Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. A general feeling amongst customers points to substandard customer service and significant issues with delivery logistics. Many consumers recounted difficulties with interactions, such as extended hold times, being hung up on, or receiving disrespectful treatment from staff and management. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that certain employees provided exceptional assistance and knowledge, going above and beyond for the shopper's needs. Some reviewers experienced timely and efficient deliveries, or found store associates genuinely helpful with product guidance. Conversely, other individuals pointed out problems like receiving damaged appliances, instances where delivery drivers left items inappropriately, or receiving inaccurate items after ordering online.

First of all, I have been a loyal lowes customer for years. But, their customer service the past couple of years has been horendous. I decided to try Home Depot, I do have to drive a little further to get to one. Yesterday was my third time shopping there. I went to the location in Manchester Mo. The people there are amazing! They greet you at the door, help you locate the the things that you are looking for, and send an associate to help when needed. I would like to express my gratitude to Jack in the plumbing department and Tye in the garden center. Both, were more than happy to assist me in finding what I needed. Seems like the people at lowes turn the other way when they see someone looking for help. I will be going to Home Depot from now on. Thank you all for your help, keep up the great work! Patty
They had one job, to deliver what I ordered and paid for. I am convinced this nightmare started by ordering my patio sliding door and screen door online instead of at the store. Upon the date of scheduled delivery I received the screen door but not the slider. I received an email that delivery was rescheduled for two days later because I returned it. I questioned how I could return something that was never delivered, then after receiving confirmation of the new delivery date I got a text it was canceled and my card would be credited for a "discounted" price which I am still contesting. I had to place a new order for the slider it was delivered on time. After it was installed I found that the screen door that had been delivered was damaged. I had to bring it to the store but because of the incorrect "discount" credit I was given I wasn't allowed to do a swap out but was told I needed to pay the full price. After explaining the situation I finally was allowed to do the swap out. All told I must have made a dozen calls to their "customer service" department and may have reached one person with any CS skills.
Laiba my sales clerk went out of her way to get a product for me. I was so impressed that she went above and beyond the call of duty for me she really cared for my need. She is a good a good example of what a caring employee should look like. Melissa also helped me find a product she was so kind also.
Store associates were a great benefit to my visit. Searching for few items, they were right on the money directing me to the correct location. Kudos to Milton from the egg Harbor TWP location in NJ.
I want to recognize one of your employees, Bonnie Westfall in the Home Depot at Market Place in Forsyth County in GA. My wife and I were looking for a new cook top for our home. Bobbie helped us look at all the options and select a model. Bonnie wrote it up and arranged for the company to come out and measure the opening. However, the hole was not large enough, so Bonnie spent a lot of time reviewing other options which was difficult because the unit we had used a very small hole. She finally found a model, but the installation was going to be very expensive because they said 4 cuts were required in the hole. So, we decided not to move forward. Bonnie worked extremely hard to find a solution, and we appreciate it very much - give her a raise!
Initially, I purchased flooring that I loved and felt the price was great. I asked the worker if there was anything additional I needed to do, because I wanted to assure to receive the flooring chosen with the great price. I asked to leave the installer's name that was to pick up the flooring, and was told that would not be necessary, that all he needed was my name. When my installer went to pick up the flooring I carefully chose, he was given the wrong flooring. He laid the flooring as instructed. When I came home, excited to see my new floor, it was an entirely different floor. Sadly, the same installer wanted to charge me an additional fee to remove and install the correct floor. I went back to Home Depot to share my dilemma, and was arrogantly and casually told by the same person who wrote the initial order, 'Just bring it back, we will exchange it. I expressed the cost awaiting as a result of his mistake, and he passively dismissed my concern, until I asked for a manager. The store manager eventually came back to tell me, there was nothing more they could do for me. I contacted corporate and was treated with the utmost respect and resolve happened. A different manager from the same store called, and assured they would make things right. He was professional, courteous, and fair. End result, Home Depot made things right. The correct floor was installed far better than the existing. The installers even added additional items needed to complete the job accurately, at zero additional cost to me. Although, my initial issue seemed far from resolve, Home Depot stood by the amazing reputation they always held with me prior to this past incident. Thanks H.D. for making things right. I still say, 'There's no reason to go anywhere else!
Returned a light fixture today because the item in the box was clearly used, had paint on the item and the inside of the packaging, was missing instructions, and did not match the finish indicated on the box itself. While my interaction with the customer service agent was pleasant, she seemed unsurprised and unconcerned, and needed me to indicate whether there was a problem with the item. Customer service agents would do well to open the box and check any unsealed return -- ideally on acceptance to prevent fraud, but at the very least before returning items to stock.
Ordered tile that came broken. Driver was pushy and insisting that my crew sign foe the tile. They refused he said some choice words to them and drived off. I called home depot and said they would have to wait for the driver to cancel the order and that my refund would take 10 business days. Never again will I ever go to Home depot. If I have to drive 50 miles to a lowes I will.
I wish I had read this before buying anything here, it’s my own fault, I didn't imagine it could be this bad. Guys, what are you doing?! No help, rude service!!!
Home Depot web site is Horrible!! to say the best.. it takes forever to find what your looking for, because you did,nt call it the same as what they do, and now if you find it, you can not see any information on it. nothing!!!
im not writing this review for HDs benefit cause they aint going to change!!! im writing it for customers only...where do i begin, there online store is a big joke, looks good until you go to checkout and thats where the fun begins with "sorry something went wrong or try to refresh the page or try again later", you will go round and round with this nonsense and only waste a whole lot of your valuable time...I just tried to log into my account with their verification code only to be told there is a technical issue and try again later!!! and save yourself a big headache and not try the chat feature cause its a big friggin joke as a well...last time I tried it i spent a good half hour with the chatbot and person going over previous info submitted and then it grinds to a super slow pace...when I revealed my impatience with chatter she apologized and said she was dealing with 10 other customers and that she could resolve my issue but I would have to be patient...Im not so sure she could and not having hours I ended it...BOTTOM LINE: there IT team and customer service is a disgrace!!! suspect both are offshore, probably south america if my hunch is correct...There #1 home improvement retailer boast doesnt quite match there#99 online site and customer support...you would think they would spend less on ad boasting and more on there webservices but stockholders would not approve esp. since their CEO and other corporate wonks recieve stocks... and forget about signing up for there Pro Account because its a big joke too...I spent over $2500 this and got a whopping $25 reward!!! thats !% !!! Which I would like to use but cannot because of there non functional website plus their store employees who insist that i need the HD app on my phone or a bar code printout which I cannot find on there wonderful website... Bottom Line: dont reward these incompetent boobs any more than you have too , cause i know I no longer will....
Ordered porch swing in store. Item was never delivered and sent back to origin. Refund or explanation was never given. Called/text chatted to inquire and was given bad information. Item is still not ordered 6 hours and at least talking to 6 employees later. If a part of it was not refunded to gift card, I would already be filing my charge back. Never again.
we purchased a dewalt battery charger that is defective and not working we spoke to a store manager at home depot named matt he was very rude and disrespectful toward us he did not listen to us properly He refused to assist us with this discrepancy.I will be notifying corperate office regarding this matter
If I could give 0 stars I would. Sheryl Hermin at the Hudson, WI location hasn’t been great to work with. We paid $30,000 for a kitchen remodel. We had to do all the leg work. Setting up all the appointments. Stuff was getting delayed. The communication between Home Depot and the contractors was awful. The contractors would get to the house and have all these questions as Home Depot never sent the contractors the information. The day before our countertops got installed she finally emailed back about electric and said we needed to have a pop up outlet and Home Depot was out of stock. Then our countertops got installed and now we don’t have electric and it’s our problem and we need to figure it out. I WOULD NEVER recommend doing a home improvement project with Home Depot. Absolutely awful customer service. Not to mention our project took over 4 months to finish.
Terrible dishwasher install job! Brought dented dishwasher the first time...ok. No worries. New one came a week later and was 'installed' and instantly the dishwasher drain into the sink leaked. Never mind the mess the installer left in the kitchen. Called them to finish the install properly and they said they'd be there the next day and they were a no-show. Then Saturday AM I got an email that said they would show up in a couple hours. Finally showed up and said they couldn't add caulking to prevent the leak under the sink. Pointless to have them out. Go anywhere else!
Return policy is fantastic. You can return most mdse to any local store. If you don't have the receipt, they can lookup the charge using your credit card. Also, as long as the mdse is in new shape, date purchased doesn't matter either.
I tried to return a product that was completely sealed (not opened) with a receipt and had been paid by my valid credit card. It was denied with no justification. They pointed me to their third party, Retail Equation (TRE). I contacted TRE thru their web site. Again, no justification. They claimed I had no receipt - a total lie. I have been a loyal customer of Home Depot for years and have spent tens of thousands of dollars as a Pro customer in the last 10 years. No more. The returns now are treated like the Insurance companies: Deny, deny, deny, for no legit reason. Shame on you Home Depot for contracting with a party that has sold you their cool aid. My return was not a fraud.
I recently bought an LG refrigerator from Home Depot in New Rochelle and it's fine. I love it. This review is about the third party vendor Home Depot uses to haul away old appliances from the customer's home. My old fridge was over 35 years old and deeply stained by rust from our water here in the Bronx. I live on an island and have been told that we are at the end of the line with some of our water pipes being over 150 years old! Therefore we have rust and get red stains everywhere: sinks, toilets and the refrigerator which had a leak for a while, so it was stained. Home Depot sent its third party delivery service to bring my new fridge and take out the old one but they refused when they saw the old one. They barely spoke English but I did catch one of them mumbling about " cucarachas"! I was livid because there has never ever been a roach in my house in the 35 years I've lived here and there certainly weren't any in my refrigerator! I called customer service while they were there and at first they were sympathetic but as I was trying to get them to get a Spanish speaker to communicate with the delivery men the delivery guys got into the elevator and left. Customer service rescheduled me for the following day to try again. On the second try the same thing happened: they refused to take it and walked out. Again I called customer service --and now my blood pressure is probably 450 over 220--but the delivery guys had taken pictures of my rust -streaked fridge and so I was told by Home Depot customer service that they would not return and there was nothing I could do. Oh but they would refund my $50 for the takeaway. Gee thanks. I'm a single senior who has no one to help me get a refrigerator to the back of my building on whenever is NYC Appliance garbage day, after I have removed the doors and shelves and taped it all up and whatever else crazy annoying stuff NYC forces you to do to throw out an appliance. So I ended up calling some very nice folks at LoadUp.com who did haul the thing away yesterday,to the tune of $180 bucks. Home Depot, do better! Either get rid of those pompous ass delivery people of yours or instruct customers clearly that their ancient appliances, that are going in the trash, must first pass the white glove Martha Stewart test!!
Was working on a bathroom remodel project and had serious problems with 2 items. We ordered a vanity and 2-days after it was ordered, Home Depot's vendor called to say that particular model was not available and asked if we wanted a different color or a larger one at the same price. Told him no and was able to cancel the order, yet 2-months later, it is still available on the web site. Definate bait and switch tactic. The other order was for floor tile. Placed an order for next day delivery. Next day get a phone call that the tile is not in stock and won't be delivered the next day, but later the next week. The order showed shipped and tracked all the way to the local store. After 3-days of no delivery, I called the local store to inquire on the status. After 2 days of working with them, find out the tile is out of stock with no eta on backorder. Cancelled order, took a month to get the refund, and the website still shows>1200 units available to order. This is the definition of consumer fraud. Using my money to refund others.
