Paul made my experience amazing. This was a scary decision for me to make, and he answered every question I had and never made me feel small for asking. He kept me informed every step of the way even if it was to tell me they were still waiting on underwriting. Jennifer also was so reassuring and helpful with my financial information. Overall, it was one of the best things I could have done to help me be financially independent in my retirement years. I would highly recommend Finance of America to anyone who may be struggling financially to get them on their feet again.

John Jay was so great to work with and kept me up to date with everything that was going on. I probably heard from him about every 3 to 4 days, it was very refreshing to have someone take the time to keep me up to date. My experience was finished in a timely manner and I truly appreciate that. Thanks to everyone involved.

It took me 9 months to think on doing a…

It took me 9 months to think on doing a reverse mortgage. I should never thought about it because the 4 months it took once I started turned into a nightmare lots of hick ups causing my mortgage to be filed into a foreclosure. Once again money out of my pocket asking begging people for money to get a attorney on board to stop the foreclosure while finance of America to get things right on their end. Then sending a noterer twice.

Jeana Cason Made a Stressful Process Manageable

Applying for a reverse mortgage can be very stressful. For years, reverse mortgages had a bad reputation and were often associated with seniors losing their homes, so I was very anxious about even starting the process. I received a Finance of America advertisement in the mail, called the number, and was connected with Jeana Cason. From the beginning, she patiently walked me through every step. She helped me manage the fear and anxiety that came with making such a big decision and became what I affectionately thought of as my “loan therapist.” Jeana told me what to expect at every stage, encouraged me to take notes, and helped me think through the questions I might have. Everything happened exactly as she said it would, right down to the appraisal and the appointment with the notary. Knowing what was coming next made the process feel much less overwhelming and helped me trust that I was making the right decision. My experience also gave me a great deal of confidence in Finance of America and its HECM program. The process was transparent, well organized, and designed to help me understand exactly what I was agreeing to. Jeana did far more than guide me through a reverse mortgage. She helped me overcome the fear and anxiety that might otherwise have prevented me from moving forward. With patience, compassion, and extraordinary attention to detail, she prepared me for every step of the process, and everything happened exactly as she said it would. Because of Jeana, my husband and I can remain in the home where we raised our family, and Lulu, our 11-year old dog, can remain in the home and yard she loves. I am deeply grateful for Jeana’s patience, kindness, honesty, and professionalism. She made a major life transition feel manageable and made a meaningful difference in our lives. Somewhere along the way, I also came to feel that I had made a new friend, which made this experience even more special. I would also like to thank Sabrina Gonzales, our loan processor, for her professionalism and help throughout the process.

Overall, my experience was very good. Communications with my salesperson, Amy Jurkowsky were mostly excellent. I did encounter two-week delay due to, I don't know, confusion? misunderstanding? poor decision-making? on a required repair which is why I knocked a star off my review.

Being 83 and single (divorced) I checked several equity loans Helocs, Hea, VA/options, Hecm, Reverse and the financial institutions doing. All cases are different, in my case I chose a Reverse with Finance Of America. 1) didn't want an additional payment with my mortgage payment adding a bigger financial burden. 2) paying off the monkey on my back credit card debt everyone has these days, 3) Social Security in trouble, bankrupt 2032, in 6 years talking about cut backs $$$ 22%-24% an added burden, trying to making payments keeping my perfect credit score not having a unforeseen future repos or a foreclosure many people having. All options have unavoidable costs to closing. I have no one to leave too. Benefits/no mortgage payments, except taxes and insurance, all remaining debts paid off, debt free. A sizable cash out equity $$$ into my checking at closing and another sizeable $$$ into my checking after 12 months. Felt very comfortable with Nermeen Salwanis, very professional and experienced with Finance of America, helped me through process, since markets changed I received additional thousands $$$ at closing. Can live in my home for life
