Had a great experience with Dream Drive Auto! The whole process was smooth and easy, and picking up the car was a great experience. The team was friendly, helpful, and made everything straightforward from start to finish. Really happy with the vehicle and the service I received. Thank you so much for taking the time to rate us and provide such amazing feedback!

Watch Out for "Rebuilt" Scammers!

While they are great for sortability and specific searches, a lot of the shady dealers with rebuilt cars are alternate-spacing the word "rebuilt", so that the Car Gurus bots don't flag them as "no rating". This allows the sleaze ball dealer to secure a "good" or "great" deal rating, when the car is rebuilt.

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns and understand how frustrating it can be to encounter listings that you believe may be using misleading information to avoid proper labeling. We take reports of inaccurate or deceptive listings seriously and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your feedback has been documented and will be shared with the appropriate team for review as we continue working to improve the accuracy and transparency of our listings and Deal Ratings.

I tried to sell my car through…

I tried to sell my car through CarGurus. The process was straightforward...so it seemed. I received an offer, via email, from a car dealer close to my home and was subsequently contacted by the used car manager. He said I needed only to bring the car in for a quick inspection and they'd buy the car on the spot. I did as requested. The car is like new, just as I had presented it online. After his inspection, the used car manager admitted it was as advertised and proceeded to offer me $3K less than the original written offer. He said the original offer was a retail price. Typical car dealer bait and switch. Beware when using CarGurus.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it must have been to receive an offer through CarGurus and then be presented with a significantly lower amount after traveling to the dealership for an inspection. While dealers may adjust offers based on additional information about the vehicle or market conditions, we appreciate you sharing this feedback. We’ll take your experience into consideration as we continue working to improve the Sell My Car process and provide greater transparency for our users.

Great Customer Service

My experience with CarGurus from Roseville, California and the staff George was really good, he helped us through out the whole way and he had good communication and understanding of getting my first ever car with a great deal on getting the car. He helped us get it done and I left with a huge smile on my face. The service that he provided and proved to us that he’s a great worker!

Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We're so happy to hear about your experience with one of the dealers that lists on our site.

Does not connect buyers and sellers together

I saw an advert for a calm that I wanted to enquire about but all I could do is have a really inane drawn out chat with a chat bot on WhatsApp. No direct communication with these seller whatsoever even after so-called promises to get them to call me etc. 100% waste of time! At least I know now never to use car guru if I want to sell a car

Reply from CarGurus2026-07-28

Thank you for the feedback. Our chat support is designed to connect you directly to the dealership and we rely on them to follow-up in a timely manner. We're sorry to hear that this particular dealership was unresponsive. Feel free to contact our support team if you'd like to provide any additional details.

Transportation cost was a lie

The Cargurus website listed a transportation cost from the dealer to my location. The dealer does not provide transportation. I called Cargurus and they blamed the dealer. The dealer said the transportation cost was added by Cargurus. Long story short the cost went from "$222" to $375. The site cannot be trusted.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please note that dealerships opt into advertising delivery services on our site and the charges come from radius stipulations that they provide to us. While we work hard to provide helpful tools that support your search, the buying experience itself is managed by the dealership

wasted my time got to end of process…

wasted my time got to end of process and wanted my vin number. like who knows that. they just want your information don't bother

Reply from CarGurus2026-07-24

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We do require your VIN, and we want to be upfront about why: it's entirely in your interest. Your Vehicle Identification Number is the only way we can give you an accurate estimate for your specific vehicle. Two cars with the same make, model, and year can differ significantly in value based on their exact trim, options, and history — things like accident reports, prior fleet use, or title status. Without the VIN, we can only give you a rough range. With it, we can give you a real number tailored to your car. We're asking for your VIN to value your vehicle accurately — not to collect your personal information. We hope this helps clarify things, and we'd love for you to give it another try!

Deceptive practices

Received an offer from Prescott Valley Kia of $8546 through CarGurus.com. When I arrived at the dealer with my 85 year old father they started negotiations at $6100, more than $2k below the "OFFER" I received!??!! They behaved just like a dealership from the 90s. "We'll see what we can do.... Let me talk to my manager.... OK, now I'll take it to the big boss." Finally settled at $7500 only becuase I couldn't put my dad through the effort again. This is shameful behavior. If it is not an offer then don't call it an offer. Be honest and upfront right from the start. Oh, and the clincher, they listed the car for $12,599!

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to learn about your experience and do understand your frustration. While CarGurus strives to generate a fair value estimate at offer generation, dealerships do have the right to modify offers generated on CarGurus based upon further information about a vehicle or changes in the marketplace. KNA Motors

We found this vehicle listed on CarGurus and purchased it from KNA Motors. Unfortunately, our experience after the purchase has been very disappointing. Within the first week of ownership, we noticed an engine ticking noise. After having the truck inspected, we were advised it requires approximately $8,000-$10,000 in repairs to make it roadworthy. We contacted the dealership and attempted to resolve the issue, but they were unwilling to assist, and we are now moving forward with the appropriate next steps. I would encourage buyers to do their own independent inspection before purchasing any used vehicle, even when the vehicle is listed through a reputable marketplace.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're very sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered with the vehicle shortly after your purchase, and we understand how frustrating and disappointing this situation must be. As this is a post-purchase matter, CarGurus is unable to intervene in the sales transaction or require the dealership to provide repairs or a refund. However, we appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention. Your feedback will be documented as part of our ongoing review of dealerships that advertise on our platform.

I used CarGurus to get an estimate for…

I used CarGurus to get an estimate for my daughters’s used car. I entered all of the requested information accurately, including the actual mileage on her vehicle. After submitting the information, I was directed to this dealership Volkswagen of West Islip, NY because they supposedly offered the highest value for my car. When my husband arrived, the dealership inspected her vehicle and confirmed that everything was in good condition. However, they then offered him $6,000 less than the amount I was initially quoted, claiming that the mileage was too high. My disappointment is that the mileage information had already been provided when I completed the online form. If the mileage made my car worth less, why wasn’t that considered before I was asked to spend my time coming to the dealership? The experience felt misleading and frustrating. I understand that estimates can change after an inspection, but there should be transparency from the beginning, especially when all of the vehicle information was provided upfront.

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it must have been to receive an offer that was significantly lower than the estimate, especially after accurately providing your daughter's vehicle information, including the mileage. While CarGurus strives to generate a fair value estimate, dealerships may adjust their offers based on their own inspection, market conditions, or additional factors. We appreciate you sharing your feedback regarding the discrepancy, as transparency is important to us. We'll document your experience and share it with the dealership and our team as we continue working to improve the Sell My Car experience for both buyers and sellers.

Do not believe your offer on purchasing your car.

I got several offers on our late model car thru Car Gurus and naturally I took the best. The dealer even followed up and offered 380 more than original Car Guru offer. The car was a 2022 with 27k on miles. Very good condition. When we got there we found that their offer was completely ignored and they came at us with a 2200 less offer stating that Car Fax didn't show any brakes that were installed recently (not all brakes are recorded and no sign of need on vehicle) and that they said they plugged it in to a computer and it showed a problem. (No lights on and no codes) So I guess you could say they high balled us to get us in and then proceeded to weasel. Jeff Wyler Nissan Colrain Ave Cincinnati Ohio.

Cargurus Misleading Offers

Went on Cargurus and got an offer on my car. I went to the dealer and they ended up offering a price way lower then what I was told. Totally frustrating and completely misleading. Ultimately a waste of time. Don’t even bother going through this site you’d be better off going to the dealer themselves

VERY POOR customer service! Extremely high prices!

Years ago we really liked CarGurus. We're dealers and they were a great place to advertise our cars for sale. We signed up with them 3-4 months ago and this time around, the experience has been terrible. Our rep is difficult to reach, does not seem to have a "sense of urgency" when we need assistance or email for information. Our contract has expired but we sent our cancellation notice to them well in advance. Our lazy rep did not submit our cancellation information in a timely manner and now CarGurus is demanding we pay them for an additional month of service. Ya know.. I wouldn't be canceling had I gotten SERVICE the previous 3 months during my contract! I'm certainly not paying for an additional month; that's on them! Our rep has been difficult to reach yes, but you'll definitely hear from them when they want a payment! Also? My company website functioned perfectly before I signed up with CarGurus, but since we signed up, we have had lots of functionality problems with our website. I have repeatedly tried to get CarGurus to fix the issues; they place blame on the CRM itself and our webhosting company. Interesting how there were NO WEBSITE ISSUES until I allowed CarGurus to connect with my website. Now I've got to figure out how to get my website fully functional again after this horrible experience. I don't recommend CarGurus at all, to anyone!

I don't really write bad reviews but if you are a car dealer looking to advertise with them think twice as they are quick to get you enrolled on a long contract saying they'll give you a free month or 2 but the volume of leads just aren't there are all!! Been stuck on a 6 month contract hoping it ends every day, when I get hit with a massive bill when no cars are selling through them, would not recommend selling through this platform.

Pretty sure this is a scam site

Went to search for what I was prequalified for and every car they listed ended up not qualified for and total waste of my time! They list the price range and when I would click on a car they said it didn't qualify. Why would you do that?

DEATH TRAP CAR!

Went to see a a 2021 Kona hatchback. Spoke to dealer and all they said it was in excellent condition with around 60k miles for 10k. Drive 2 hours to see it and talk about waisting my time. This car was a death trap and the owner knew it! The front tires had 0% tread and the belts were showing. The wipers were broken with the rubber all broken and cracked. After getting there found out it had a salvaged title and was totaled in a accident. The owner wouldn't even agree to replace the 2 front tires. How can car Gurus allow this to happen. This car was going to be a gift for my daughter! Most men would of put this guy in his place. Putting my daughter in danger with a car thats not even street leagel is fully unexceptable! If this is a example of car associated with car gurus, run!
