AI generated

Reviewers had a great experience with this company. Customers praise the staff for being incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful when guiding families through the stressful and emotional process of finding proper senior care. Consumers deeply appreciate how quickly advisors set up facility tours and provide useful, well-curated lists of local options tailored to their specific needs. However, some people mentioned receiving relentless phone calls, text messages, and emails that unfortunately continued even after explicitly asking staff to stop communication. A few other people also felt frustrated because certain advisors failed to provide requested information or follow up properly during critical crisis situations.

What people say

A Place For Mom was wonderful!

A Place For Mom was wonderful in helping me locate and tour local assisted living facilities for my mother. My advisor gave me great and uplifting advice as I began and finished this emotional journey. I really felt like they cared and were knowledgeable. It was so nice to not feel alone in this process and decision. My mother likes her new place very much and is well cared for.

Before, during and after care

Before we found APfM, we had lukewarm receptions from facilities we were considering for help with our Dad. Once we got APfM involved, we had a viable list based on our specific needs and they even scheduled tours for us. The facilities we toured were already briefed on what we had in mind and all but one (of 5) were very welcoming and eager to answer all of our questions. We could not be happier with the assistance APfM provided in not only finding a facility but also consistent follow-up during and after the decision process.

We were in crisis mode…

We were in crisis mode! Our 90 year-old mom, who is legally blind and has dementia, was supposed to leave rehab the Sunday of Memorial Day after a 3-week hospital stay, and return to her assisted living facility. That Thursday night before at 9pm, the head nurse of her facility told us she could not return to the assisted living where she’d been for nearly two years. We had no idea what to do or where to turn, and had to act fast. So, I went to the website for A Place for Mom and they were WONDERFUL! They listened carefully to our situation, asked us a few questions so that they had a clear picture of mom’s needs and said they’d call us back in 30 minutes. Sure enough, the phone rang and we were scheduled to view several facilities the next day and the following. A Place for Mom took us from panic mode to thoughtful next steps. Out of the five or six recommended facilities that had immediate openings, we were able to select a lovely new home for our mom that could accommodate her needs and make her feel welcomed. No more panic, just peace of mind. We are grateful for the services provided by A Place for Mom.

I received excellent advice

I received excellent advice. The top recommendation turned out to be the perfect place for my parents. The questions asked really narrowed down the options and identified a community that was close to my sister's work, allowed them to keep their dog, and was affordable. I couldn't have asked for a better match.

I recently started a home care agency…

I recently started a home care agency and came across A Place for Mom. During our initial Zoom meeting, I shared my concerns, and they explained that I would need to prepay a total of $580, which they described as covering 10 client referrals. My understanding was that $58 would be deducted from this prepaid balance only for each referral that resulted in a signed client. I had done my research on them, and some reviews mentioned alleged scamming practices. However, they assured me that they would deliver on their promises and would not set me up for failure which is why I entrusted them. However, during the onboarding Zoom session after I had paid, they introduced a condition that had never been disclosed before. They explained that regardless of how many referral fees were deducted, my prepaid balance would always have to remain at $580 at the beginning of each month. This meant they would automatically withdraw additional money from my bank account to replenish the balance. This automatic replenishment was never discussed with me before I signed up. I also noticed that they deducted referral fees as soon as they sent a lead, even when the phone numbers provided were unreachable. I suspected that most of these leads were fake. So they just send you a random number from their fake list and immediately deduct their money as soon as they send you a number of the potential fake client. In one instance, they even charged me for a lead that was located outside my service area and faraway in another state, so I did not contact that individual because I could not provide services there. Within just one week of signing up, they had already deducted fees for four leads, even though none of those contacts could be reached. Because I was concerned about the undisclosed automatic withdrawals, I instructed my bank to close my account to prevent any further deductions. I requested to cancel my account and receive a refund because the service I received was not what I had agreed to when I enrolled. They denied my request, stating that the payment was for leads only and not for referrals that resulted in actual clients. This was inconsistent with my understanding of the agreement and with the expectations that were communicated to me before I signed up. Don’t fall for this scam company what they promise is not what they deliver. I think as soon as they take your details they just forget about you and start looking for their next victim to scam without providing any clients. Do business with them at your own risk.

Just added to the stress in a difficult time

We were looking for nursing homes. All the results it gave us were Assisted living. We would not qualify for assisted living. It was a huge waste of our time. Then all the calls started. Multiple calls a day trying to sell us services we did not need. We have a lot going on and weeding out all the calls from people we didn't need to hear from compounded the stress of our current situation. I knew I should not have contacted this organization but in desperation I didn't listen to that inner voice.

Predatory

I made a call on behalf of my parents for some information. The people were kind and provided me a list of places. What they do not tell you is they screen the places they hand over to you and only those that give them a referral bonus are included. They also give your information directly to these places and then your phone starts ringing off the hook...texts, calls, etc.

Samantha was a great listener and was…

Samantha was a great listener and was very helpful curating a list of options for me to tour and investigate. I do think I needed more up front education about the way assisted living places charge in that the base amount is not close to the actual monthly fees once medication management and additional personal care are added on top. So when I told my budget it was not really enough to afford many of the places on the list since they charge à la carte for services on top of the base rent . I ended up running out of time for finding a place due to a parent’s unexpected fall and hospital stay , so I had to make choices quickly. Luckily there was one affordable all inclusive priced option for us which is what we chose. I valued the appointments and tracking feature and Samantha’s checking in about my progress as I toured.

Compassionate Guidance Every Step of the Way ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

From the very first phone call, the team at A Place for Mom made what could have been an overwhelming process feel manageable and personal. Jennifer was my primary point of contact, but I had the opportunity to speak with several members of the team throughout the process, and every single one of them was outstanding. What impressed me most was how much they genuinely cared. They were always responsive, patient, and willing to answer every question I had. If Jennifer happened to be unavailable, another team member stepped in seamlessly, already familiar with my situation and just as invested in helping me find the right place for Paul. I never felt like I was navigating this alone. Thanks to their guidance, compassion, and consistent support, I was able to find the right fit for Paul at Beaver Lake Lodge. During such an emotional and important time, having people who truly care made all the difference. I can’t thank the entire team enough for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication. I would highly recommend A Place for Mom to anyone searching for senior care for a loved one.
