent review and clarification regarding the withheld earnings. I hope TuneCore improves communication and provides fair resolution mechanisms for independent artists in similar situations.

Inexistent customer service

Inexistent customer service. They are there, but never helpful. Generic messages without precision about the issue they told you have. 7-day waiting time between each communication, even if you subscribed to PRO (they told they respond in 24h, but it's completely false). Very poor service. You only discover how good a company’s customer service really is when something goes wrong — and in this case, it completely failed.

If I were you, skip.

If I were you, I would skip Tunecore and use Distrokid instead. I've had Tunecore for a year, and regretfully, renewed. I will not after this one. I've had countless of issues with Tunecore, and sometimes because of their conflictive requests. For example, one said you can't use the word Collection, another just approved and sent for distribution. They JUST CAN'T GET IT TOGETHER. In one year, I had ONE problem with Distrokid - i accidentally uploaded the same track for two titles. Texts and covers I used for the Distrokid are the same as Tunecore. (I have three children's song artist profiles). So, to avoid the pains, use Distrokid. Go check their reviews, and see why, despite having MANY MORE REVIEWS, STILL HAVE A HIGHER SCORE on Trustpilot. Those numbers don't lie. Good luck!

Seemlessly easy, only thing: categories are over-complicated

Seemlessly easy. The only thing they don`t understand is categories: It is impossible to place classical cross-over music, as they ALWAYS say it is NOT classical cross-over and Spotify and Co. would make huge problems with THAT category. For me music that converts classical concepts into today IS classical cross-over.

I've been using TuneCore since 2009

I've been using TuneCore since 2009. There have been times where I found it difficult to navigate their user interface, but there's usually some info online that helps when i'm a bit confused. I used to have trouble getting in touch with TuneCore support, but it seems in recent years they have stepped up their game in that regard. I have had a couple support tickets in the last few months, and my questions were answered and inquiries resolved. a number of years ago I used DistroKid for a month, and went straight back to TuneCore. I like their platform more, and the publishing aspect is pretty good too (for me an independent rapper/producer who is doing everything on his own)
