Expedia/Green Motion Car Rental– Fort Lauderdale, FL Worst Car Rental Experience Ever – Paid in Full but Left Stranded! ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 Star)
This was by far the worst car rental experience my family has ever had.
We reserved and paid in full for our rental car through Expedia using our American Express credit card for a family trip to Fort Lauderdale. When we arrived at Green Motion Car Rental, we presented our driver's license and the same American Express card that had been used to pay for the reservation.
To our surprise, the representative told us that Green Motion does not accept American Express and demanded another credit card. I explained that I only travel with one credit card and my bank debit card. My husband offered to use his credit card, but they refused because the card had to be in the driver's name. My husband is unable to drive due to recent eye surgery, so I was the only driver. We even offered to pay cash, and they refused that as well.
What made the situation even worse was that Green Motion had already accepted our payment through Expedia, yet they refused to honor the reservation because of their own payment policy. If American Express is not accepted at pickup, why was our reservation allowed to be booked and paid for using that card in the first place? At a minimum, Green Motion or Expedia should have notified us before we arrived so we could have made other arrangements.
To make matters worse, another customer ahead of us experienced the exact same issue, proving this is not an isolated incident.
The staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no empathy for the inconvenience they caused. Instead of trying to help us find a solution, they told us they were closing early and essentially forced us to leave without a vehicle, leaving my family stranded at the start of our vacation.
I hold both Green Motion and Expedia responsible. Expedia should not allow customers to reserve and prepay with a payment method that the rental location refuses to accept. Green Motion should clearly disclose its payment requirements before customers arrive—not after taking their money.
This experience caused unnecessary stress, wasted valuable vacation time, and left a terrible first impression of our trip. My family was left scrambling to find alternate transportation after believing everything had already been paid for and confirmed.
I would never rent from Green Motion again and will think twice before booking another rental through Expedia. If you value your vacation, your time, and your money, I strongly recommend choosing another rental company.

Very bad communication. I applied for a credit card through them and was supposed to get 100 credit. The card did not come in time for my booking and I had to use a different card and got charged full price, not the discount price I was quoted. Keep away from this scam site! Then they reply and want you to contact customer service!! They did not help me in the least

I had the most amazing experience with one of your employees,Jayden. He was the manager at Farmington Hills,Mi. He was so kind and patient with me. I wanted to get a paper trail for a cancellation and he was very helpful and even had me stay on the phone to make sure I got the email. We need more people like him. Thanks Jayden.

Booked a hotel through Expedia (Prestige Agadir Hotel, now being referred to as Hôtel Khalij Agadir (72073480481510))
And it was a nightmare from the moment we got there. Hotel definitely not a 5* and we raised complaints about the room every single day and nothing really got resolved. Even spoke to two managers who promised to resolve, but failed to do anything (even as low as providing a disposable shaving kit took 5 days!!!!!)
Raised this with Expedia who seem to be just as bad with their customer service.
Avoid Expedia with a barge pole, if anything goes wrong they are not there to support you!!
Update- they want me to contact them through the help centre!!!, they having a laugh, I’ve given the details and they can’t even be bothered to reach out to me directly … speaks volumes!!

i am a very frequent expedia user and it is usually always great (with a few small hiccups here & there).. but last week continuing into this week ive had my first big issue with them that just does not make sense. i had a hotel booked for one night and the evening before it i had been admitted to the hospital and ended up passing a kidney stone on the day of check-in.. so i called the hotel directly first while i was still in the hospital and they did a free cancellation on their end, and said they would give me a full refund but that id have to contact expedia to initiate it. she said she would be waiting for their call and so i did right away but the expedia agent must have a different phone number or something because she said after trying multiple times she couldn’t get ahold of anyone, so she submitted the waiver form on my behalf. that was denied two days later so i tried again.. i got the exact same person from the hotel on the line and she remembered talking to me but said no one ever called her and wasn’t sure what expedia was doing. so i got her information and contacted expedia again right away but that agent then would not take the hotels phone number or the name of the person i talked to.. she said she tried contacting the hotel and after multiple attempts got nothing, but that does not make sense because i had gotten the same person twice right away.. so then that agent initiated another waiver and that required me to upload proof of my hospital medical emergency, which is a hippa violation but i did it anyways. i sent everything i had and was just waiting.. now almost a whole week since being admitted to the hospital, i get this reply:
After multiple attempts to contact the property on your behalf, we were unable to obtain approval for a waiver. Based on this, the original (cancellation) policy will apply.
..so the same old thing over & over. how come i was able to reach the same person right away on the hotels direct line, but they aren’t and wouldn’t let me give them the info? so im very very upset and disappointed because i literally could not make my stay and they seem to be messing around. after four attempts overall on my end i am exhausted dealing with this and feel like theres nothing else i can do. the hotel says the can’t do the refund on their own & said they were never contacted on any platform by expedia this whole time..

Absolutely Disgraceful – Expedia Has Failed Its Customers
If I could give zero stars, I would.
Our stay at the Mount Lavinia hotel in Sri Lanka was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had, but what has shocked us even more is Expedia’s complete failure to put things right.
The hotel was advertised as a 4–5 star property with a gym and spa. We discovered these facilities had been closed for years, yet Expedia is still using them to sell the hotel. When we asked the hotel staff about them, they laughed, which says everything about how long this has apparently been known.
Our room was unacceptable. The bed sheets were ripped, there was no hot water, and the overall condition was nowhere near the standard that Expedia advertised.
We complained immediately. More than eight days later, Expedia continues to give us the same scripted response: “We’re waiting to hear back from the hotel.”
That simply isn’t good enough.
We booked with Expedia, not directly with the hotel. Expedia took our money, advertised the property and its facilities, and now seems content to leave its customers in limbo while hiding behind the hotel instead of taking responsibility.
This experience has left us feeling completely misled. If facilities have been closed for years, why is Expedia still advertising them? How many other travellers have booked believing they were getting amenities that don’t even exist?
The lack of urgency and accountability is astonishing. Every day that passes without a resolution sends the message that customer satisfaction means very little once payment has been taken.
Unless this matter is resolved immediately, I will be escalating my complaint through every available consumer protection channel and will continue sharing my experience publicly so that other travellers know exactly what they can expect.
Expedia has lost our trust completely. We will never book through Expedia again, and I strongly encourage anyone considering using them to think very carefully before doing so.
Another automated response no one answers

I want to change my rating from one star to three. I was having a hard time trying to cancel and I really didn't want to cancell my trip. I bought the trip protection so that if I had to cancel I would get my refund. Turns out I didn't cancel and right now I am relieved. But if there was one thing I could say to improve uou service is to have actual people answer your phones as well not leave people on hold in or in the que for over 45 mins to an hour ....especially when they call early business hours. I formally apologize for my harsh previous rating of your service. I am going to give you all another shot because I felt I was harsh. I am Reserve my overall opinion after my trip. I hope to continue using your service and hope excuse my business. I myself was in Customer Service for a very long time so I am a bit of a customer service snob with no kind of tolerence run around, being hustled or treated like a Mark. With that I hope excuse me, and I bid you good day.

BE AWARE! Expedia adds 41% fee to the $ of a hotel booking
BE AWARE! Expedia charged me a 41% fee (over the hotel rate) for a simple hotel reservation in June 2026. I thought this huge overcharge was an error. When contacted, Expedia stated that is their "policy" to charge customers as much as they can get. . My BBB complaint was met by Expedia with the same "our price" reply. I will NEVER again use Expedia.

Do not use Expedia!!!! I want people to be aware I booked my vacation I paid it in full I even paid the insurance it's a scam. The insurance is only for medical but they make it appear that they will reimburse you if anything occurs. I was going to be traveling with my elderly parents to stay in North Carolina at the beach there's a flood warning my dad is 78 my mom is 75 I cannot travel with them with those conditions or put them in a unsafe position at their age and any age
I called the day prior because that night is when the storms started and when the warnings came up. I feel that it's very unfair that they want to keep 50% when we have to work so hard to even take a staycation nowadays. To top it off the hotel did not have an elevator I called and they were trying to work it out to give me to the second or 1st and even if that I was okay with that although my mom is handicapped we were going to see what we could do try to make it happen. But unfortunately they're making me pay now for something although I am disputing it that I was not even able to take. Also when you call they do not know the policies of the own insurance that they provide shame on them. Do not use this company and majorly regret it.

Absolutely terrible experience with Expedia.
My return flight to Rio de Janeiro was changed by the airline, and Expedia informed me that I had to contact them immediately to discuss my options. What followed was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever had.
I spent countless hours trying to get help, struggled to reach an agent from France, and received conflicting information from different representatives. After waiting and worrying about whether I would be able to return home on time, I was eventually told that I would need to pay an additional BRL 3,843.70 (including a USD 300 fee) just to have my ticket reissued.
At every stage, I felt like I was being passed from one person to another with no ownership of the issue. Expedia's communication was poor, the process lacked transparency, and there was little empathy for the stress this situation caused my family and me.
When you book through a travel agency, you expect them to advocate for you when airlines make changes. Instead, Expedia made an already difficult situation significantly worse.
I will never use Expedia again and would strongly advise others to book directly with the airline whenever possible to avoid the nightmare of dealing with Expedia's customer support. This version is factual and avoids making claims that would be difficult to substantiate, which makes it more suitable for posting publicly on review platforms.

I am extremely disappointed with Expedia’s customer service.
After our flight was canceled, Delta told us they couldn’t help because we booked through Expedia. I called Expedia expecting them to assist us, but after more than 20 minutes on the phone, they simply repeated exactly what Delta had already said—that the cancellation was weather-related and we were responsible for all additional expenses.
My family was stranded at the airport for two extra nights without money for food or accommodations, and Expedia made no effort to help us find alternatives or offer any support. I understand they can’t control the weather, but they can control how they treat their customers.
When we needed Expedia the most, they did nothing. Very disappointing.

Worst rebooking experience ever in 30 years. Yep, scam site showed a low price and added another 400 at check out.
I tried to change the return date at least 20 times and it was just a loop. I get to checkout and they say verify with sms
Do that, and it says, "something went wrong.
Finally got a real person but still couldn't do it.
Went to the airline and fnally got it done. First and last time I use Expedia. Somebody should start a class action suit against those scamming tactics they use. I hope they go bankrupt.
Edit: my response to the generic Expedia reply.
Why would I waste one iota of my time reliving such a horrible and deceitful experience? Offer an honest apology and full refund, otherwise don't bother responding. An anonymous AI placation is just another slap in the face.

Update: after posting this, they responded and asked me to call them back. I still had to hunt down the customer service number and sit on hold for a representative. After 40 minutes of waiting and talking with a supervisor, they credited my account with One Key cash that can be applied towards future travel through Expedia/VRBO.
We will NEVER use Expedia again! They charged me $450 for a car rental and the rental company refused to let my husband use the car I reserved through Expedia. I called Expedia and they told me that they would request a refund and my husband could go ahead and set up a new rental with the car company. Two days later, Expedia sent an email claiming that the rental car company didn’t acknowledge their request for a refund and the case was closed. Our family travels frequently and we will never use this company or the companies they own again! Buyer beware!!!

I flew yesterday 21 July 2026 from Brussels to Ljubljana on the 16:10 flight. I had booked with Expedia and paid for a carry on bag. For some reason it wasn’t captured within the airline’s system so they made me pay 70 euros at the gate and did not allow for me to take my carry on bag in the cabin. The airline insisted I contact the agency because the fault was with them. When I contacted Expedia yesterday via the virtual chat with the receipt for my 70 euros payment and confirmation email to say my original booking included a carry on bag, they did not accept responsibility for the error and insisted I return to the airline. This is deeply unethical - neither party are willing to reimburse me despite that I have paid for a carry on bag twice and it was no fault of my own that it for some reason was not linked to my ticket. Appalling! Itinerary number 73469869052074.
Follow-up, 6 August 2026: I contacted Expedia as advised below. They can see that I have a carry-on bag up to 8kg included in my booking. They asked me to contact Lufthansa - which I did - and Lufthansa said a carry on bag is not included in their system so raising a complaint will not result in reimbursement. The agency or airline are not willing to accept fault. Very frustrating and unfair.

Uses an out of country service to do their work. One of my purchases showed the price in Phillipine dollars. Ripped me off a total of $500. This is why I insist on using American companies. We have rules and regulations. Impossible to deal with.

We were scheduled for a hotel on Friday/Saturday on Thursday the area all over hill country flooded the county was in emergency so I called hotel 2 times to cancel they said it had to be thru Expedia. I called Expedia that morning and they told me no need to call back they would handle it. I called them back at 5 pm as I heard nothing and they said they could not get ahold of company. Funny I could. They told me again not to call back. They drug it out until Monday night and said no refund. We are senior citizens and husband has issues. We could not be expected to drive thru 5 counties of flooding. Ridiculous. They are unreputable company

EXPEDIA DOUBLE BOOKED MY PLANE TICKETS AND EMPTIED MY BANK ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!! and nobody knew how to give me the refund, my bank intervened but the money HAS NOT BEEN REFUNDED and I was left with NOTHING IN MY ACCOUNT.
I am going to sue them through Profeco in Mexico, already talked to my lawyer and we are taking the necessary steps.
NEVER EVER BUY FROM EXPEDIA THEY ARE THIEVES AND A SCAM, it's easier to buy directly from the airline and hotel, because Expedia doesn't even RESPECT THE PRICES THEY OFFER.
I had used them a few years ago with zero problems, but they became SCAMMERS.

Do NOT use this website to book your airline tickets EVER!! They sell your airline tickets to other airlines without letting you know . Then you cannot change destinations or dates ! I booked an American ailines flight with American Airlines confirmed flight and itinerary only to find out they sold it to British airways and then I couldn’t make any changes because British airways did not allow it! They are a scam company and should not be allowed to operate .
