Beware of automated billing traps. I signed up and cancelled my services on the exact same day (June 29). Despite my immediate cancellation, they processed an unauthorized $495 charge on my card anyway. I had to file a formal dispute with Capital One to get my money back. Even worse, their systems completely ignored my cancellation—they are still sending me automated alerts claiming they are "working my case" and offering a resolution for a contract I terminated on day one. Utterly dishonest business practices.
Update (7/17/26): I have already formally canceled my service, revoked all authorizations and explicitly refused any further phone consultations or appointments. There is nothing to discuss verbally. The only acceptable outcome is for Optima to reverse the unauthorized $495 charge, issue a billing adjustment showing a zero balance and provide written confirmation that my file is permanently closed. Because Optima failed to process my June 29th cancellation, this matter has already been escalated as an active merchant dispute and formal complaints are on file with both the Better Business Bureau and the California State Attorney General. All future communication from Optima regarding this resolution must be provided strictly in writing.

I’ve been paying Optima Tax Relief for two years now, I’m close to six thousand dollars in and I can’t get a single person there to tell me what’s going on with my case and they haven’t even offered a offer in compromise with the IRS! I think they’re a scam they keep asking me for more money too!

The time it has taken to get to the final review has been substantial. The team had to work multiple times to get our tax information filled out correctly on the initial forms. We spent about 3 weeks going back and forth on the format for social security numbers. Once we got past that part it was so much better. I would recommend that each case be assigned to one individual and that individual be involved in the entire process. Currently waiting on the final word on how much we need to pay back, and so far they have kept their word on not allowing the IRS to take detrimental action against us. I would recommend Optima if you need IRS assistance

Please do yourself a favor and hire a tax attorney.This company has done nothing for my tax situation after 3 years. They dont have a relationship or fast track to IRS, they continually delay tax preparation year after year ultimately delaying any resolution. The IRS is now sending levy and lien letters. I CANNOT GET IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE TO DISCUSS A REFUND ... A FULL ONE which is fair at this point because i am doing my own work on the phone waiting on hold for hours trying to get a hold of a human at the IRS. OPTIMA is a scam that preys on the poor and uniformed. We struggled to give them $7000 to help our tax situation and they have been non responsive with a resolution. There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company. soon i will have to go to the media regarding optima's practices because this is absolutely insane. My and my family's stability and well being are on the line and they couldn't care less. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!

Everyone was great to work with. The only reason I gave you 4 stars out of 5 is due things took several years and I have to pay for interest and penalities on that. I think things could have gone faster. I realize you have loads of other clients, but I also think timing should be a considertion for the client.
I would highly recommend you all again to anyone. I hope once I get cleared up with this mess, I never have to deal with you again...lol (that's a good thing).
