Auto filled me without my knowledge and didn't send me any emails telling me i was being billed and they told over$1000 without me knowing for over a year. And wouldn't refund a single dollar. I would not recommend them whatsoever. Worst legal document service I've ever used. Worst sublet agreement creator ever

Hi Udan,
We’re truly sorry to hear how frustrating this experience has been for you. We understand how concerning it can feel to see unexpected charges, especially over time.
Our records indicate that the account began with a free 7‑day trial, which automatically renewed into a paid subscription afterward. Details about pricing, renewal, and how to cancel are shared during signup and in the confirmation email sent at the start of the trial.
We recognize that this process may not have been as clear as it should have felt from your perspective, and we regret the frustration it caused. In accordance with our refund policy, a refund was issued for the eligible portion of the subscription, though we understand this may not have met your expectations.
Your feedback is important, and we’re taking it seriously as we continue working to improve how we communicate billing and subscription details.
Sincerely,
Linda

Incomplete product support and poor result when trying to cancel subscription
The service didn't provide everything I was looking for, and whilst I was considering how to adapt a document, the paid subscription kicked in and after three months at the full rate it seems very expensive, particularly given its limitations in drafting a UK Will.
When I tried to cancel and arrange a refund, they refused.
I am no longer working and had hoped they would refund the final month (which works out over £1 a day!) but was disappointed with this and their attitude to solving the problem via their chat service. I did also ask to be sent a transcript of the chat but this seems to have been ignored.
Be very careful with this.

I used Law Depot for wills
I used Law Depot for wills, revocable trust and powers of attorney. I liked it a first, but for doing multiple documents it became quite confusing. Navigation is not intuitive and editing varied between documents. I had significant difficulty verifying and saving edits, which required repeated print outs to catch errors. Simple tasks became very difficult. Then I wasn't ready to sign the documents so I cancelled my monthly subscription, but when I tried to get back in I was only given the option of an annual subscription - around $120 vs the monthly of around $40. At that point I realized the billing practices are somewhat predatory and went ahead and edited the files I had downloaded and saved on my computer prior to cancelling. Was able to use adobe acrobat pro to edit and this went well. I would not use law depot again (unless I needed just one simple document), although I'm glad to have gotten the job done!

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re glad to hear you were ultimately able to complete your documents, but we’re sorry to hear parts of your experience were frustrating.
We understand how working on multiple legal documents at once can feel complex, and we appreciate your feedback about navigation and editing. Different document types may sometimes use slightly different editing experiences, and we’re actively working to make these workflows more consistent and intuitive for customers managing multiple files.
Regarding saving and verifying edits, we’re sorry to hear this process felt difficult. While we’re not able to see that you contacted our support team, we do want to mention that assistance is always available for troubleshooting, editing or saving concerns, and our team is happy to help ensure everything is working as expected.
We’d also like to clarify your experience with subscription options. When a monthly subscription is cancelled, access typically continues until the end of the current billing period. During that time, certain purchase options, such as starting another monthly subscription, may not be displayed to prevent overlapping or duplicate subscriptions. This can sometimes make it appear as though only an annual plan is available, when in reality the account still has active access. We understand how this could be confusing and appreciate you calling it out.
LawDepot offers several ways to access documents, including subscriptions and one-time purchase options, and availability can vary depending on account status. Your feedback here is helpful as we continue improving transparency around these options.
We’re glad you were able to use your saved files successfully, and we appreciate your honest feedback; it helps us improve both our product and the overall customer experience.
Thank you again for giving LawDepot a try.
Sincerely,
Linda

IT IS NOT FREE EXCEPT FOR DOING A TRIAL!
They say it's free, but after you type in absolutely every bit of your information, the only way to get your document is to sign up for a trial which will charge you if you forget to cancel before the trial is over. This is extremely shady business practice and wastes people's time.
Reply from LawDepot2026-05-22
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — we’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how this may have felt frustrating.
We’d like to clarify how our service works. While you can create and preview documents at no cost, downloading or using them requires selecting a licensing option.
We offer three choices:
-Free 7‑day trial, which provides full access to all document templates within a category
-One Year Pro subscription, billed annually (approximately $8.99–$12.99 per month) for ongoing access
-Basic one-time purchase, which provides access to a single document, with pricing ranging depending on the specific template and duration of access
We strive to be fully transparent in our pricing and services. Our purchase information is available in our Help and FAQ section for review before starting any template. In addition, pricing — including the exact Basic license cost for your selected document — is clearly presented at the end of the document creation process before any purchase decision is made.
Regarding the free trial, there is no obligation, and it can be cancelled at any time. Customers have 24/7 access to their account, which includes the ability to manage or cancel their subscription whenever they choose. When signing up for a trial, we also provide clear documentation — including a confirmation email — that outlines the exact renewal date and time, so customers know precisely when billing will occur if they decide to continue with the service.
Additionally, we ensure customers have step-by-step information on how to cancel, along with direct access to our customer service team (including phone support and hours of operation) should they need any assistance.
We truly value your feedback and will continue working to make our process as clear and straightforward as possible.
If you have any questions or would like support, our team is always here to help.
Sincerely,
Linda

Double Charging
After explicitly stating that they charge $49.99 or $50 PER MONTH I got two charges for the same within days of each other. Not sure what they're playing at, but for a legal service their finance department is dangerously incompetent and they owe me $50.
Reply from LawDepot2026-05-27
Hi Aaron,
Thank you for your feedback—we’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how concerning it is to see what appears to be duplicate charges.
In situations like this, it’s sometimes possible that more than one account or subscription was created, which can result in multiple billings. That said, we’d need to review your specific account details to determine exactly what happened and make things right.
Please reach out to us at [email protected], and our team will promptly investigate and assist you with resolving this, including any billing concerns.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and the opportunity to address it.
Kind regards,
Linda

Catch 22, Beware of free trial
I deleted my account. I received an email from lawdepot.com saying that my account was deleted several days later and that I would not have access to my account. Lawdepot.com continued to bill me on required auto pay. Without access to my account I cannot cancel autopay. It’s a scam. Now I am in talks with the escalation team to get my $48 back.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your experience — we understand how concerning unexpected charges can feel, especially if you believed your account had already been closed.
Since we don’t have any identifying details from your review, we’re unable to locate or verify the specific situation. In general, account deletion and subscription cancellation can sometimes involve separate steps, and in cases where access is no longer available, our support team can assist directly with billing or cancellation requests.
We’re glad to hear you’re in contact with our escalation team. If you would like us to review your account further, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] with any additional details.
We appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,
Linda

Horrible experience with support. She just kept trying to fob me off and not answer direct questions on how to perform a basic function within their console. I think AI would do a better job.

This is one nasty company
This is one nasty company. I subscribed to an LawDepot account on March 6, 2026 to print out a child travel consent form. I canceled the subscription the same day immediately after I printed it out. I have only ever used this account to print out that consent form. However, I was charged three times on March 13, 2026, April 15, 2026, and May 15, 2026. I have the cancellation email I got, the cancellation message in the account, AND the last day I printed anything out (Which is MARCH 6, 2026!!!!). When contacted, they told me that “according to their records I didn’t cancel” then offered a one month “courtesy”. Then, they said that I apparently opened two accounts on the same day so that’s why they’ll charge me.
Never in my life have I ever heard of such insanity when it comes to subscriptions. When people have a 7-day free trial, the trial ends ON THE SEVENTH DAY and they can use the service for those seven days as long as the subscriber cancels before the seventh day is over. This company somehow wants me to believe that I started TWO trials on the same day on the same email on the same account?! It’s not like I deleted the account then started a new subscription on a totally new account. And they can also see that I cancelled that damn subscription on March 6 because I wanted to avoid being charged, and you can clearly see that I only needed and used the service on March 6. No wonder they are so profitable because they are scammers. Avoid COMPLETELY. They are a bunch of thieves who will come here repeating the same story they were telling the BBB because they simply lack the ability to understand anything their customers say.
LAWDEPOT, I am not interested in your “explanations of how the billing occurred”, your “inability to refund all my money”, any regurgitation of your unethical “policies”, or your tone deaf and frankly vacuous responses from “Linda from customer support”. I WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK. How dare you go around scamming so many people!!!! Shame on this company!
Reply from LawDepot2026-05-21
Hi Bridget,
Thank you for your feedback.
After reviewing the subscription history, the cancellation confirmation you referenced was for your first trial, but the charges were associated with a separate second trial that was not canceled.
After the first trial was canceled, a second trial began on the same day, granting you full access to the account. That second trial remained active, the editor was accessed during the subscription period, and no cancellation was submitted before it converted to paid access.
LawDepot sends an order confirmation to the email address on file when a trial is started and a cancellation confirmation when a subscription is successfully canceled. Copies of these emails are also saved in the LawDepot account, and customers can view their subscription status from the account page at any time.
Because the second trial was not canceled before converting to paid access, the resulting charges were valid under our Terms of Use.
While we are unable to approve a full refund, our team offered a one-month courtesy refund as a goodwill gesture. We take customer concerns seriously and remain committed to transparent billing and reliable access for active subscribers.

Cally Fung

LawDepot advertise very low fees to register a corporation something like $99, however when you go to their website and start your registration the cost is kept hidden from you. They start collecting informationm page after page and wasting your time, when it is time to pay this is where you will find out that the true minimal cost exceed the advertised cost by at least 400% to 500%, this should be illegal and this business is run by a shred business people who think they can screw average Joe and get away with it. Therefore it is a dishonest and untrusted business to deal with.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Abdulghani. We’re sorry to hear that the pricing came across as unclear or frustrating — we understand how that can feel disappointing.
Our intention is always to be transparent about costs. The advertised price typically reflects our service fee, while government filing fees and any additional options are displayed later in the process once the details of the incorporation are better defined. We aim to present a full breakdown of all charges before any payment is required so customers can review everything carefully.
We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve how we communicate pricing and set expectations. If you’d like, our team would be happy to walk through the costs with you and answer any questions.
Sincerely,
Linda

Charged for account I couldn't access due to "passcode."
I was unable to access my account due to a password. So I was being billed for an account I couldn't cancel and when I logged into my account it showed me only one subscription as canceled. I had to call during business hours to finally get ahold of someone and cancel the subscription. Also was told it was my fault the additional charges came out of my account because I didn't put in a pass code and that I should have called earlier. The lady was rude, disrespectful and unprofessional.
So disappointed as this company caused more stress in an already difficult time of life.
100% DO NOT RECOMMEND
Reply from LawDepot2026-05-12
Hi Kristiana,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and the stress this situation caused.
We’d like to clarify that the charges were not related to a missing or unset password, but rather because the subscription remained active during that time. We understand from your message that there may have been difficulty accessing your account, and we’re sorry that this created confusion. If a password or login issue occurs, you can reset your password at any time directly on our website, and our support team is always available to help regain access quickly.
To help prevent situations like this, we also send an email at sign-up with a direct link to create or set your password, along with full access instructions.
Regarding the subscription itself, your account was enrolled in a 7-day free trial, which automatically renews into a monthly plan (between $39–$54 plus applicable taxes) unless cancelled before the trial ends. A confirmation email was sent at the time of registration outlining the trial period, renewal date, and how to cancel or contact support.
We’re also very sorry to hear about your interaction with our support team. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and your feedback will be reviewed internally to ensure we improve.
We truly regret the frustration this caused and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
Best regards,
Linda
