I've been holding a renter's insurance…

I've been holding a renter's insurance for about one year and a half. I like that there have been no climbs in the cost-- after one year, I extended for the same 5$ a month. Now, what I was very pleasantly surprised about is that when I had to make a claim (under 1000 usd), the process was very smooth and automatic--I submitted all the documents in a chat and the claim was processed instantly.

We're truly touched by your kind words and we're so glad we could show up for you and your beloved animal. We'll make sure our team hears this, thank you!

The best thing I ever did

We have had terrible luck with our kittens from so many infections and surgeries to even surviving FIP, the only reason two are still alive and with us is lemonade pet insurance. I have tears writing this. I have recommended lemonade every person around me who has pets. You made claims so easy and and fast and you saved 2 out of our 3 kitten’s lives. Thank you. Even though both cats are now 1 year old adults and completely healthy I am never ending my insurance and I am making sure all my friends have one too.

Reply from Lemonade2026-08-25

We're genuinely moved by this and we're so glad we could be there for your kittens through such a difficult journey. Two healthy one year olds who almost didn't make it, that means everything to us. Thank you for trusting us and for sharing something so personal.

Do not give them a cent for any type of coverage

Do not, I repeat do not go with lemonade. People may make lemonade out of lemons but lemonade insurance makes horse shit out of your premiums. They are inept, and that may be because they are AI driven and AI can make egregious mistakes, but they don't have a clear channel of communication within their departments which makes them undependable in every aspect of their company

No help at all

Do not get home insurance with this ridiculous company. They seem to be largely powered by AI and therefore you spend very little time speaking to actual people. I recently had a burst water pipe that caused a load of water damage and absolute chaos in my home. Lemonade were completely useless to me in this horrible time. To even submit a claim you have to go through their awful automated process which includes a MANDATORY video explanation of you saying what has happened, and a video showing damage. I had to film myself in my pitch black house at 10pm when I was trying to sort this all out and my electrics weren’t working and the floor was soaking wet. It was great fun. You are not allowed to progress without going through this process, which I’ve found both times I’ve tried to do, was buggy and would force close the app when I tried to go through it. I had an absolute hell of a time trying to find a number to actually speak to someone which they seem to try and hide as best they can. When I did finally speak to someone they told me they weren’t interested in the faulty pipe that caused the leak but just about the floor. They didn’t want to send anyone out to look at the house, the structure etc, everything was done via emails they didn’t seem to want to speak to me. They told me to source my own trades and get quotes and come back to them. I ended up recouping all the money off the energy company that installed the faulty pipe. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company for something as important as home insurance.

Fast payout when claims are covered

I adopted a four year old cat and after I had him for about three months I bought an insurance plan from Lemonade with $500 deductible and 90% coverage. It was one of the cheapest on the market—I got about 15 quotes for comparison. I read the policy carefully and purchased the extra add-on for vet visits. Twelve days after I bought the policy, my cat (who had been otherwise completely healthy thus far), developed vomiting and loss of appetite for 48 hours and I took him into the emergency vet where they did diagnostic studies and eventually released him after an overnight hospital stay. The bill was over $4000. Because the illness fell within the fourteen day wait period after you purchase a policy, Lemonade denied the claim on the basis this was a preexisting condition. I suspected this would happen since it was clearly stated in the policy when I bought it that there was a waiting period, so I couldn’t really fault them. It was just really bad luck that it happened within the wait period, because he never had this issue prior to buying the policy and actually hasn’t had the issue since in the three months since the episode. I am not sure what will happen if my cat does have another episode of vomiting/loss of appetite again—whether they will never cover this symptom again, or whether they will consider it a new issue if enough time elapses. Then last month (about three months after the first hospitalization), my cat swallowed a string (which can be dangerous to cats), and I took him back to the ED where they tried to get him to vomit unsuccessfully and then did an endoscopy to remove the string (successful!). The bill was also over $4000. This time when I submitted the insurance claim, they covered it (minus $500 deductible and 10% copay, of course) within hours of submitting the claim. It was a smooth experience. All-in-all, I am grateful I got the insurance and grateful they did cover the latter claim. I don’t know if my premiums will go up next year but I’m willing to purchase another policy again from them as long as the premiums are reasonable.

We appreciate the honest and thorough review and we're so glad your cat is okay. Really glad the second claim experience felt this smooth and we hope he stays healthy and string free going forward!

Let Down

I took out a policy in February. I then had a wood burner installed. I sent an email to Lemonade, they got back to me asking for paper work. This is when I noticed the house number of my property was incorrect. I sent several emails but there was no response! I then phoned them and pointed out the mistake. The guy from Lemonade told me no problem. He corrected the number and told me he would send a confirmation email. Great I thought. No email came. Contacted again, then told they couldn't do that!!!! I had to cancel the policy and was charged £120 because I was 6 months into the policy. If anything had of happened would they of settled my claim? I don't think so. Rubbish!!!!

Communication a real problem!

Attempted to take out house insurance yesterday. Whilst the first monthly payment is showing as pending from my bank account, I have had zero confirmation of the policy. Zero documentation. It’s proving impossible to communicate with anyone there, except some useless bot called ‘Maya’. It does not bode well for the future and, should I actually have a policy with them, I will be cancelling!

When Marcus left his voicemail…

When Marcus left his voicemail detailing my claim he said, “This will be your ONLY payment”. It came across as rude. I wasn’t expecting more than one payment, so there was no need for him to say it like that. The process of itemize everything that I lost needs to be streamlined as well. All in all, Lemonade needs to have more compassion for their clients. I lost a lot in my situation, and I am still reeling from it.

This people are sketchy

This people are sketchy, i got insurance for my dog, i put a claim and they took 2 months and half to tell me it was denied , in the meantime i was paying $100 monthly for insurance to them , so after i got deny they dont want to refund me the 4 months that i paid and i didn’t even used the insurance once they gave the talk about no refunds after 30 days blah blah blah , but they took 2 months and half just to say they wont aprove my claim , that is traight up robbing . Took them 2 months and half to deny in the meanwhile getting that payment evey month and now no refunds after 30 days , stay away from this company

Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating this must feel, and we're sorry the process took as long as it did. When reviewing a first claim, we need your pet's medical history; retrieving those records from the vet alone can take a week or two, and our team reviews everything thoroughly from there. Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Fresh-squeezed

Lemonade is the best in the business — everything they do — from registration, to the prices, the support, ease of use, service — all wrapped up like a nice, cold glass of refreshing fresh squeeze on a scorching hot summer day. Thank you, Lemonade!

Take the money but dont provide the service

After getting a quote for indurance and proceeding with activating car insurance, this company immediately withdraw the funds from my account but then put my insurance "on hold" asking for a bunch documents before it can be active. Some of the documents are not possible for me to gather any longer. I emailed the support email and although I got a response almost right away they told me I had to find a way to get all documents. I explained I literally CANT and dont have access or the ability to get said paperwork and they told me I needed to find a way and until I do my insurance THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR would continue to be inactive. I was trying to drop my insurance rate down by switching but i have never, in the 25 years ive been driving, had to collect these types and the amount of documentation they are asking for. I always thought insurance had a universal system where they can get all the info they need.... It is poor service to tell a customer to figure out a problem they are facing WHILE keeping their money from them. If they need paperwork, thats fine, just wait to charge the customer until AFTER everything is verified.

We genuinely understand how difficult this must feel especially when certain documents aren't accessible. Please reach out at [email protected] and we'll have someone review your specific circumstances and see what options are available to help move things forward.
