Services Not Provided as Described – Unsafe Hotel Conditions

During my stay, severe structural roof and ceiling leaks occurred throughout the property, including active water intrusion into guest rooms. Hallways and common areas were lined with industrial trash cans collecting rainwater, many of which overflowed onto the floors. The excessive moisture resulted in visible mold and mildew throughout the room, creating an unhealthy environment for my family. Hotel staff acknowledged the issue, stating, “This happens when it rains,” indicating that this was a known, ongoing problem rather than an isolated incident. I immediately contacted Expedia to report that the property was unsafe and requested assistance. Despite explaining the serious health and safety concerns, Expedia did not provide a meaningful resolution, offer comparable accommodations, or relocate my family to another property with the promised Atlantis access. I also spoke with an Expedia Customer Relations representative named Kartik, who was extremely unhelpful. Despite my repeated requests, he refused to escalate my concerns or provide any meaningful assistance regarding the unsafe conditions. As a result, my family was left with no reasonable alternative and was forced to remain in accommodations that were not safe or habitable. In addition to the hotel conditions, our vacation was significantly impacted by multiple airline delays that disrupted both our departure and return travel. These delays resulted in extended travel times, additional expenses, and unnecessary stress. The accommodations Expedia sold were not fit for occupancy and did not match what was represented at the time of booking.

BE AWARE

BE AWARE! When using the "Buy now pay later" feature the hotel still places a hold on your card. It's not outlined in the agreement it's hidden within the Expedia terms of use. Just poor business practices. I'm not even using the account charged hence why I choose this option so now that account is overdrafted as money isn't deposited until 72hours prior to teip. Expedia refused to do anything.

They have been useless whenever I need support to liaise for any issue with my booking. I reached out twice for a case that has been on the fault of a hotel and they said they have “escalated” the concern and would get back to me but I still have not heard a single thing. Their staff also replied in an odd way/sounds like AI to me!? Will never book on their website again.

I am very unhappy with Expedia

I am very unhappy with Expedia. I've used them for years with no problems, but this time I had to cancel a business class flight to Europe--$4248. I was told when I cancelled that I would have a credit. When I tried to rebook using my credit, it took hours and finally I was informed that for an additional $3000 plus, (on top of my $4248 credit) I could rebook a flight to Europe. This is crazy. I don't know how to go about making this right. I will certainly never use Expedia again.

I strongly advise staying away from Expedia. My recent experiences with both their customer service and website have been terrible. I have been going back and forth with them for days, and nothing has been resolved. The customer service team has been incompetent and has wasted my time. I highly recommend booking with a different platform instead.

Booked through Expedia, Denied Refund Despite Medical Emergency

I booked Turkish Airlines tickets through Expedia for travel on July 17, 2026. Days before departure, I suffered a severe fall, was hospitalized twice, and my cardiologist advised I was unfit to fly due to heart attack risk. I provided all medical records to Expedia immediately. They advised me to cancel to avoid a "no-show," then refused to issue a refund or voucher—passing responsibility to Turkish Airlines, who also denied my claim. To make it worse, because Expedia canceled my ticket, Turkish Airlines' system no longer recognizes it, so I cannot even appeal directly. I paid [amount] for a service I cannot use due to a documented medical emergency. Expedia took my money, canceled my ticket, and left me with nothing. Absolutely unacceptable. Beware—they do not stand by their customers in emergencies.

It took 5 days to not doing anything to help, if they were a bit more interested they would have managed to talk to the property to quickly solve my issue that was to change dates, and we could have changed the dates as the property told me via WhatsApp, they offered this possibility. So Expedia didn’t manage to fix such a minor problem and I spent double the money because I had to book another place, and will never use or recommend the slow and inefficient Expedia, the worst and most difficult to do business with.

Expedia and the awful experience

I booked a hotel through Expedia about one month before my trip. A few days later, I checked the Expedia app to review my reservation, but it wasn’t there. I also never received a confirmation email, so I genuinely believed the booking had not been confirmed. Since my trip was getting closer, I couldn’t risk arriving without accommodation, so I made a new reservation through Booking.com. That reservation was confirmed immediately, and I planned my entire trip, including my flights, around it. Only later did I discover that Expedia had already charged my credit card for the original booking, even though the reservation never appeared in my Expedia account. I suddenly found myself with two non-refundable bookings for the same hotel. I contacted Expedia immediately, expecting them to take responsibility for what had happened. Instead, I spent weeks speaking with different agents, explaining the same situation over and over again, only to be told to wait while they contacted the hotel. Nothing meaningful happened. The difference in customer service was unbelievable. Even though both reservations were non-refundable, Booking.com told me they were willing to waive their commission and cancel my reservation if it would help solve the situation. They were not responsible for the problem, yet they still tried to help. Expedia, however, left me completely dependent on the hotel. I had to make international phone calls to the hotel myself and explain everything: that Expedia’s booking never appeared in my account, that I believed it had failed, that I had made another confirmed reservation through a different platform, and that I had already arranged my flights and my entire trip based on that confirmed booking. I personally asked the hotel for help. After several calls and emails, I was the one who convinced the hotel to approve a 50% refund. Expedia did not negotiate that agreement. I did. What frustrated me even more was that Expedia later claimed they had obtained the hotel’s approval, even though I was the person who spent the time, made the international calls, and reached the agreement directly with the hotel. The hotel agreed to refund 50% of a booking worth around €630. However, after deductions, I received only €183. At that point, Expedia simply left me to deal with the hotel by myself. They did not make sure I received the agreed refund, they did not recover the missing amount, and they did not take responsibility for a problem that started with a booking that never even appeared in their own app. This experience cost me hundreds of euros, countless hours, expensive international calls, and an unbelievable amount of stress before and after my holiday. I used Expedia because I expected a travel company to protect its customers when something goes wrong. Instead, I had to solve everything myself while Expedia stood on the sidelines. This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and after everything I went through, I cannot recommend Expedia to anyone. Even on the Trustpilot page, they keep repeating the same generic response without actually addressing the issue.

I booked a 7 day stay for Seahorse Inn…

I booked a 7 day stay for Seahorse Inn and Cottages through Expedia in January, 2026. We had until 2 weeks before the date of checkin to change our reservation. In May, we changed the reservation from 7/5 arrival to 7/9 arrival through expedia. We also paid an extra $70 for vacation protection. Expedia cancelled the original reservation as shown through their app, but never changed the reservation with the hotel. I have been charged the full 7 day charge of $1290.23 through the hotel. I contacted Expedia, and they state that the hotel is denying to change the charge as we did not adhere to their cancellation policy (which we did, through Expedia, although Expedia will not acknowledge this). I will NEVER use Expedia again, and I encourage everyone else to avoid this booking site

Don’t use this service

When booking online the ticket I purchased was reduced to an economy ticket instead of a freedom ticket. I explained the error to your online agent and they would not upgrade my ticket without charging me extra fee! I cancelled my ticket and just booked through porter myself. I got the freedom ticket I wanted in the first place and the cost was the same price as what you charged me for economy! Your wait time to be reimbursed is ridiculous. Not only are you a rip off in price your service sucks!

Warning: paid seat selection through Expedia does NOT guarantee you’ll sit together.

Warning: paid seat selection through Expedia does NOT guarantee you’ll sit together. I paid an extra $222 through Expedia specifically so my husband and I could select seats together on our round-trip flight to Edinburgh. What’s not clearly disclosed anywhere in the purchase flow: this only lets you pick from seats that are already free — it does not guarantee two seats together will actually be available. The charge also didn’t appear as an itemized line item on my receipt, so I couldn’t even point to documentation of what I’d paid for. On our return flight, no two free seats were left together. The only way to sit next to my husband was to pay ANOTHER $90 — for the exact same thing I thought I’d already paid for. I called Expedia and asked for a refund or adjustment. They refused. I called the airline, who said the fee was collected by Expedia, not them, and sent me back to Expedia. Expedia then told me the original charge only covered free seats, no guarantee of togetherness — leaving me stuck between two companies with no resolution. If you’re paying extra for seat selection through Expedia, know exactly what you’re buying: it’s not a guarantee, and if seats run out, you may be asked to pay again for something you thought you’d already covered.

Having been an Expedia customer let me…

Having been an Expedia customer let me say that their customer service has spiralled downtly to no help at all. It is BY FAR better to book directly with the hotel as they will delay responses telling you they are "working diligently" with a specific hotel, while the hotel will tell you they have not submitted a request at all. In the beginning they would actually negotiate to help you but they now are OUTSOURCING. BOOK DIRECTLY!!

Never trust Expedia

Never trust Expedia. I had the option to add trip protection until 11:59 PM, but after I called to cancel my booking, that option mysteriously disappeared. It feels like the protection was removed because they knew I was trying to cancel. Their customer service was unhelpful and not trustworthy. This experience has completely changed my opinion of Expedia, and I won’t be booking with them again.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Expedia. We booked and paid for a hotel through Expedia and received a confirmed reservation. We drove approximately 800 miles from home, only to arrive and find out that the hotel had not received—or would not honor—our reservation. We were left stranded late at night with no room for the night. The most frustrating part is that Expedia has not provided an immediate solution. They will not arrange and pay for another comparable hotel, even though we booked and paid for a confirmed reservation through their platform. Instead, we are being told that we may have to wait up to 72 hours just to find out whether our money will even be refunded. We should not be expected to pay twice for a hotel because of a failure between Expedia and the hotel. We are now hundreds of miles from home, late at night, without the room we paid for and with no immediate resolution. This is completely unacceptable customer service. A confirmed reservation should mean that the customer actually has a room when they arrive. Expedia needs to take responsibility for problems involving reservations made through its platform instead of leaving customers stranded and forcing them to pay out of pocket for another hotel.

I rented a car from Expedia on 27 June 26, to be picked-up from Atlanta airport, found the car company named "routes" tobe 5 miles away. When reached, there was no car available, waited for 3 hours, then they asked me my boarding pass, also told they have out of state charge 35 bucks a day. Tried to cancel, Expedia said, it's after scheduled pick-up time, so no cancellation or refund.

I am very disappointed with how my reservation has been handled. My booking has been passed back and forth between Expedia and RIU, with neither taking responsibility for resolving my airport transfer issue. I have spent a significant amount of time sending emails and trying to get a clear answer, but I continue to receive conflicting information instead of a solution. As a customer, I should not have to chase multiple departments for assistance. I hope Expedia reviews this matter and works directly with RIU to resolve it. Better communication and customer support are needed. I’m in Canada so your reply to contact help center.com does not work in Canada. Yet another issue. This company are frauds

This company are frauds, they inaccurately over reported my VRBO income, resulting in a discrepancy with the tax authorities who now accuse me of under declaring my income! Over two plus months and a SAR, they refuse to provide the logic behind the data they reported to the tax authorities. Reporting a seemingly random number and refusing to explain the make-up logic amounts to fraud in my opinion. They have put me in a position to try and prove to the tax authorities that I did not under declare my income without a shred of supporting evidence! This stinks whichever way you look at it.

Unfortunately there is no 0 or Minus 10… - Flight ticket

Unfortunately there is no 0 or Minus 10 rating available. I have booked a flight with them and it took me days to find out through the chat which airline they have booked me on. Email going back and forward with the Service Centre, they will not be able to confirm the airline, they confirmed the ticket no but which Airline. They were selling the flight through another intermediary, and this company is the carrier in their opinion. I have never ever experienced so much stupidity ever. Please everybody don't use Expedia. I usually book directly with the airlines and hotels etc.

Refund refusal

I booked a round trip flight for a fun getaway with friends, my return flight was booked through Expedia with Southwest Airlines. My friends had gotten a later return flight and asked my to change my initial return time. I attempted to change the flight on Expedia which said the flight was available, however when I went to book it it gave a message “ something went wrong, contact Expedia “. When I called I was told the flight was full even though the app said it was available. However, o went directly through Southwest and was able to book the flight for the return time I was seeking, Southwest said there were plenty of seats available and did not know why Expedia would say otherwise. I canceled the return flight through Expedia only for it to get more complicated. Expedia said the “credit” would be through Southwest- Southwest said Expedia had my money. Expedia REFUSED to refund my money and said the credit could be used through Southwest. I tried to use the credit on Southwest only to find out Southwest says they can not find a credit for me. So I’m out over $200 thanks to Expedia. Expedia is not a reliable company anymore and lies and makes excuses at every turn. I will have to rethink about using Expedia again. I might as well go directly through the airline which is more reliable. Expedia response- Expedia asked that I use the help link Expedia provided in their response: (according to Trustpilot I’m not allowed to paste the link here) . Unfortunately it’s just another non human chat prompt that takes you in circles with no heal help or resolution. A waste of time !! And they still have my money !! I will no longer use Expedia for anything !!!
