Reviewers had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently praise the digital platform for its incredible flexibility, straightforward onboarding process, and extremely convenient virtual communication options that make starting therapy accessible. Many people appreciate the professional and deeply caring approach of their assigned therapists, noting how supportive and helpful the weekly sessions truly are. However, some people mentioned significant issues regarding high pricing structures and being continuously charged full fees even for unused therapy sessions. A few other consumers also felt that customer support was completely unhelpful and unresponsive when urgent billing concerns or scheduling problems arose.

Surprisingly helpful. I always thought it was too expensive to try therapy but my therapist has really changed my perspective. Really has opened my mind. My therapist makes me feel understood and is exactly what I need in my busy life.
First therapist cancelled the appointment as I was waiting for her to join. Then I had to complete the emotionally gruelling questionaire again, then I matched with a therapist who told me, as a PTSD sufferer, that only autistic people are frightened of loud noises? She proceeded to say she is a "betterhelp high earner" but that I should pay more and travel a 46 mile round trip to see her in-person and off the app. She said I couldnt keep talking to her unless I paid to go to her clinic. I found it all quite devastating, and now I'm entirely convinced this app just puts the vulnerable at risk of exploitation, they dont do enough checks before farming out the ill to cowboys. I believe my therapist that she is a "qualified psychologist with a specialism in neurodivergent children", since she has the clinic she wanted me to go to, but she was out of her depth and irresponsible to be touting her services to me, a financially restricted adult with a severe, diagnosed mental health condition.
We're truly sorry to hear about this experience -- the therapist's behavior that you've described goes against the provider agreement, and we want to be sure this is properly investigated. Our Member Success team can also try and work with you to turn the experience around. I've requested the email address linked to your account so that a manager from our team can follow up directly.
I would recommend better help to anyone that just wants to regulate themselves even if there isn’t anything specific that is triggering you, Better help allows you to personalize your experience through allowing you the choice of who walks with you on your mental health journey!
You’re likely to meet your match with a therapist whether times are good or bad for you! I never thought speaking with anyone would help me with what’s inside of me. But in actuality is our job to make ourselves feel and become the best we can be. And you will find the tools to do so here. Thank you Better Help, I will be back when I’m up or down in life!
I chose BetterHelp after my mom passed away and not one, not two, but all three therapists I tried actually failed to show up for scheduled appointments. The third one started strong, but ended up bailing on our 4th session and then gaslit me and the platform, saying that I didn’t show up, and charging me a no-show fee. It was so traumatic, especially on the heels of losing my mom and navigating grief. It took me a year from that experience to feel brave enough to try therapy again. This time I’m with a private practice and it’s going so much better. I will never use a platform like this again, and will never recommend it either. Better Help might be worse than no help in my experience.
Hi Sarah, We can certainly understand your dissatisfaction with this experience. No shows are not the 'norm' and we know how disheartening and frustrating this can be. We have a team of Clinical Operations team that reviews cases like this to ensure accountability and clinical quality -- we'd like to be sure these cases were all reviewed thoroughly. I've requested the email address associated with your BetterHelp account so we can look into this further. We're so happy to hear you've found a resource that has provided you the support you've needed and we'll do everything we can to continue improving the quality of our services.
My therapist, after three visits, literally said, I'm retiring immediately, go select another therapist. They also didn't seem to see my religious trauma. Won't use them again.
We appreciate you sharing this with us, Nomad, and we're sorry to hear about the experience you've described, which is not common or what we would expect from a therapist providing services on our platform. We would appreciate the chance to look into this further, and try to make this right for you. I've requested the email address linked to your account so that a manager can reach out to you directly.
I have been helped by two therapists and both have been great. I feel very comfortable talking about the hard stuff. I like a more direct therapist that cuts the BS and I’ve liked both that I’ve had. You can choose several options for what style you prefer to fit your personality and needs. No regrets from me and would recommend BetterHelp to anyone seeking help. God bless.
Hi Crystal, We would love to hear more about your experience and see what we can do to improve it! I've requested the email address linked to any BetterHelp account you may have so that we can have a manager follow up with you, as needed.
Easy to use, matched me with a therapist that meets my needs
I get great value for the therapy cost. When I ‘ve contacted BetterHelp they have helped me both times to revolve my concerns in a very satisfactory manner. They are responsive and helpful to make sure I receive the sessions I invest it.
Grateful to learn that BetterHelp provided viable options to the traditional face-to-face therapy sessions….
Better health was very easy to initiate and convenient to use. My therapist has been very accommodating and comfortable to speak with. It has helped guide me through very difficult times I'm going through in my life.
So glad I saw the tv commercials about BetterHelp! Have all great things to say about my Therapist Jamie, the app and company! My therapist is fantastic he truly cares, he listens he’s knowledgeable and gives me suggestions on what I could do to help matters. He’s a great person and was matched perfectly with him by BetterHelp! The BetterHelp App is great and very easy to use and to schedule your appointments with! Don’t hesitate to try therapy with them! I’m so glad I did! Thank you Jamie and thank you BetterHelp!
They should be ashamed of themselves praying on the vulnerable. I signed up but because of holiday mine and the therapist I could not fit all the sessions in a month, charged again this week still can’t fit them in. This is ridiculous so I thought pause or actually cancel my membership because I am effectively paying triple rate for counselling. They say you can cancel anytime but what they fail to mention is if you do your ability to see your counsellor is stopped immediately ( regardless if you are in credit or not) what a bunch of crooks. Once again live and learn so out of pocket and in desperate need of help.
Hi Nicholas, We understand there may have been some frustration and confusion with the billing agreement. Each payment allow you access to the entire suite of membership features for a set period of time (either one week or four weeks). A weekly live session is available to you to use, as well as the ability to enroll in several Classes, Group Sessions, and other wellness tools. If your therapist's availability doesn't work with your schedule, our Member Success team can help to provide a membership extension to help allow you to book a makeup session. In any case, we want to be sure we can help you get this resolved if you haven't already been in contact with our team. I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account so that we can follow up with you directly!
Their subscription model is a trap. You get charged £260 a month regardless of whether you're using the sessions. You can't pay per session - you have to lock yourself in. Same capitalist exploitation that got us all into this terrible mental state in the first place
We appreciate your feedback regarding the membership billing structure, and apologize for any concern. While your payments provide you access to a suite of services on the platform, we understand that live sessions with the assigned therapist are often a key piece. Our Member Success team can provide billing extensions to help provide time to have make-up sessions, upon request. In case you have not yet been able to get this sorted out with our team, I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account so we can reach out to you directly.
Process of getting the right therapist Quality of therapy More "affordable" than in person therapy In-app tools (journalling, option to share with therapist, session scheduling etc.)
Very insightful, patient, kind, caring, and accessible. Thank you very much Better Help.
I went into Bettethelp.com looking st their services. Background on me, I taught marketing as major private university, as well as general psychology and business / speech communication. While surely Betterhelp.com has some great shrinks, I'm concerned that especially their Meta ties are problematic. In case anyone wants to further examine Betterhelp's overly extensive sharing of client/patient personal information, you will need to take an extended amount of time to read all of their terms and conditions, etc. Comprehensively fielding Betterhelp's unusually extensive process (again, Ts and Cs, and more) and trying, likely in vain, to preclude the overly extensive dissemination of our data to third-parties is not at all what most patient's deem appropriate. The worst of these social media (not the least of which leads Meta, case in point), advertisers, ad nauseam, have intentions / actions that do not well serve patients much to most of the time.

No experience with ADHD I had to find out on my own. Each session led to a single conversation with the Ex only and last few minutes were what I could correct. She never had a fault. When she found a therapist for herself they only talked about the bible. Therapist do not appear to pick up on Narcissism.
Hi Jory, We understand that you were disappointed with the therapist you were working with. It sounds like this may have been couples counseling (perhaps through Regain). In any case, we want to be sure that we can have our Clinical Operations team look into your concerns further so we can ensure proper accountability as needed. I've requested the email address linked to the account you have with us so that we can follow up with you directly and try to assist further!
