Live Auctioneers is a great spot to go for auctions. They host a multitude of auction houses with affordable auction houses for normal buyers and crazy expensive auction houses for those who have a ton of money to blow. You learn quickly who you can bid with and the ones who are out of your league. It’s a happy mix.
Live auctioneers also provides shipping.. sometimes the shipping is affordable and sometimes it’s highway robbery. But you have the option to ship elsewhere, so that’s good.
Live auctioneers has a help desk as well. And they get back to you in a timely fashion.
All in all it’s a great place to be….

I have had good success on the site in terms of the items received and I love browsing the site. The items I won were as described and I am overall pleased with the items and pricing of the item. However, the shipping costs are insanely high as are the credit card fees. They also do not combine shipping costs if you win multiple items from the same auction. A note to auction house…If you have a reserve on the item, it should be listed (or set as the minimum price) so time is not wasted on an auction where the item will be passed. Most people cannot spend hours waiting on their item to come up for bid. This is highly frustrating!
My recommendation to a fellow bidder is to proceed with caution, look at pictures very carefully, ask for more pics as needed, make sure you measure carefully and know the inside measurements of any cabinets and confirm the exterior dimensions were taken at the widest point (surprised how many pieces measure the body but not any molding), get a shipping quote ahead of time, add buyers fees and credit card fees and then decide if the piece is really worth your maximum bid. I have found that some times it is but a lot of the time it is not (I have access to good antique stores and flea markets). Twice, my bid was effectively doubled with all the fees.
I do enjoy the site and will likely use it again for the right item but I understand the frustrations expressed in several reviews. Unfortunately, it does not appear live auctioneers is taking any steps to meaningfully address the concerns.
