Pet Backer does not back up customers.
I booked a pet sitter to take care of my pet during the holidays. During the 2nd day of the job the sitter told me that she was not going to be able to walk my dog during his regular set hours because she had also personal matters to attend, other than the job she was hired for. The pet sitter let my dog loose once, and it ran away. Luckily someone else stopped him. When I came back home, the apartment was so untidy that this one fact will explain how the rest was left: There were urine and stool stains in the toilet, there was hair all over the shower. The rest of the house was just a mess. When I ask the pet sitter what happened, the response was that it was not the pet sitter job to be a maid. The flat was given tidy, and expectation was for the sitter to clean after herself and maintain it clean with common hygiene practices. I rated the sitter and was expecting the app staff to contact me, the only thing they did was saying apologize for the bad experience can we release the payment now? I challenged them to take ownership of the situation and lift their standards and response to customers, and one more time I only got we are sorry for your experience these situations rarely happen, nothing else from them.

When a pet owner makes a complaint we assist in investigating the sitter and take actions such as restricting them or banning them from the platform when the investigation shows the sitter to be negligent. The app does not work! It is ran by a team of very incompentent and greedy people
Messaging between pet owners and pet sitters are heavily restricted. Say a word that the app does not like, your messaging will be limited to their canned response. The canned response does not work and make you seem like a robotic crazy person and surely makes it hard to get bookings. Words that can block you can be ’ app’, ’contact’, etc. If you want to unblock, you need to ’subscribe to their sponsors’, which costs 70 bucks. The entire app is laggy and absolutely no user friendly. Whoever runs this app is highly incompentent and greedy.

Hello Tran, Thank you for the feedback. We promote safety and trust on our community and advice that all communication be made only on the platform to protect you and the pet owner privacy as well as for resolution of disputes.
However if you felt our AI was incorrect you may always request our team to review and restore your account. The sponsor subscription is optional and reserved for sitters who would like to support the platform to grow even further. You do not need one to restore your account if you did not share your contact information.
The template system was also provided so you may at least still contact the pet owner instead of not being able to respond entirely to help you win the booking.

This app makes you pay to message sitters/pet owners
The app restricts your communication between clients/sitters, you can’t share your phone numbers. Which means, if your pets have special needs, you can’t have call to discuss that with your sitter. If you share your phone number, they will block your messages, and ask you to pay $70 to unblock. It seems the app is ran by very greedy and incompetent people. There are better apps out there that takes less percentage and facilitates better communication between sitters and pet owners. It’s infuriating to use this app.

We advice not to share personal contact information for your privacy and safety. The app has a full messaging system which helps in explaining your needs. It is also safer to have your needs in black and white to protect your pet in the event of a dispute. We also do not charge anything to unblock if requested. I was interested in a boarding which said $30 a day and $10 a day for additional dog for 4 days. WHY did they quote me $400 total and negotiated. I asked the person I’m not understanding the $400 quoted and never got a response. After searching the website I could not find anything about additional charges.

Any single job will be paid a full month after the completion date for tiny sums of money. If they didn't claim that they pay out in 2-5 business days, this would not be a problem necessarily, but they choose to lie?
This app operates in different countries where class action lawsuits may not be available. l had no idea Singapore is so sketchy.

My initial assessment that this app is sketch is right. Actually did some pet sitting/ walking through the app. They have hung on to the payments for a nearly a month now, still not paid out. Support keeps telling me to wait. Similar to other reviews here. Scary how gratuitous it is.
Will l be paid? l will update this review, possibly file a class action lawsuit.

Signed up to sit. Got a request/ job within 1 minute. l check the map of the job and it's in the middle of the sea (the city l'm in rn is an island.) The app then tells you to verify by getting 3 testimonials. The job waiting is a real incentive to refer your contacts. But then, when the job request has no picture or testimonials of its own, but has made almost 200 requests for a single pomeranian, it's pretty obvious that it's a carrot dangling in front of you to push referrals. Starting thr relationship with dishonesty doesn't bode well. No thanks, l'll take my biz elsewhere.

All payments made for a meet and greet is fully refundable if you are not satisfied with the Backer after that.
The service is unethical. As someone providing services, I only get 50% of the charges from the clients The app taking 25% and adding fees, insurance etc. It takes about a month to get any payment. Not a good experience and actively recommend not using it. Very unfair to low income society members just trying to make some more money.
A petsitter accepted the job to have my babies. We transferred $375 to Petbacker, however, due to petsitter personal reasons, she could not take my babies.
I asked PetBacker for a refund, they offered a total refund, but later they changed their mind and offered a coupon, which was not accepted. They said that the total refund will be issued, but still, I am waiting for my money back after more than a month of waiting.
If you expect a refund, they will not give it back, even when the job was not performed
I am a pet sitter and a dogwalker and I am registered at many platforms. I love PetBacker because all available jobs in my area are broadcasted to me instead of having to wait until a pet owner picks you like on other platforms. The sign up process is a bit of a pain, but I find it reassurring that they make sure you are the person you claim to be. PetBacker offers nice jobs, like dog walking, pet sitting, boarding and I also worked as a pet taxi and picked up pets at the airport and at the shelter and bring them home.
I signed up for PetBacker two days ago and I’m shocked about that platform, since I only got contacted by creepy, horrible men since then. One was specifically disgusting and vulgar suggesting that he would like me to come over for sex with his dog. I btw didn’t have any pictures of myself on my profile, but just had my age indicated and that I’m female. I contacted the service of PetBacker several times and in the end they removed the user. However, I’m shocked about the customer service's indifference. When I asked, if PetBacker applies any measurements or guidelines trying to ensure at least digital safety, such as double-checking some of the user’s profiles, they merely responded that everybody has the right to access their platform.
I cannot recommend PetBacker based on my experience. This is not a platform for dog-sitting, but for sexual harassment.
Customer service is run by a bunch of amateurs not willing to help or understand
It's easier to set up an international bank account than working with them , but most of all having to deal with an apalling customer service that at times you think you're dealing with authomated answer. I send my picture and my ID picture, but apparently it is not enough, they are not able to check a face against a picture, so they need you to actually hold it to your face and take a selfie. I explained to them 6 times, that at the moment my ID is in UK to apply for my stay after brexit and that I will receive it back in February, I'm in Prague at the moment. It's like talking to a wall, on top of everything else they allowed many requests form clients to come trough and I'm not even able to answer to them , making me look rude and not willing to work. If for Petbacker my account is not worth or secure enough , even with so many references and years of experience, to be put online due to a stupid issue like that, at least don't make it visible until the process is complete. The app as it's now is a joke, they're so worry to loose commission, that even the basic rules of being corteous enough to answer an enquire are forbidden
I found a great and friendly sitter who is willing to take care of my cats here. With affordable prices and user friendly apps, it really made this an awesome experience.
I had a wonderful experience with their sitter. My sitter took great effort and sent me lots of photos in the app. They even had a walk tracking system which was awesome which let me see where the sitter took my baby for walks.
