I can't speak to the negative reviews posted, but if I could give Blurb more than 5 stars, I truly would. I had a 28-page standard landscape photobook printed as a gift for a dear friend, with very rich artwork, imagery and vector typeface uploaded from PDFs, and the finished book is exquisite. The quality of the layflat binding, the heavy stock pages printed, and color reproduction and the finishing details are all impeccable. Yes the shipping might be expensive. And yes, the book is more expensive than something you'll find at Snapfish or Shutterfly, but Blurb is ultra-premium by comparison, true desktop publishing. I am so glad I went with Blurb for printing this book, which will be a special keepsake for a dear friend's milestone birthday. No shade on Snapfish or Shutterfly, as I've used them before and was satisfied with their quality. But this book was different. Blurb is next level, and they delivered flawlessly.
I would not recommend Blurb for family photo books. It's very difficult to drag photos and have them fit into the layout that you choose. I gave up working on the first page. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to Shutterfly but would not recommend Blurb to anyone.
Blurb delivered exactly the product they advertised. The software had a learning curve, but it was intuitive enough that I didn't need tutorials. Manufacturing was fast—I had the book in about a week. The print quality matched the premium claim: colors were rich without being oversaturated, detail held up well, matte paper gave the images a sophisticated feel, and there were no unexpected printing artifacts or resolution issues. The only caveat is that a standard perfect-bound softcover doesn't lay flat, but that's a characteristic of the binding, not a manufacturing flaw. If you want a lay-flat book, you need to order the lay-flat product.
Great help and (though a bit slow) customer service. I’ll use them again.
I had initial problems with a photo book I had submitted to Blurb and getting their customer service to respond to the issues. In the end, they came through to make everything peachy-keen and resolved the issues in question. I’m giving them 4/5 because they took so long to get back to me (two weeks) and need a more responsive customer support process. Other than that, no complaints.
Useless. Allegedly delivered my order BUT today haven't. Their fault/couriers fault, doesn't matter. Net result I don't have the product I paid £100-00 for!
I’m very very happy about my book, the program is excellent and organized very well. I suggest this site if you want erite your book for the firsts times! Also the shipping is incredibly fast, i’m surprised. My book arroved 3 day earlier.
For my wedding, I designed a 32 page magazine that consisted of our wedding timeline, ceremony order, wedding party, fun facts about us as bride and groom, how we met, honeymoon details, signature cocktails, bar and dinner menu, guest awards, vendor details, and much more.... I ordered 99 magazines for my wedding, 1/3 of them were completely useable - trimming was so poor to where the border was completely cut off for so many of them. When I tried to get this resolved, I ended up sharing over 10 emails and 25 different photos in the exact way they asked for them and the only thing I was offered was a 40% discount on my next order. I just wanted a refund of the ones that were poorly done, not a 40% discount on my next order- there won't be a next order. And when I hoped it would get resolved, they went unresponsive. I'm confident that the lack of response was in hopes that I would just move on and forget the entire thing however when many of your guests did not receive a magazine like planned and after you spend more than $700- you expect to have high quality work. This is extremely disappointing we were only offer a discount code and not a partial refund. I'm not even asking for a full refund- only one for the magazines we couldn't use.
The first order we did, 4 out of 30 books were worth keeping. Each book was cut to a different size, borders were uneven or non-existent. Colors were unsaturated. However, customer service was quick to correct the situation and do a reprint. They should have provided free expedited shipping too. I had to wait a week. The reprint was fine. But it was like there was no quality control for that first order.
I’ve ordered from Blurb for years, but my most recent experience was disappointing. The paper quality was flat and lifeless — it didn’t do justice to my photography at all. When I contacted them about it, instead of offering to reprint the book or make it right, they simply tried to sell me another one. That felt dismissive of a legitimate concern. After years of loyalty, I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere
What's up with no customer service line and after I approved the layout, it printed with a white line at the bottom of all pages? I would never have approved that--it wasn't visible in their process and why would they print that if they saw it. No way to catch simple issues like this? I resized the thing a million times to get it right and then I get it printed like this. Yikes.
I got the proof on my book and now want to order soft and hard copy versions of my book. The problem is that no soft cover option is made available on my on-line order form and there is no one returning help messages at Blurb. I certainly can't get anyone to return my two messages. What gives, Blurb??

No way to contact support except via email... and then expect to wait for days for a reply. Expedited shipping is a joke... packages were shipped on the day they were supposed to arrive and still haven't shown up yet. No Quality Control... this is a "press print and go" operation with whatever print partners they are using. Ship to NJ and print in Seattle?? Why when you have a printer on the east coast! Find another provider... save yourself a headache!

Beautiful!
I made my very first photo book ever, and it turned into a huge 240-page project that nearly drove me crazy. A colleague recommended Blurb to me, and quite late in the process I started reading people’s reviews here — and honestly, I panicked a little thinking about everything that could go wrong.
But my book was delivered exactly on the day Blurb promised, and it is absolutely stunning! It’s for my son’s confirmation, and this is the kind of book we will keep forever. The quality of the paper and linen cover is superb. I’m so happy - thank you so much, Blurb. I will definitely be making more books with you in the future!

I used Blurb from the start of their company. It was so easy using their software BookSmart. Recently I worked on a book using BookSmart and went to upload it to Blurb. I received an error to find out they do not support it anymore. I tried Bookwright and it is not user friendly. I complained to Blurb but they did not care. I found a better bookmaking company with better color and better options Pikperfect. Good bye Blurb!

Bad quality - be careful ordering standart paper!!
Be careful using this company. I just received my book - the paper is grey and looks like recycled paper. Also, if this is their standard, it can't be used for photos. It is for the trash, and you pay a lot of money for it. Bad quality - spend so much time for nothing.
Decent quality and price HOWEVER, interface will make throw your computer out of your window!!!!
Riddled with bugs, and idiotic layout choices, functions not working. Feels like the design team of the page NEVER actually tried using it.
If you survive the numerous, guaranteed mental breakdowns, you will have a nice album.
I placed an order on March 19 and paid for expedited delivery guaranteed by March 27.
The order did not arrive, and I received no tracking information or meaningful communication. When I reached out, I only received vague responses saying they would “check with the printer.”
This is extremely disappointing given the time-sensitive nature of the order and the additional cost paid for expedited shipping.
Ultimately I paid this company approximately $105 for absolutely nothing. Never received my item and the lack of communication from the company is appalling. I would not recommend relying on Blurb for important or time-sensitive projects. Please save yourself the time and money and use any other company!!

I have previously had good experience… But now
I have previously had good experience with Blurb, but this time it's awful. No way of contacting support or getting a reply. That's just plain bad customer service.
Blurb has put a wrong address on my book - I know this cause UPS has told me; my name and everything checks out, but the adress doesn't. Now my book is stuck and Blurb have charged me all the money they wanted. Awful mistake from Blurb's side. The book was supposed to arrive on the 6th of February for my wife's birthday, now it is just sitting stuck in a UPS-central and they are not allowed to change the address.

Quality issues again! Front cover lovely white line across it.
Quality issues again. On the front cover!!! 5/6 books affected Seems to be no QC of ordered books. Will adjust rating depending on response but auto reply suggest higher volume of requests than normal.

Poor customer service, item still missing
I am very disappointed with the service I have received. I placed my order on 21 January and was told it would be delivered on or before 2 February, yet it is still showing as “in production” and has not even been handed to the courier. This is well beyond the stated 4–5 day print timeframe advertised on the website.
What is most frustrating is the complete lack of communication. I logged a support ticket and followed up by email multiple times, but have received no response at all. The website states that customers will be notified of delays, but this has not happened in my case.
Overall, the experience has been poor — slow processing, missed deadlines, and no customer support. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
