Don’t bank here

I trusted them them to do the bill pay service and pay my car payment to another bank. The check never arrived after almost 2 weeks. Which wasn’t necessarily the issue, the real issue arose when I called Fifth Thirds 1-800 number after being told by bank branch representatives that is what I needed to do. So I sat on hold 20 minutes, I spoke with a representative and explained the entire situation. He assured me that since it was the bank that promised to pay my bill that the fee would be waived. Well lo and behold the next day the fee had been taken out of my account. It was too late so the next business day I went into the bank and was told they couldn’t help and I had to once again call the 800 number. So I did, and was told in no uncertain terms that they didn’t waive fees and it couldn’t be disputed. I called the disputes anyway and the guy said he agreed it was wrong but nothing he could do, so he would transfer me to customer service and see if they could help. By this point I had been on the phone at least half an hour. When he transferred me, I was disconnected. If I didn’t have loans with this bank I would leave. What if this bank took fees that weren’t supposed to be charged?? And there policy is you can’t dispute fees?? They would get away with theft. And they have lied to me from one representative to another, as well as saying I could trust their bill pay system. I will be leaving this bank as soon as I am able.

I have been with Fifth Third for many…

I have been with Fifth Third for many years now and they took care of me for many years, but I got an email from them and I called to dispute the email and say I did not order whatever it was they had and I wanted a refund and ended up getting ripped off between between them and Cash App. The guy said he was from the bank and Better Business Bureau to get me my refund from Cash App so I ended up going directly to the bank within 10 minutes after this phone call filing a dispute I’m sitting there in tears. I’m literally shaking. I filed a dispute with Cash App also and their dispute application websites. The bank decided to close the dispute within two days and didn’t even let me know then turn around and sent me a letter telling me to sign off on it and send them any other information or emails or text messages that I had a week after they closed the dispute and didn’t bother to let me know. Now I’m out of money because of people pretending to be in my bank my cash app and also the Better Business Bureau in the Bank just wants to tell me what they think I wanna hear. They’re not gonna dispute it. They could’ve shut the charges down while it was still pending in the bank. They say they cannot do that but they’re all a bunch of liars. They can do. Whatever they need to do. I’ve seen it done in the past so I know they’re all a bunch of liars so needless to say I have to find a good bank. Because I’m tired of dealing with liars or people from other countries coming in taking our positions and then just filling our heads full of crap

They are an objectively terrible bank

They are an objectively terrible bank. They have sucked for decades. I will be closing all my accounts with 53 shortly. Applied fir a load, was told I would recieve word within 2-4 days. 3 weeks later nothing. Just ghosted. I still recieve weekly "pre-approved" emails from them which apparently they don't actually offer. So now I'm in this weird limbo where my loan is not approved buy also not denied. Their underwriters just need more time but thanks for my patience as I'm trying to consolidate my debt. Thanks for choosing to bank with 53 as their underwriters take over 3 weeks to make a decision on $9k. Meanwhile the auto loan I am trying to refinance was approved in less than a 30 minutes. Customer of over 17 years FWIW with 3 accounts. This is how you can expect to be treated by Fifth Third if you make the mistake of choosing them for your banking needs.

Avoid Banking with 5/3 if Possible

Without providing any actual reason, this bank froze my HELOC, locking up all the money that I had placed in it to temporarily lower my balance until I needed the funds. When attempting to get a straight answer and find ways to correct the issue, it was impossible to reach anyone with the power to make a decision. Instead of providing detail about any concerns and working with me to correct them, they just conducted an anonymous "review" and refused to lift the freeze. Very poor interest level in maintaining good customer relations, but accurate name. A fifth of a third is about 7%, and that appears to be the level of help they were able to provide me. Local branch personnel were very nice and tried, but were unable to help. IMHO, the bank has grown too large at the corporate level and haslost concern for individual customers.

I called into the location

I called into the location. And spoke with JR Ramos. I advised him that I was located in Cape Coral Fl and he let me know the many locations around me. After giving me a lot of information I advised him that I feel comfortable doing business with him and drove to Naples to create my new small business checking account.

Downtown Valpo 5/3 Bank service grade A+

I have made multiple significant in-person transactions at this facility. On each occasion, I had the good fortune to be serviced by Jordan. 5/3 is beyond fortunate to have a representative with such talent, professionalism, and genuine customer relations acting as a presence for your organization. While banking may often present itself as a stiff or even anxious activity, the staff there offers an uncanny welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a consummate professional decorum. While I have often considered “shopping” other bank chains to better suit my preferences and needs, it is the in-person experiences such as these that are not just the primary, but essential factor that retains me as a satisfied customer. As one rare to feign empty praise, I felt the need to thoroughly express my gratitude.

Understaffed

Understaffed, the teller at the front desk said “ he doesn’t know how check deposit work, it’s his 2nd day” … another teller told me my deposit would be available 2-5 days and that wasn’t true. Austin was helpful but the other staff were not at all. I Felt judged when I entering the building as if I was doing something fraudulent. I also had my son with me and it was sad for him to see that. Definitely not using this bank as primary as I intended to.

Mortgage Closing and Handling Mismanagement

After closing on my home more than a month ago, I received a completely blank check from this bank — unprofessional and unacceptable from the start. After calling to report it, they cancelled it and issued a replacement, which I deposited and used for my obligations. Days later, without any notice whatsoever, they placed a stop payment on the replacement check, sending my account over $5,000 negative and causing multiple credit card and vendor payments to bounce. The cascading penalties and fees were entirely caused by their negligence. When I called to seek compensation for the damages, manager flatly refused to take any responsibility. This bank holds its customers to strict standards and charges fees for the same behavior they themselves exhibited — yet when their errors cause real financial harm, they offer nothing. I have filed a formal complaint with the CFPB. Avoid this bank if you value financial stability and basic accountability.
