Used to be my go to for travel…

Used to be my go to for travel arrangements. I am a platinum member but sadly I will no longer be using them as they are a mess! Computer glitches have resulted in very costly ( for me!) mistakes. And it is impossible to talk to a human or get a response from the customer service. So sad… they were such a great company…😢

Very disappointing

I booked an 8-night stay through Expedia but never checked in or stayed at the hotel. The Expedia agent told me that they had contacted the hotel and that the hotel had agreed to charge me for only one night. However, I was charged for all 8 nights. Despite several follow-ups with Expedia, I have received no refund or resolution.

Never book with Expedia ever

I spent approximately 5 hours and made 8 separate customer service calls trying to change a flight I had booked through Expedia. Multiple Expedia agents repeatedly told me that my flight could not be changed and that I would need to purchase a completely new ticket. I was eventually connected with an agent who successfully changed the flight — meaning the change was possible the entire time. This was incredibly frustrating and potentially very expensive. I was seriously considering purchasing an additional flight for 800 dollars because Expedia's representatives repeatedly told me my existing ticket could not be changed. Eight customer service interactions and approximately five hours of my time were wasted because I was given incorrect information. I would strongly recommend that travelers book flights directly with the airline rather than through Expedia, because if something goes wrong, getting accurate help appears to be extremely difficult. Expedia needs to seriously address the training and accuracy of its customer service representatives. Customers should not have to call eight times to finally find someone who knows the actual rules of their ticket.

If there were 0 stars

If there were 0 stars. Then you would get -6. Your company is horrible. You take people money and make up BS rules to never refund them their hardworking money. I booked a flight for someone. They couldn’t go because of an issue. I canceled the flight. And I couldn’t get the refund back, nor any credit to my name. I was the one that booked it. Under my name and credit card. I should get the refund. Or the credit should come back to me. I will never book anything with your company ever again. I will let everyone know as well to stay away from your company. You are a bunch of thrives.

Never use Expedia to fly

I have used Expedia often for years. My mother is in Palliative care and had to change flights around and I have never waisted so much time and effort to get pushed around and blaming the airlines and to call the airlines when the airlines send us back to Expedia. I will never use Expedia again for something that should have been easy and simple to repair. They just lost a good loyal customer. Book direct with airlines to avoid confusion and for any customer service. Thank you for your response but my son still missed the flight because of your customer service. I am available anytime to discuss to help improve your internal process, but the main problem is taking ownership of the problem and helping. That is NOT what happened

Absolutely terrible customer service

Absolutely terrible customer service. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with Experia. When the airline cancel a flight that is part of your trip, they don’t take responsibility or make any real effort to help you find an alternative they simply leave you stranded. Everything seems fine as long as everything goes according to plan. But the moment something goes wrong, such as a flight cancellation, don’t expect any assistance or support. You are basically left on your own to figure everything out. Expedia should be there for its passengers, especially when the airline itself cancels a flight. This experience was extremely frustrating and completely unacceptable. I would not recommend Expedia and will definitely think twice before booking with them again.

I feel like Expedia took our holiday!

This was devastating! Expedia took over $4,000. We went to catch our flight; they said we needed an ETA, and it would take a few minutes. 6 hours later, we missed our flight, and then the ETA arrived. They said to come the next day, and we'd be put on another flight. No one helped us; British Airways said to phone Expedia, and Expedia said to phone British Airways. Expedia blamed us and said we 'no-showed '; we were there 3.5 hours early. They told us to cancel since we didn't make the flights, and we would get the tax back from $3,500. Our hotel wouldn't give us our money back either, making it over $4,000+. After being on the phone yesterday for 6 hours, hearing them talk in circles, and today for 8 hours talking in circles, deflecting their responsibility, lying, and saying we 'no-showed,' we are giving up. It feels like Expedia has what they can! We are so devastated, and we can't afford another holiday!

Beware of the broken booking system: €3,000 frozen, zero confirmation, zero tickets, zero help!"

Absolute nightmare! I attempted to book a flight and hotel package through Expedia for €4,000. During checkout, the system encountered a glitch: the airline placed a massive pre-authorization hold on my card for nearly €2,890 without my final confirmation or generating any PNR/booking reference. Moments later, Expedia's payment gateway failed the rest of the transaction because it wanted to charge me AGAIN for a FULL PRICE OF €4,000 and I didn't have the remaining funds for the full package. Now, my money is frozen, I have zero bookings, no confirmation number, and customer support on the hotline was completely useless—telling me they "can't see my account or reservation in the system and cannot help me, I should contact my bank". Expedia took my funds (or locked them) and left me stranded with a broken system error. Fix this immediately and release the unauthorized hold on my card, or I will escalate this case to European consumer protection authorities for unauthorized transaction handling!

We've used Expedia for year for flights…

We've used Expedia for year for flights and hotels and have always been happy. For the first time we just tried to cancel a flight (2 seats) that we paid extra for because it said they were fully refundable. We couldn't cancel on line easily so had to call Customer Support who said we could get a refund minus 2 X $68 "Airline Tax" that wasn't refundable i.e. pay tax on something we never purchased??? To make a long story short we escalated to a Supervisor and, after 47 minutes on the phone, Expedia agreed the taxes were refundable as well and processed a refund for the entire amount. I am so angry I could scream and will never use Expedia again.

Expedia doesn’t post the truth!

I tried to leave a review on my vacation experience and because it is not good they won’t accept it. I was telling the truth and I had pictures to back me up. I will no longer use Expedia. They don’t want the public to know the truth. I find that very disappointing . Anything to make a dollar even if it means disappointing people on their family vacations.

Misleading site & false advertising

Edit: changing my review & stars to reflect Expedia's response. Per Expedia's response, I ended up in contact with agent Allen T. After reiterating the situation and offering to send screenshots proving that the mobile website did not list the hotel's check-in time anywhere until after payment, Allen was able to procure a refund waiver. I have no idea if the hotel ever received money considering that the cancellation occurred so shortly after booking; it's unclear if this refund is coming directly from Expedia, or if the hotel finally accepted the refund request. Either way, I am impressed at how quickly this was dealt with. Original: Absolutely terrible company. Our flight was originally scheduled to depart at 8:30pm. After being on the plane and in queue on the runway for a few hours, we were told that we must return to the gate since the flight would be delayed until the next day due to bad weather. Not wanting to sleep at the airport, I specifically Googled for "hotels near me with late night check-ins". Expedia explicitly advertised a select hotel with seemingly wide-open check-in times (i.e, no check-in time was indicated on the mobile site, nor was the check-in time indicated anywhere under the special check-in instructions). It was only AFTER I made payment that the email confirmation and mobile site both displayed a check-in time of 3pm. I called the hotel, and they confirmed that it would not be possible for us to check-in overnight. An expedia agent claims to have made a refund request to the hotel which the hotel apparently denied, yet, my understanding is that the payment goes to expedia prior to check-in, and it is only AT check-in time that expedia authorizes the hotel to charge their virtual card. Bear in mind that the hotel booking and cancellation occurred within a small window from 1am-2am, well before the actual check-in time of 3pm. None of this would have happened if the check-in time was displayed before payment.

Be careful when buying a low-cost…

Be careful when buying a low-cost airline ticket. I bought a ticket to Prague, but it never appeared on Ryanair. Expedia doesn’t seem to care about low-cost airlines, and I never got any help from them. I lost the money for my ticket and had to buy a new one directly from Ryanair. I would never use Expedia again. Edit: After following your suggestions and contacting customer ‘support’, I’ve been told there’s nothing they can do due to having no authority and sent me in circles to chase it up with Ryanair who I have already spoken to. So all that’s come of it is just me losing money and wasting time.

☆☆☆☆ ☆ 0Star

☆☆☆☆ ☆ 0Star I have been using Expedia for years, but after this experience, I am seriously questioning whether I will ever use them again. I was booking a vacation package that included a flight and rental car. At the final step of checkout, the price suddenly increased. I did not agree to the new price, yet I ended up with a pending charge from the airline without receiving a confirmation email, itinerary, or booking confirmation. No customer should ever have to wonder whether they were charged for something they never agreed to purchase. What made the experience even worse was Expedia’s customer service. I spent my time explaining what happened only to be transferred around and told there was nothing they could do. The representatives were often difficult to understand, communication was frustrating, and no one seemed empowered to actually resolve the problem. If customer service cannot fix issues or provide clear answers, what is the purpose of having customers call in the first place? This is not the first time I’ve seen Expedia display one price only for it to increase at the last second. It leaves customers feeling misled and pressured into paying more than they originally agreed to. Transparent pricing shouldn’t be optional—it should be the standard. Travel is already expensive and stressful. Customers deserve honesty, clear communication, and support when something goes wrong. Instead, I was left with uncertainty, wasted time, and a pending airline charge for a booking I never intended to make at the higher price. Expedia needs to take responsibility for these pricing issues and improve its customer service. Until that happens, I cannot recommend booking through Expedia. There are too many other travel companies that value transparency and treat their customers with respect.

Booking process

I am writing this review to warn other travelers. I tried to call the Holiday Inn directly to book a room. I searched for the hotel’s phone number, but the call was routed to Expedia without making it clear that I was no longer speaking with the hotel. Believing I was booking directly with the hotel, I completed the reservation. When I arrived, the hotel staff showed me that the hotel’s actual rate was about $107–109 per night, while I had been charged about $234–238 per night through Expedia. The hotel told me they could not correct the price because the reservation had been made through a third party. In my opinion, this booking process is misleading. Customers trying to reach a hotel directly should not be redirected without a clear warning that they are speaking with a third-party agency. Please be careful. Before giving your credit card information, make sure you are actually speaking with the hotel and not with a booking agency.

Expedia sucks

If I could leave no stars that would be preferable , but one is the lowest option available . They sneak in fees and take money before you pay the full price, then keep that money even if cancelled. Don’t even notify of the company policies directly, so more surprise fees are presented. Total crap factory , I will stick with direct service from now on.

I use to use Expedia all the time for…

I use to use Expedia all the time for my car rentals, this time they slipped a third party in to make the reservation with Hertz, they book it and the next thing I get an up front charge for $503 before I even pick up the car two weeks later. I thought that it was part of the actual rental charge. When I got to Hertz two weeks later to pick up the car, they had no record of the 503 charge and charged me $665 for the week. Rental cars.com said that basically it was a charge to make the reservation, total BS. My car rental for the week now cost me $1,168 for the week. DON'T use Expedia, they are now using these middle men companies rather than directing you directly to the car rental companies and these add charges are slipped in with out notice, I am done with Expedia!

I booked flights through Expedia

I booked flights through Expedia, they took the money out and I had confirmation emails of my flights. Then a few days later, the money spent on flights suddenly get re-imbursed to me. After checking my booking reference of my flights, there's no history of my flights. After speaking to Expedia about my problem, they said they could not see any history of me booking with them (even though I had confirmation email) after saying I want to make a formal complaint my details were suddenly found. Then apparently when I booked my flights it was only 'pending' even though money came out and I had confirmation emails. Now they are saying I have to re-book the flights (and the cost of flights has gone up). So now I have booked through another company, as I am never giving my money to them again. Also, when I said I want to make a formal complaint I only get emailed a link a to help support page, where you are actually unable to make a complaint.
