DONT USE THEM!

They were very unqualified to work with special needs and said they were!... The first tutor was crude and argued with me about her going to fast for him to be able to retain the info... VERY hyper- fast paced person! the second one was slow but showed up late more than once... and would leave to use the bathroom on multiple occasions... very unprofessional! IM not sure whos screening them but they need to do a better job! Then they gave me more sessions without telling me my prepaid was over and I didnt know it so they will just keep charging you without pernission! very deceptive

Claire G is absolutely amazing!!!! Helped me learn where my son is struggling and what I’m able to help with ! she explained and introduced us to some programs the school offer to my son to help w his adhd. She’s honestly amazing goes above and beyond to understand your child so she can give them the correct approach to help them start understanding what they’re learning.

BE CAREFUL WITH BILLING!!

The tutoring was fine. But the BILLING ... this is an expensive platform for ONLINE tutoring. I deleted my account via the app but got billed $500 three days later. DELETING THE ACCOUNT IS NOT THE SAME AS CANCELING ... YOU CAN ONLY CANCEL VIA PHONE >> Why?? It's not an intuitive process at all, it felt like I got bamboozled. I'm in the process of attempting to get a refund, but (of course) it takes up to 72 hours for someone to determine whether or not I even qualify for refund... I'm guessing I WON'T and will then have to call back and attempt to talk to a human being that can actually help me. I used OUTSCHOOL tutoring in the past - same quality of tutoring - MUCH easier to navigate, especially with billing.

Great Experiences

We just started with Varsity tutors and I'm so happy we did. My son is genuinely happy to log in and do his work. Aneeb is awesome and made math enjoyable for my son only within a few weeks. I highly recommend Varsity Tutors!

James was HORRIBLE

James was HORRIBLE! He mislead me and my child. My child was not prepared at ALL for the AP test. I was really, really disappointed. My kid may have actually Failed the AP test (meaning less than a 3) and the child was a 98 percentile in the PSAT. After one full school year of tutoring from James. Wow!!! Then, the company charged me for three sessions not used and said you n can keep those for 59 dollars a month. Very, very disappointed. My suggestion: Do NOT use. Find someone who can deliver.

Great program! Highly advise it!

My daughter’s math Tudor last year and this year have been fantastic. Her grades have improved and she is enjoying her class so much more. They have been flexible with our busy schedule and communicate with us frequently. Great program!

I had a really frustrating experience…

I had a really frustrating experience with Variety Tutoring. I was being charged for more hours than my tutor could actually help me with. Instead of fixing that properly, customer service switched me to another tutor without clearly telling me. I didn’t even know I was scheduled for new sessions, so I “missed” classes I wasn’t aware of. Then they charged me for those missed sessions using hours I had already paid for but never actually used… make that make sense. They eventually refunded me, but then told me I’m no longer allowed to have a membership because of it. So I got charged unfairly, refunded, and then basically penalized for their mistake. Overall, really poor communication and billing practices. Definitely not something I’d recommend.

Awful cancelation process

Their tutors are genuinely great but everything else about this company is a nightmare. Customer service is beyond frustrating. I tried to cancel my subscription and got stuck on hold, passed around, and forced to answer irrelevant questions that had nothing to do with my request. Instead of respecting a simple “I want to cancel,” they push, guilt-trip, and talk over you like you can’t make your own decision. It’s not support it’s pressure. They’ll do anything to keep you paying, whether that’s pushing a downgrade or dragging out the process as long as possible. What should be a quick, straightforward cancellation turns into an exhausting conversation you’re basically forced into. I shouldn’t have to argue just to stop being charged. Honestly, the way they handle cancellations and treat customers is exactly why I won’t ever use this service again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless they’re prepared to deal with the same hassle.

The experience so far has been ok

The recent experience has been positive. The recent tutor has been much better and we ate satisfied. Thank you for responding to our concerns.

Beware of subscription billing practices

Scam billing practices. We called them to set up SAT prep classes and scheduled tutoring until the date of the SAT. Come to find out they charge a recurring subscription that continues after your last scheduled session unless you call them to cancel. The tutoring was OK, nothing great. They are refusing to refund the money claiming they are like Netflix. Update, after reaching out to BBB they refunded my money. Would have been nice if they had done the right thing from the start but at least they refunded it. Spoke to AJ from customer service who was very nice and did his best to make up for the bad experience so I am giving another star. It would have been great if this was all fixed on the first call but I am glad they did the right thing.

We have a great tutor

We have a great tutor. My son likes him (Mohamed) a lot. Changing his schedule was easy and very accommodating.
