Private seller here. Auto trader spams you with bots for a few days then low balls you on your car. What a joke. Don’t use Autotrader anymore if you’re a private seller.
I posted an ad for a vehicle, every single response I received was a scam. Not one or two but all of them. Very disappointing as I was using what I thought was a quality service that would screen out the garbage. I was wrong. I put a for sale sign in the car's window and sold it within 2 days.

Shocked we could have an appt at 5 to see/test drive car and drive away with the car and temporary registration printed off the sellers printer and taped to back window within a couple hours. Money transferred, documents signed! Crazy cool way to buy used car!
Horrible experience, riddled with scams probably receive 20 offers almost completed a fake car report, all accounts became deactivated shortly after, I’m not sure there was one single genuine car buyer… was thinking of buying a car to replace the one I sold elsewhere on auto trader but sticking far away from this website

great selling experience complete with checklists. I did everything through the app. The whole process took one week from test drive request to transfer. Very helpful technical support without going through alot of waiting on hold.
The app is easy to use and communication is great. Notification about slow queues would be helpful, specially when your transaction is started over the weekend.
Everything was handled with attention to detail, careful instructions, and appropriate cautions. The scammers cannot be controlled but can be easily identified and avoided by following all the rules and recommendations. Once a legitimate buyer made an offer, every step was completed promptly and easily. Any concerns that we had regarding the process were complely groudless. We will be using autotrader again in the near future.
I reached out to auto trader because I received no response to multiple offers on a car. The owner happened to be out of the country. They immediately contacted him and got the process moving. Auto trader personnel were very responsive whenever I contacted them. They made the process very smooth.
Dont waste your time. 22 contacts in 5 days. 100% SCAMMERs trying to get you to buy some crap vehicle report. Called support. They were amazing. They appologized for the scammers and said it was very normal and after the 1st couple of weeks go by ... the contacts would be real.
