Asked clerk if they price matched, long rambling story about only certain things. I stated a specific item and showed competitors ad and she told me to go shop there then. Staff clearly don't give 2 cents about customers. End rant shopped elsewhere again, and again and again. Merchant 22266700 clerk sco21
Why are there not sales tags hanging on the shelves anymore? Those tiny little stickers are a joke. No one can read those. You’re gonna lose business if you don’t get your act together. I’m ready to move on if this doesn’t change!!!
I found everything I was looking for and Shanon D was very nice at the register.
My things were 45 mins past the delivery window and my milk had spoiled and my tub of ice cream both smelt sour and were sweaty warm and I do not have a car but live 4 mins from the store and this guy couldn't even get to my house before that stuff spoiled. WTH !!!
I really like Safeway there staff is always friendly and helpful. The one thing I really hate is when I'm clipping coupons and see that the only way I'm going to get a deal is if I shop online for pickup or delivery. I like to shop myself and see the staff but I don't get the same deals because I shop in store. I shouldn't get punished and not get the same deals as online shoppers get just because I shop in store. We should all get the same deals wether shopping in store or online. Please make this right and give everyone the same deals not just online shoppers special deals when in store shoppers buy the same products as online shoppers but if we want we have to pay full price just because we choose to shop in store. I shop in store every week and prefer to.
Why have I reached my limit and now will find a new store to replace what I can buy at Safeway? 1) fraudulent and abusive motivations for discontinuing paper bags with handles 2) starting again to require my providing my DOB to buy alcoholic beverages as a senior 3) cutting staff back to inadequately staff registers and stock shelves I don't need this frustration and waste of my time! I'll be shopping elsewhere for the items I typically buy there. I DO greatly appreciate most of the staff, who are with few exceptions Safeway's only glowing asset!
I can but add to the poor reviews already provided about Safeway. I waited nearly 12 weeks for fitting of the ordered security door, having to prompt them to do it. The challenge of communicating with them at the beginning of the process should have warned me, and the snippy demand for payment before they provided an invoice with their bank details was the icing on an unsatisfying experience. The only saving grace was the pleasant young man to installed the door in less than an hour.
Great prices and deals for members. They always have plenty of the sale items in stock. Employees are mostly helpful, friendly and courteous.
Cashier was very pleasant and very helpful
I was charged a bag fee which should not have happened because I paid with a food benefits card. I called the number on the receipt because they have taken care of the problem before. I was told that because it is recurring, I need to go the the store though this time. I called the store and the man that answered said I need to come in to get it resolved basically. I said basically this a a lot of trouble. He said I could do it the next time I come in but then I have to remember to bring the receipt. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager but later I found he was the acting manager. I asked to speak to the manager again but he referred to himself as the manager basically which was false. (I knew the manager was a woman.) He finally said I could call tomorrow.
I am extremely disappointed with Safeway’s health insurance policy and their unjust claim rejection. We filed a hospitalization claim for my family member who was admitted due to severe right leg weakness and pain caused by L4–L5 disc prolapse and nerve compression. The patient underwent MRI, continuous pain management, medications, and physiotherapy under medical supervision at the hospital. Despite this, Safeway rejected the claim stating that the treatment was “conservative” and could have been done on an OPD basis. This is completely unfair and insensitive. Hospitalization was advised by qualified doctors based on the patient’s condition, pain severity, and mobility issues—not by the policyholder’s choice. Insurance is meant to support customers during genuine medical emergencies, not to deny claims using complex exclusion clauses after premiums have been collected for years. Rejecting a valid hospitalization just because no surgery was performed sets a very poor precedent and defeats the purpose of having health insurance at all. This experience has resulted in financial stress and mental harassment for our family. I strongly advise others to read policy exclusions very carefully and think twice before trusting Safeway Health Insurance. Very dissatisfied. Would not recommend.
Safeway.com is horrible because they sell you rotten food and don't refund your money when you complain. When I reported the issues and requested a refund they said they would review my request and get back to me in 24-48 hours. It's been 5 days so I contacted them. I uploaded pictures of the rotten food and expired use by dates. Then they told me they would review my request and let me know within 7 business days whether or not my refund would be approved. I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years but this completely destroyed my trust in this company! They don't seem to care about risking people's health and hurting their budget by selling them inedible food topped off with immense frustration. I don't recommend this online service to anyone!
I shop at Safeway New Westminster/ skytrain location. It is so genius to have a store right there ! when you don't have a car.... Many cashiers are extremely pleasant, smiling, helping bagging your shopping, I often came across Anny J, Maggie , Rebecca, super nice, smiling consistently. Dedicated , giving 110% All over the store, groceries, produce, I find them all nice, I am a very satisfied customer ! Feb 16th Maggie, March 2nd Anny J I go often....
Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day. Obviously people will need corn beef ,cabbage rye bread etc. 930 am went to the bakery and found no rye bread had been baked for the day ???? Employee said buy soda bread ! No apology, just snapped, buy soda bread then. Great customer service
Digital coupons are a bait and switch, these over price errors are not accidents. No company is this poor at basic inventory and pricing management on accident. Either way, between incompetence or malfeasance I have zero trust in Safeway. There should be another class action lawsuit. Yes another.
Safeway continues to gouge consumers. I needed one clove of garlic for dinner. When I got to the check out they charged me $1.99. I said this is just a Clove of garlic. The cashier said the sleeve of garlic is $1.99 and so they are charging that price for a clove. I asked her to take it off my bill and then I said you can put all this stuff back and I walked out without my groceries which was about $50.00. I’ll shop elsewhere from now on, I’m sick of Safeways way of doing business.
I am 86 years old. One of my sma ll pleasures is grocery shopping. I finish with a Starbucks sitting with my husband at tables outside the store. This store at stetson plaza in happy valley removed the places to set. They said because of the high school kids. So safeay doesn't like kids? I have been setting there when they get out of school. Sure they are loud. Happy kids. That's it. Kids are kids . What is wrong with America We used to like kids. I like kids. The other safeway on 35th said they removed there setting area because of homeless. So hire security to tell them they can't hang out. Your customers are the ones that did nothing wrong but they can't set outside now. Neither can your employees.
Safeway store bakery at the Hub in Fremont, Ca provided very poor service. We ordered a cake online six days before pickup. The staff member that received the order left few details for the other staff. Two days before pickup, we got a call that the figurines we requested were not available. The day of pickup, the cake was not complete and without the fruit between the layers. Their display case was nearly empty so that wasn't an alternative for a premade cake with a fruit filling. The cake didnt have the requested decorations or writing. We had to wait for staff to find suitable fugurines and write on the cake. They mentioned it was better to order in the store than online but not why, and it shouldn't matter as both methods should be adequate. After 30 minutes of figuring out how to complete the cake and actually completeing it, they charged us full price and we left disappointed with the experience.
Lord have mercy their prices are high! Normally I buy a four flavored variety cake from Walmart for $14.98. Walmart was out of stock so I tried Giant they didn't care it, so I came to Safeway. For the identical cake it cost $10 more. The cost was $24.99. That's ridiculous!
