My local movie theater was closed and torn down. I canceled my account with movie pass. They told me they can't give me any refund. That I have to use my 68 credits in the next two weeks. They are robbing me of my money.
Moviepass made me pay $20 for $16 movie last night…
I paid $20 for $16 movie last night using moviepass.
Please read that again. This is 100% a rip off.
In addition to all above, at the box office moviepass ADDED additional 7 more credits to the cost. Dont believe anyhting on the app. When you go to theater the price increases. its $20/a month in NYC (the min moviepass charges here)
With alamo month you can pay $29/month and watch a total of 30 movies per month!! (1 movie a day)
Also AMC has a similar deal.
And also REGAL.
And also a few other brands.
This is the worst deal ever in the history of movie ticketing.
I was really excited at first but I've done the math...
I was really excited at first and was feeling good about the MoviePass experience. I joined right away at the $20/mo tier. It worked out to about 29 cents per credit. Movies were as little as 14 credits during the week, lots more on the weekends, so I learned quickly to only see movies Sunday through Thursday. Then Thursday started being a high credit day so I switched to Sunday through Wednesday. Then I became a senior and it was cheaper for me to not use the pass for a matinee. Then the minimum credit went up to 24. But as long as I was careful about what times and days I saw the movies, MoviePass was still a deal. THEN, about two weeks ago, credits went up to 36 per movie, even for a matinee. That made it at least 50 cents more than I would pay not using MoviePass, sometimes as much as $3.50 more, minimum. I repeatedly wrote to customer support and received scripted responses that didn't address my question. I'll also mention that I'd been requesting they put my local theater on the list, a Regal just a block away, but nine months later, it's still not on the list and the theater does not accept MoviePass.
Anyway, I'm not sure why MoviePass exists. The only way I see it making a profit is if people neglect to see a movie during the month they pay for. To rely on forgetfulness is a bad business plan (in my opinion).
I really wanted MoviePass to work. It's fun being part of an exclusive fan club. But the lack of interaction with other fans, the terrible customer service, and the lack of an actual discount makes it unacceptable.
What an awful experience! I have had this app for 10 months, thinking that unused credits would roll over but they delete them and you only get to keep like two months worth of it, and if you are not a member any longer you can't use the credit points. This is awful, and its steeling money!! Hard pass for future purposes, and if someone from customer experience reads this, I want my money back! Gotta love Cinemark and this other places where all unused credits just roll over!
Went to the theater and the card was denied for the ticket. Contacted customer support and told "because you're trying to get ticket for IMAX and we don't support it"
If you don't support, why making the reservation open for this movie??? Why not give me a notification before sending me to the theater?
Don’t trust this company. I had just signed up to them years ago and they went bankrupt. I never received any kind of compensation for the year I paid for. Then they went back in business.. and still, I have not received any kind of compensation. They’ll steal from you. If you like to throw away money, go for it.
It gets me out of the house to see great movies in their prime state which is on the big screen. Now I’m not on the computer, phone and Netflix/roku every free minute. I don’t worry about price. Sometimes I go to use points and I’m never disappointed. After the first time it’s easy. I’m forever indebted to MoviePass for a wonderful product
They keep raising their points on weekend movies, now i can only watch one weekend movie with my basic membership. Two stars since no issues with the card so far.
I can't cancel moviepass. Customer service doesn't respond when I say I want to cancel. I've been charged for seven months and want out. I don't use it.
I've sent several emails asking to be canceled. No response.
How do I cancel
2nd time I’ve gone to theater with app error.
Today no showtimes for any theaters no movies.
Support article at site says resolved July 29
Today July 31.
Previously had problem with MoviePass card. Customer sent me email 2 weeks later.
Today's support says it will take them sometime to reply because they are swamped with issues.
For 2$ more I can just get they’re chains 3 movies per week and reserve online.
MoviePass is just SCAM and waste of time and money! Please don’t think of having subscription! It doesn’t work, can’t even check in today! Couple days ago kept declining the payment! And the time before all the movie times where wrong!!! I tried the customer service chat couple times, I waited and got someone to chat with me! They didn’t do anything! Seriously there is no point of the customer service because they just explain what is happening! That is all! Every time i get upset over this and it ruined the movie on me! Run away form this SCAM
First time we used it (at AMC) worked great. Tried to use it today and was told by the manager of the theater they didn't accept MoviePass even though I went thru the app and checked in. Only reason I got movie pass was to go to this theater which being disabled is the only one I can go to on my own. (Hubs took me to the first movie). So I guess I am back to the $5 movie Tuesday. I am so disappointed with MoviePass. I was so hoping they'd do right by us this time.
MoviePass has once again left me feeling utterly deceived and frustrated. Their service is a complete disaster, with a malfunctioning app, constant errors during ticket purchases, and a card that abruptly stopped working. To make matters worse, their customer service is virtually nonexistent, leaving customers stranded with no support. After enduring this terrible experience, I promptly canceled my subscription. Save yourself the trouble and avoid MoviePass entirely. There are far better alternatives out there that actually prioritize customer satisfaction and deliver on their promises.
We have been using this app for 3 months and it has been nothing but problems. Today drove 20 minutes to a theater and got decline on both of our cards. Trying to reach any type of customer service is non existent. We were with the original version and yes it had its flaws but they had a great call center and were always able to help. This new owner must be just putting all the subscription money in his pocket and not putting anything in infrastructure. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE CLOSE DOWN THEIR ACVOUNTS AND PLEASE NO NEW MEMBERS SIGN UP. Maybe this will wake up the CEO and he could apologize to all of us that have paid and have had nothing but issues. The second largest problem besides the big decline today is that allot of movies listed are NOT AVAILABLE FOR SHOWINGS??????Why are we paying money to get only some trash left over movie????? PLEASE DONT BUY
Absolutely awful product. App is trash and customer service is nonexistent. Will walk away from 3 months of credits and no movies to sign up for Regal’s program. Do not waste your time. I was an original movie pass customer and this new and improved version is just as bad, no worst than before they went bankrupt. They will go bankrupt again.
