They increased the monthly fee from $3 to $12 without notifying me (I have searched and tried to find the email and cannot - if there was anything about a fee increase or subscription change, it was buried in an email with none of those keywords), and they refuse to refund the $12 despite the fact that I called and cancelled the day I was charged and have not used this month of service that I just paid for. I also do not need or want the extra services they are offering with the increased monthly fee. I would have considered returning to them when I had enough money to invest to make it worth it, but based on my experience I don't plan to return, and will not recommend them to anyone. Now I am just hoping that all my funds will transfer successfully back to my bank account without extra fees or issues.
Crappy Crappy Crappy Crappy
For a user base that averages less than $200 of deposits in their first month, charging $12 a month eats up a SIGNIFICANT portion of that. That's essentially a 6% monthly brokerage fee. A human advisor typically charges 1-3% and you're asking DOUBLE that for a robo-advisor. Bring back the $3 a month option and I'll consider returning, until then, I'll invest my money with Schwab.
So I have an email dated July 23rd with headers attached and whatnot saying I would be billed $32 for the annual plan on August 1st 2026 Stash turned around and billed me a $108; Total bait and switch I do not recommend them at all.
They increased fees from the $3/month to $12/month, giving exactly one email notice where the insane 4x fee was buried in the body of the email and not indicated at all in the subject line, nor was it in the app. Despite canceling 4 days into the month they are refusing to refund a prorated fee amount, and only allowing me to speak with a chat bot that has given conflicting advice. This used to be an okay option for hands-off beginners to investing but now at this price and given the terrible AI bots I would not recommend this garbage to anyone.
My Stockpile account transferred to Stash. Once I realized how high their monthly fees were, I decided to move my investments to another company. For one account they transferred the money without issue and that why I gave 2 stars instead of one. For my other 2 accounts it was a nightmare. They were unable to close and transfer the funds to the other company and it was a nightmare of back and forth with their AI chatbot, emails, and actual phone calls with customer service to get them to send me the funds. After over 2 month of multiple phone calls and multiple e-mails saying they are "escalating the issue" I finally gave up and sent a complaint to FINRA and the SEC and that's when I finally received my funds. I also didn't find their website very user friendly.
There are great people should really try this way of investing the future is here. I’m impressed
I originally signed up for Stash years ago when they were offering a free account. One thing I really enjoyed was the regular “Stash Parties,” where you could collect small amounts of free stock. It was a fun feature, and even after they started charging $3 per month, I kept my account thinking I would eventually use it enough to justify the fee. Recently, I received an email announcing that the monthly fee would be increasing to $12, along with additional services. I was planning to cancel, but when I logged into my account, I was offered a discounted $6/month plan. The website also indicated that my upcoming payment would remain the same, so I decided to hold off on canceling or making changes until I had more time to evaluate whether the service was worth keeping. When my next draft came through, I was charged the full $12. I contacted customer service, and the representative said she would check with her supervisors about refunding the difference. She came back and explained that the $12 charge was for July and that their new plan took effect August 1st. With that explanation, I fully expected her to say they would be making an adjustment. However, it was just the opposite… they refused to refund the difference, and only offered to keep my account active at $6 per month. When I explained that I wasn’t willing to continue paying for a service from a company that I felt was providing misleading information and poor customer service, the representative said they didn’t always know what was on the website and immediately asked if I wanted to close my account. I said yes. It’s disappointing because I had been a customer for years and actually enjoyed the platform in the beginning. Unfortunately, the misleading billing information and the company’s unwillingness to make it right left me with no confidence in continuing to do business with them.
Someone recommended Stash to me and I decided to take advantage of the 7 day trial period. I was amazed at the ease of setting up my account and of the advice and other advantages of utilizing the app- especially the investment assessment. I would recommend this app to anyone seeking a safe way to learn and apply investment principles for their financial future.
Stash is awesome. Very worth it!
I came to Stash from FLIFF and was going to earn bonus “experience points” on their app, but for some reason it won’t show up as a verified email even though on the stash side it says my account is set up. Is there anything you can do to fix that? If so, then I would give a higher rating.
The web site is easier to navigate then most. It’s easy to save at 5.00 a week and it does keep you informed of what where and when of investments
My account was transferred from Stockpile (which was free) to Stash (which is not) because Stockpile went out of business and sold their accounts to Stash. It took about 3 months just to be able to access my account. My only means of communication was email and responses were unhelpful and took forever. I ended up having to provide countless documents, including my W2 and when I was FINALLY able to get in I found that my stocks had been sold without my knowledge or consent. I now once again have to wait and hope that some day I will get an email to explain what happened. I’ve been told no estimate can be given for how long that will take. I find the app confusing, and I now somehow ended up with $3K in an account I don’t want with no way to get it out, instead of in the custodial account it should be in.
Not easy to locate my own stocks or how to purchase different ones them. Grant.
I couldn't really navigate the app without buying a subscription, but it does offer am nice experience for beginners.
Very knowledgeable and kind and professional. Answered all of my questions and explained everything that I was unsure of.
I've never invested before , I love the auto stash it really helps with not making mistakes.
