What reviewers say
AI generated
Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. A general feeling amongst customers points to substandard customer service and significant issues with delivery logistics. Many consumers recounted difficulties with interactions, such as extended hold times, being hung up on, or receiving disrespectful treatment from staff and management.
Conversely, a small portion of people felt that certain employees provided exceptional assistance and knowledge, going above and beyond for the shopper's needs. Some reviewers experienced timely and efficient deliveries, or found store associates genuinely helpful with product guidance. Conversely, other individuals pointed out problems like receiving damaged appliances, instances where delivery drivers left items inappropriately, or receiving inaccurate items after ordering online.

Unbelievable...the item was so damaged in shipping that its useless. I chat them for 20 min and they are going to refund my money and arrange a pickup. Days later...neither have happened. I start another chat to get an update and they have no idea what I'm talking about. AVOID.
Terrible quality of patio doors. I had Home Depot build and install 3 French Patio doors. What a mistake. Horrible quality and installation took months.Go elsewhere for Doors!
Sold me a defective Dryer, broke with minor usage shortly after warranty ended, their automated customer service system just wastes my time asking me the same questions over and over again. Corporations HATE us and if you don't believe me, read Home Depot reviews here (or on Google where they lie about the average review and claim it's 4.6 stars, hilarious, open the reviews and you'll see it's flooded with 1-star horror stories)
Customer Service Complaint – Redding Store – August 14, 2026
Today, August 14, 2026, I made a return at your Redding, California store. I have shopped with your company before and have always been pleasantly surprised by the customer service I’ve received. Unfortunately, today’s experience was very different.
I had an interaction with the manager on the floor at the time, and I found her behavior extremely rude and unprofessional. She continued talking to me while walking away from me, rather than taking the time to listen to or address my concerns. She also told me that she could refuse to accept future returns on my account if I did not do exactly what she wanted.
What was especially upsetting was that I was treated as though I were doing something dishonest, even after I explained that the item I was returning was faulty. I have never been treated this way at your store before, and I found the entire interaction extremely disrespectful.
I worked in retail for more than 20 years myself, and I can say with confidence that if I had treated a customer this way, my employer would not have considered that acceptable customer service.
I hope this incident is addressed appropriately. I am not looking for special treatment—I simply expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect when dealing with a store employee, especially a manager.
I have had positive experiences with your company in the past, which is why this interaction was so disappointing. I sincerely hope I do not have another experience like this in the future. I also believe this manager could benefit from a refresher course in customer service and appropriate communication with customers.
HOME DEPOT REFUSED TO HOLD ITS AUTHORIZED INSTALLER ACCOUNTABLE
Home Depot’s authorized installer, Bynum & Sons Plumbing, replaced two functioning water heaters for $4,134 before checking whether they were receiving gas.
A Bynum technician came to my home Monday, declared both heaters out of warranty and irreparable, and said they had to be replaced. The same technician returned Tuesday and replaced them. Only afterward did he discover that the gas had been turned off. The heaters had not failed; they had not been receiving gas.
The technician showed me only full-screen signature boxes, never the documents to which my signatures were attached. When I asked him to have the company send the records, he refused because he was “too busy.” Within approximately three to five minutes after he left, I sent multiple texts instructing him not to dispose of the removed heaters.
Bynum now denies that its technician made the Monday diagnostic visit and claims I simply ordered two replacements. It also claims I declined a $368 “diagnostic,” although Home Depot advertises a free water-heater estimate and no one clearly explained any distinction.
I showed the multiple pictures and texts and supporting evidence to a Home Depot manager. Rather than demand records or evidence from its installer, TJ, the manager said Home Depot could not question the plumbers. the entire exercise was absurd.
Bynum was not a contractor I independently selected. Home Depot referred it, designated it as an authorized installer, and placed Home Depot’s name behind the transaction. As of August 14, 2026, Bynum has a D− Better Business Bureau rating, with failure to respond to complaints identified as a reason. Home Depot nevertheless accepted Bynum’s unsupported denial over the evidence presented by its customer.
The initial failure to check the gas was grossly incompetent. Home Depot’s refusal to demand evidence from its own authorized installer made the situation indefensible.
I am seeking a full refund of the $4,134 charge and have filed disputes and complaints with the appropriate consumer-protection authorities.
Could not get anyone to help with a tool that was locked away. Had to walk to customer service desk to request someone but no one ever showed. Then I called the store to advise I could not get help and was leaving and the store agent just said okay thanks.
Pathetic, just pathetic, reps are unless, especially the customer service group from South Africa. They are rude and definitely arrogant. Bye Home Depot, will shop at Lowe’s.
We started a renovation project with every intention to use Home Depot to completion. First off we ordered 5 windows, got confirmation that all of the window would be delivered on a Friday. We hired a crew to be there on Saturday to set all of the windows. Imagine our surprise that only 3 of the 5 showed up. The other 2 windows showed up THE NEXT DAY as the crew was already done for the day because they had no more materials to work with. Ok so now I have to bring the crew out again...that costs money. Ok so we decide to order a door and they cando that and some other work along with the other 2 windows. Got verbal confirmation at the time that we ordered that the door would be delivered to a store location close to my husbands job and we could pick it up on the 7th...so we hired our crew for the following weekend. We start getting emails that the date kept getting pushed back but still expected by the weekend. Much to our disappointment and our expense, by the weekend, no door ...still have to pay our construction crew, it isnt their fault that only part of the materials arrived.
I called and called tried to get some resolution or some answers. We have so much more project ahead of us but our first two orders have actually cost us way more than the materials are even worth!
One of the live agents actually said to me " do you know what "estimated" means?" I said "do you know what verbal confirmation is?" We were told there were 44 units in store...pick up would be guaranteed!
I would definitely consider another way to get your project done if possible...
With my last phone cal to a manager ( who was extremely nice and professional) I was given a small credit towards my purchases but no where near what these delays have cost us. We will not be using HomeDepot for the rest of our projects due to the unreliability.
I’ve recently made purchases at the Calhoun, Georgia store and all I can say is that every area has professional, courteous, and helpful people working there. From the store manager to the Customer Service desk, the pro desk to the paint department everyone does an awesome job and treat you well. I highly recommend this store and his team.
I ordered a washer/dryer to stack and needed the old machines removed. First they came and left because after they turned the water there was some leak. OK- I fixed it, came back with 4 delivery/install guys and because they machines wouldn't clear a walk way by 2 inches, they refused to deliver. I told them with their harnesses they can clear the area going over the counter. They said they can't do that. I asked what would they do if they had to go up stairs, they say that is different-um seems more dangerous, then clearing a flat 3ft counter height. Either these delivery drivers are lazy or Home Depot has rules that don't work for smaller older homes. Went ABT-they had no problem figuring out the solution.
Horrible experience Delivery service is the worst. Customer help is near impossible. Don't Purchase Anything from Home Depot!
I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND
I would give zero stars if I could. This review is a bit different and pertains to the Home Depot location in Glastonbury, CT. A family member of mine had an interview there yesterday, they arrived 20 min early, and sat for over 2 hrs, no interview, no explanation, constantly was blown off. No one appeared to know anything yet he was sent an email, which he showed them. He left feeling totally defeated, no interview at all, no explanation about what happened with whomever was suppose to conduct the interview, no nothing. Female manager(?) or office staff member just rude when he knocked on the office door to inquire about his interview, she told my family member that she didn’t care how long he had been waiting, don’t knock on the office door. Like who says that to potential employee who had already been waiting 2 hours? Atrocious indeed, and if you will treat a potential employee that way with zero regard, then I’m confident that you treat your employee far worse. Shameful indeed.
You can grow old and die waiting for a human to 1) answer the phone;2) return a voicemail request for customer service at the Brandywine Home Depot, Wilmington, DE. HD is only "good" for online ordering anymore. Even when you go to a store,no one knows anything about anything.
Damaged good not being replaced in a timely manner. Horrible customer service and communication.
I ordered a Nestfair Queen loft bed online for my teenage soon. It arrived and the 3rd box had multiple broken boards in it and bent metal. I called Home Depot. They basically started a ticket for me but said I would have to contact the company myself to get a replacement box. Nestfair has been taking their own sweet time getting back to me and said they would have someone in the warehouse address it. I have asked 3 times to have the damaged box expedite shipped to us as my son is starting high school and currently sleeping on the floor. They have completely ignored those emails. I have no idea if or when the replacement parts will be sent. Nestfair has been horrendous to deal with and if Home Depot is going to sell something online then they need to have the customer service to back it up and should have handled all this myself. Home Depot will no longer be getting my business. I will never order anything from Nestfair again.
I went to the St Augustine, FL store this afternoon to buy a Makita Drill/Driver combo set. The parking lot was nearly empty, maybe 20 customers in the store. I spent 10 minutes by myself trying to compare when John arrived, though he clearly had things he would prefer to do. The combo on display, XFD10SY, had a display price of $199. The same model, XFD10SY, in a box below had a price in front of it as $179. On the shelf beside it was model CT225SXY with a price in front of it of $199. So, my first question was, is the price of XFD10SY $179 or $199? My second question is what's the difference between XFD10SY and CT225SXY? With this John began to get impatient with my ignorance. Each time I tried to rephrase these questions, John got more perturbed to the point that I didn't feel safe engaging with him further and left the store. John is bit of a hot head, who probably is more suited to a position not dealing with the public. I'm 67 years old. Being bullied by a customer service representative was the last thing I expected on a Sunday afternoon.
Bought a washer and and was damaged on delivery and complained to supervisor and management and was given the round around for three weeks to wait was there answer until my 30 day to return item ran out
They sent a man to install bathroom floor who didn't speak English. I tried to tell him it had special way to install...he did his way which was wrong. Home Depot would not do anything. Ordered toilet for delivery. Delivery guy told manager before leaving store, that it was broken..you could hear parts. She said deliver it. He had me check when he delivered, base was broken, I refused delivery and sent back. I called and told them to send another same day. When they knew how in distant I was they sent one right out. I have at least 3 other equally bad stories. I hate dealing with them but not much choice.
