Terrible experience

Terrible experience, I had a claim denied for my dog. I appealed the claim after my dogs doctor wrote a letter saying the reason why spot “denied” the claim are false/incorrect medically. They still denied my claim. Sadly I think Spot is just in business for your monthly payment, not your dog’s health. They certainly don’t want to hear they are wrong from a Doctor!

Overall Spot was great, I did have some technical problems with the app but every time I called I got someone live to talk to. Refund process was quicker than I thought.

I had some trouble submitting my claim and had to call customer support. Their team was outstanding. They asked how my pet was going after her procedure then proceeded to tell me that they had already gotten everything fixed for me. There is no confusion and the team member was very concise and helpful with my concerns. My refunds always come in a timely manner as well as claims being taken care of in the same regard.

Good value, competitive, and user friendly

We found Spot through Sam’s Club so we knew it was a good value as far as price, and when we researched further on customer service and items covered we were very pleased to see that it is one of the most competitive and well reviewed pet insurances available. We have always had a dog or two in our family for 37+ years and this is the first time we have had pet insurance for our English Bulldog. Spot has been user friendly for us both online and via telephone. Though it takes some time to submit claims the process is clear and straightforward.

I Did My Homework and It Paid Off

we had to take our 6 month old lab to the emergency twice in 3 days. The vets on call even said Spot Insurance was good. I submitted my claims. One was paid within a couple of days and it paid 90% of the cost. Waiting on the other but it is bigger. The communication on the website is very user friendly and updates quickly. Very pleased. Nationwide for my other lab wasn't good at all.

Do NOT Use Them if you have a Rescue Pet

Sadly, here’s ANOTHER Buyer Beware review. If you are insuring a Rescue pet, and it didn’t come with good medical records(as most rescues don’t), SPOT is not the insurance to go with! Without proof that an issue wasn’t “pre existing” they will absolutely not help. Sadly, we had our rescue less than 4 or 5 months and she needed some care from previous neglect. We submitted our claim. Denied. Spoke to a Representative who suggested we appeal. Appeal submitted. Appeal denied. They labeled her situation as pre-existing. Our Veterinarian reached out on our behalf. No change. They offer zero support in these cases, so I’m here to say don’t spend your money here. We’ve set up an account that is just for our rescue. We’ll save money in there and THAT will be our “insurance” policy for her. Think twice if you’re signing up a rescue. P.S.-The experience date chosen is approximate because the process we went thru with these people was over a period of weeks:-(
