What people say

The Bot is just not working

Attempted to schedule test drive send emails voice messages texts, and absolutely no response. They bought kept chatting with me asking him about all my information over and over again, but the dealership never got any of this information and the vehicle was of course sold when I got there.

We’re really sorry to hear about this experience — we can understand how frustrating it is to put in the time to schedule a test drive, repeatedly share your information, and then find out the dealership never received it and the vehicle was sold. That’s not how the process should feel. While CarGurus facilitates communication, dealerships ultimately manage their own responsiveness and inventory updates. Your feedback is important, and we’ll be sure to document it so our team can review the dealership’s communication and listing accuracy. We appreciate you taking the time to share this and regret the inconvenience it caused.

Price baiting from dealers

This is a great resource to quickly find vehicles. However most dealers on here do not seem to be fully transparent with pricing. Lots of prices listed seem to be a way of baiting customers to reach out. Once you do make contact, the price isn’t what’s posted. They claim “mandatory dealer ad ons” that “can’t be removed” when actually quoting real price. Super frustrating when you have a loan in hand with a specific budget and payment in mind.

Giving 3 stars because haven’t recieved…

Giving 3 stars because haven’t recieved a response yet. Emailed through this site as well as directly with the dealer. Dealer has good reviews so not sure what is going on. Tried the text option thought it would go directly to the dealer instead it was a “chat” with cargrus and they sent info to the dealer 🤷‍♀️ found the car in the 8th and requested information it’s now the 13th and I’ve heard nothing. I get responses that they have received the i formation and will contact me Shortly. It’s been days. Looking for used cars is stressfuand overwhelming enough. Contact with live person would be great.

The logic/journey used on sms needs…

The logic/journey used on sms needs improvement. Since I’ve contacted several dealers about different 4Runners, I think the auto text message should include the link to the car, not just the ID number. And then it later asks if my issue has been resolved (1 for yes, 2 for no), and if you hit 2, it’ll cycle back to something else even more confusing. Your best bet is to call the dealership directly.
