What people say

Dreadful company

Dreadful company. Having been with Hostek for many years and having no issues things drastically changed recently. They failed to renew my domain which meant that my website and emails were inoperable for nearly 2 weeks. They then blocked a payment resulting in further delays. They introduced two factor authentication to my account without consulting me and I have been unable to access my account since March. I sent them notice to cancel the services due to their incompetence however they have just taken an unauthorised payment from my account. Do not go near them.

Hi, Philip. I'm sorry you’ve had a frustrating experience. We understand that issues involving a domain, email, account access, or billing can be very disruptive. Though we can’t discuss account-specific details publicly for privacy and security reasons, we do want to clarify a few general points. Renewal reminders are sent to the contact information on file before a domain expires, two-factor authentication has been required on client accounts for quite some time, and cancellations must be submitted through the required cancellation process so they can be properly recorded. If services remain active and are configured to use automatic billing, you may see additional charges until cancellation is submitted. I'm happy to review the account with you privately, including the renewal history, 2FA access, billing activity, and cancellation status. Please contact our support team with your account details or ticket number so we can investigate securely. David C. Senior Manager

Terrible service

Terrible service. Just dont bother. Been with them for over 10 years and the service just gets worse and worse. In Feb the server hosting my clients website went down. No website , no email. It took 3 days to get back on line and since then I haven't been able to update any of my hosted sites. My clients are mad and the only advice the support team has given me is to make new websites for my clients which is incredibly time consuming and costly. In the last year I've had emails from Hostek acknowledging how bad their supprt has been and promised to make it better. This has not happened and most responses now dont tackle the problem, instead just tell you something slightly related but not helpful at all. I'm leaving as fast as I can.

I'm sorry to hear this, we have been very upfront with our statements of support and expectations. Additionally, I can assure you that the numbers are clear, support response times are down over 300% over the past 2 years, and customer satisfaction is up nearly 20% and now in the 90's. All that said, I would still like to look into this for you and figure out where things went wrong even though you have already moved, please reach out to mgmt-feedback at hostek.com so we can look into it and ensure it doesn't happen again!

WARNING: Do not trust Hostek with your business, domain, website or email

I was a Hostek customer for many years, and I can honestly say this company has caused me more stress, disruption and damage to my business than any provider I have ever dealt with. I previously posted about part of this experience, but this is the complete picture including the final outcome. Last year, my website was hacked and malicious adult content was injected into my domain/site. This was devastating for my business and reputation. Instead of urgently helping me secure my account and resolve the issue, Hostek locked me out of my own account and then effectively disappeared while I was left trying to deal with the fallout alone. For weeks I was ignored during this active crisis. The consequences were devastating. I ultimately had to: * abandon my original website * create an entirely new brand * rebuild my website from scratch * migrate all systems and email * try to repair the reputational damage caused by the hack. Any responsible, ethical company would try their hardest not to allow a situation like this to develop to start with. But if it did, they would aim to resolve the issue immediately, clean up their act so it doesn’t happen again and support their customer through the devastation caused, simply because it is the right thing to do. Hostek chose to wash their hands of the situation instead. What made the entire experience even worse was the tone of the responses I eventually received from Hostek management. Rather than showing concern for the damage caused or attempting to rebuild trust with a long-standing customer, their communication focused on quoting terms and conditions, shutting down further discussion, and repeatedly declaring the matter “resolved” while I was still dealing with the real-world fallout caused to my business. But it doesn’t end there. Unbelievably, when they had another opportunity to redeem themselves, they decided to repeat exactly the same despicable behaviour all over again. Recently, my domain entered redemption status and urgently required action. I contacted Hostek repeatedly over the course of more than a week: * support tickets, * escalation emails, * voicemail messages, * repeated explanations that the issue was business-critical and time-sensitive. I explained multiple times that I could not access my account normally because the suspended domain had taken my email offline. Despite this, I received virtually no response whatsoever. My messages were clearly being seen, yet I was left completely stuck waiting while business services depending on my domain remained disrupted. Every single day that passed increased the stress, risk and operational impact. And still Hostek failed to act. In the end, I had to go directly through external registry intervention to find a workaround and resolve the situation because Hostek were unreachable yet again. Of course, only AFTER I had resolved the domain issue myself, did Hostek mysteriously reappear and respond with a pointless email stating that my domain was now transferred. That final response perfectly summed up my entire experience with this awful company: When things are working, they’re happy to take your money. When something goes seriously wrong, support disappears and you are left to deal with the devastating consequences alone. I would strongly urge anyone considering using Hostek as their provider, to think very carefully before trusting them with anything business-critical. Because if you ever face a serious issue involving your website, domain, email or account access, you may discover, as I did, that any support simply disappears when you need it most.

I have been with Hostek for almost 20…

I have been with Hostek for almost 20 years and the service keeps getting worst. I have been down for more than 2 hours and no one at Hostek sems to care. You cannot connect them by phone only online and no one picks up the ticket. I am leaving Hostek with all my accounts and going to AWS.

Domain name stolen

I was with a different company when my Domain was taken over by this company. Happened some years ago, I just carried on paying with this company without any issues until now. I tried to pay. The invoice for renewal.? it didn’t allow me into my account after me answering the security questions correctly. I knew there must be something strange going on. You can’t renew Password unless you answer security questions? I answer the questions correctly, but still not allowing me to change my password blocking me out of my account. Even after talking to assistance, explain explaining to me how to get into my account. Their way wouldn’t work. After continually trying to get into my account and sort this problem out the Customer Service was so awful, I believe my account was blocked by someone working in this company! As as soon as it was one day over the date of my renewal was over. Somebody had bought it and there’s another website using it that has no reason for using my Domain name, only to use it for the traffic I’ve created over many years. I know there’s lots of theft in the industry. I’m a victim. Do not use this company they are untrussing because their sales team are stealing! I’ve tried everything with them, still trying to communicate with them, but it is a blocked wall. So don’t be surprised if you lose your Domain name and your lifes work! The crazy thing is, they’re giving me access to pay them to renew, yet someone has already stolen it. How misleading. I can still pay them for an extra painful blow! That’s the most cleanest language I’m allowed to use on this platform.

my email and domain wre not available…

my email and domain wre not available for several hours and it takes them over 12 hours to respond with an email. Service used to be good when I was with pickaweb but the new owners are clowns and not intrested in small accounts.

Hello, Mark. Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be to experience any interruption to your email or domain services. The downtime you experienced was the result of scheduled maintenance that was communicated in advance via email and also posted on our status page. This work was necessary to maintain the reliability and performance of the platform, and services were fully restored once the maintenance was completed. Regarding the response time, we did experience higher-than-normal support volumes during this period, which unfortunately led to delays. That said, we recognize the importance of timely communication and are actively working to improve our response times during peak periods. We truly value all of our customers, regardless of account size, and we’re committed to delivering a consistent and reliable service experience. If there’s anything further we can assist with, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Best Regards, David C. Senior Manager

Dreadful experience with Hostek

Dreadful experience with Hostek. Been unable to access my account as they set up 2 factor authentication on my account which does not send a message to my account. As such I have been unable to renew my Domain and all business emails are inactive and have been for 2 weeks. They take approximately 3 days to answer a query and even then unable to assist. Dreadful company with shocking customer service.

Reply from Hostek2026-04-22

Hello, We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how disruptive it can be to lose access to your account and email services. To help protect customer accounts and prevent unauthorized activity, we implemented two-factor authentication (2FA) as an added security measure. While this is now a widely adopted industry standard, we recognize that it can create challenges if it hasn’t been fully set up or accessed in some time. Our support team can assist with securely restoring access, and we encourage you to reach out again if this has not yet been resolved. Regarding response times, we sincerely apologize for the delay you experienced. Periods of high support volume can impact turnaround times, but we are continually working to improve responsiveness and ensure customers receive the help they need as quickly as possible. We understand how critical domain access and email availability are to your business, and we take concerns like yours seriously. If you’re still experiencing issues, please contact us directly so we can prioritize getting this resolved for you. Best Regards, David C. Senior Manager

I have been paying for a starter…

I have been paying for a starter package for more than 6 years, except hostek were never actually hosting my website. At no point in my interactions with them have they ever said that they were not hosting my site, I have no technical knowledge and have found their billing was also an issue through PayPal which also caused a headache. Unlike Ionos who have been great at guiding me through whats involved in running a website and honest when I didnt need a package that I wasnt going to use. Its disapointing that Ionos pointed out that hostek were not hosting my website, but they were certainly charging me for it. Very frustrating -if you dont have technical knowledge, which I dont, to get told its my own fault, yet they knew I was being charged and were not honest about it.

Hi Theresa, I’m really sorry to hear about your experience. I completely understand how frustrating this must feel, especially if you weren’t aware the service was still active. I’ve reviewed your account and its history, and it appears the hosting service remained active on our side during this period. We don’t have visibility into whether a website is actively being used unless the service is cancelled or brought to our attention, which is why billing continued as normal. That said, I understand this situation isn’t ideal, and I’d really like to help find a fair way forward for you. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] so we can take a closer look and assist further. Kind Regards, Josh B.
