Misleading Ads and Poor Customer Service!
This app is definitely a trap. Its ads claim that you can learn through hypnosis, but that is not what I experienced.
I paid for the service, used it for only 10 minutes, and requested a refund based on their advertised 30-day money-back guarantee. However, they have ignored my emails instead of responding.
Even worse, there is no clear way to cancel the subscription. You apparently have to email a customer service team that doesn’t even respond.
Do not make the same mistake I did. Think twice before paying for this service.

This is a bizarre type of scam: the advertisement promises me "language learning via hypnosis," so I believe it, pay, download the app, and sign up. But lo and behold—there isn't the slightest trace of hypnosis on either the website or the app! Less than half an hour after the payment and registration, I immediately request a cancellation of the entire transaction and a refund. That’s when the real fraud comes to light: they refuse to honor my request and come up with a host of excuses. But I know a thing or two about consumer rights; by exposing this as "misleading advertising" and "aggravated fraud," I am going to force them to cough up that money! It won't be a seventy percent discount or a thirty percent refund—they are going to refund the full amount I paid!
Update following the response from Makesyoufluent:
After seeing an ad on Instagram for "language training via hypnosis," I downloaded the *makesyoufluent* app, signed up, and paid $43.99 via PayPal on Sunday, August 15, 2026, at 5:37 PM. I received the payment confirmation from PayPal at 5:38 PM. I then logged into the app and completed the profile setup (proficiency assessment, interests, etc.). Afterward, I scoured the app inside and out, but there wasn't even a trace of hypnosis -not even the letter 'h' of it! I’ve used many AI-powered apps -Duolingo being the main one- to improve my French; I certainly didn't need another AI app! I clicked on this one specifically to try out the 'hypnosis' feature. I wish I never had!
Look, I sent my first message regarding the subscription cancellation request to Makesyoufluent not a month, not a week, or even a day after purchasing the product -but just 33 minutes later, at 6:10 PM. I told them, "Your ad promised subconscious training via hypnosis. Yet, there isn't even a hint of hypnosis in your app! Please cancel the entire transaction and refund my money."
In their first reply, they tried to settle the matter by offering a 70% discount on the full subscription. In their second reply, they claimed, "In accordance with the terms and agreement, we can only offer a 30% refund." Now that their shady tactics have been exposed on a reputable review site, they say, "Oh, we are very sorry your expectations weren't met."
There wasn't a single trick they didn't pull or lie they didn't tell just to avoid refunding a measly sum of money. I’m not just after the $43.99, I’m out to make these fraudsters -who treat consumers like fools- pay for what they’ve done, too!

MakesyouFluent is pretty good for building language skills. It still needs refinement of the AI's 'Tutor' speaking speed when addressing a 'Beginner ' to repeat short sentences.
The AI 'Tutor' speaks rapidly as if he/she is communicating with a native, in my case, Italian. Furthermore, there is another more subtle difference between the AI tutor's delivery from native Italians, whom I have often heard.
A native Italian typically has a more melodic flow that attenuates the structure of their sentences and expressions, while the AI Tudor is more monotone, lacking the subtle attenuating thumbprint that needs to be incorporated into pronunciation practices.
In other words, AI Tudor reads the Italian expressions perfectly but without the subtle melodic tones that are an archetypal identity of Italian expression.

I accidentally subscribed and requested cancellation and a refund the very same day, without using the service at all. My request was denied based on the company's terms.
While I respect that businesses have policies, I have concerns about the clarity of the subscription process and the overall customer-friendly approach to handling honest mistakes.

The app doesn’t work well. It fails to recognise your voice and doesn’t produce options when it asks you to fill in the correct word. They refuse to give you a refund saying you’re too late even though you ask within 7 days.
