My experience purchasing a rug was excellent. The rug I bought was sub-standard. the company reached out to me explaining the mistake, and offered me a much better rug for the same price. They were extremely kind, helpful and professional. I received the rug a few days later and was delighted with it.

I like reminders and I like the response to inquiries by the LA staff but I find some of the auctioneers to be less than ethical.
I have seen the same exact personalized engraved unique item listed at least 5 times despite it being reported as "sold".
Clearly that is misleading as they should just list a reserve.
I also do not like the inconsistency of buyers premiums ranging from 20-30% as well as some charging ridiculous shipping prices for a small domestic item.

My saved searches disappeared
My saved searches disappeared so I contacted Liveauctioneers help department for assistance restoring them. It took a few emails back and forth but they were successful in retrieving them and restoring them within about 10 days. They initially said they couldn't help me but the customer service representative stuck with it and pursued it until they satisfied my request.

I wish I read these reviews before I got wrapped up in the excitement of the auction.
Basically every seller is a scam site. Try looking up their address... it's going to be some random townhouse in FL or NV or a non descript stripmall location. Real auction houses have real, physical locations and real people. Call the phone number and see if someone answers.
Fake and counterfeit items are the only things you can buy here. I got scammed, you should not. If the auction house cannot provide clear provenance then it is a fake. If a price seems to good to be true, then it is.
I look forward to the day this site and all its scam "auction houses" are shut down. Hopefully they end up facing real consequences.

I received an email from LiveAuctioneers giving me a security code which I did not request. The email said if I didn't request this code to notify them immediately. I did, and they responded back immediately. I was impressed by their prompt response and timely information.

By FAR the most expensive auction site that I have come across. Fees, extra charges, shipping is exhorbitant. It's a bummer because they get good stuff, customer service is good, and the site works well. But the premium paid is ridiculous, absolutely not worth the huge premium.
UPDATED: Thank you for the feedback; I will reach out to the email below. I understand the factors involved in shipping. My review is based on my personal experience as a shipper and working with other auction sites and shipping facilities. Between extra fees and shipping, liveauctioneers is 4-7x more expensive than every other auction place that I use.

Misrepresentation in payment methodology - bait and switcg
Live auctioneers has published credit card vendors they accept and even tell you that your card will be charged 72 hours after winning a lot. Now the auction house is messaging me directly threatening me and trying to force me to pay via wire transfer which makes me feel uncomfortable. Liveauctioneers is doing nothing to intervene or initiate payment via credit card.
