I am a first time home buyer, with very little real estate knowledge. While getting quotes for a Home Owners Policy, I came across KIN Insurance. I had never heard of them. I spoke to Aysha Rivera who took the time to walk me through what I needed (and what I didn't). She was incredibly helpful and patient. With my lack of knowledge, she needed to be. Even though the quote she gave me was better than anything else I'd seen, I told her I was going to continue to shop around. She was not offended, she told me, "Well Yeah, that's what you need to do". Because I had never heard of KIN, I decided to do some research into the company. I liked what I saw and ultimately got back in touch with Aysha who set me up with a policy, for the amount previously offered. It was painless. For the last month I've been dealing with Realtors, Mortgage Brokers, Home Inspectors and my Financial Advisers. Dealing with Aysha was a real pleasure. She explained things. She explained terms I have heard over the years, without really understanding what they meant. When I was researching KIN, I saw a lot of really great customer reviews. I can honestly say, they are not exaggerations. And, Yes, they really gave me a great quote for my Home Owners Policy.

I originally went with Kin because they offered excellent coverage and a better competitive rate. I have renewed with them because they've kept my rate low, even reducing it by $300. Luckily, I have not had a reason to make a claim. So I cannot give a review on that process.

After we had wind mitigation inspection and after we paid the policy, we then received an email to have a self inspection of the house with 22 plus photos we need to take and if photos are not as they like it, policy will be cancelled. When I asked Dylan before we paid and before wind mitigation if we need 4 point inspection he said no, Kin does not require it, but never mentioned we will need to complete a self inspection. Where is transparency? We should have known this from the beginning. This is very sneaky kind of business.
