What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently mention that the staff members are exceptionally friendly, patient, and professional when handling anxious pets. Consumers find the appointment booking process very straightforward, and many are thoroughly impressed by how smart and clean their dogs look after a grooming session. Some reviewers were not happy with significant price increases, unexpected extra charges, and feeling like they did not receive good value for their money. A few other people also felt that staff members could be impolite, lacking proper communication, or occasionally handling pets in a less gentle manner during appointments.

Groom room Whitstable

Groom room Whitstable, such a shame they just cant keep their staff, I have been let down on numerous occasions for my dogs groom. When they have staff the groom is one of the best I have ever had for my dog, but they let you down too frequently and this time 3 days notice to now find my poor dog a groom which will be practically impossible this short notice. So disappointed yet again

This place doesn’t even deserve a 1…

This place doesn’t even deserve a 1 star. My mum dropped off her miniature schnauzer for a 2 hour appointment with a specific girl in the Dunfermline branch. The girls she spoke to on taking Millie in was given clear instructions on what the outcome wanted was and all was completely ignored. On returning to collect Millie after the 2 hours a pair of clippers had been taken all over her taking all her hair off with her long hair on her legs, chest, stomach and beard all cut off, all left was her eyebrows. When my mum expressed she was not happy with how they had cut Millie’s hair she was returned with nothing but abuse and 4 grown woman was standing shouting at her. When my mum was bent down to Millie one of them actually called her a “f****** b****” and told to “f*** off” by a member of staff. She was told if she wanted a professional 6 hour cut then she should take her dog elsewhere. On upon asking for a manager for the way the staff was treating her she was told the manager left at 4pm and they demanded £70 to be paid. One of the girls actually looked her up and down and said “look at the state of you, your a grown a** woman” sniggering while it being said. She asked for names as they had no name badges on so she could file a complaint and was told no. Also before and after going into this groomers Millie was shaking so much and since being home has not been herself since which is out of the ordinary. After leaving the Dunfermline branch she went straight to Kirkcaldy to speak to someone there and was met with the complete opposite experience. They couldn’t be any nicer and helped with filing a complaint and was actually told that company policy she should have been called to ask about shaving Millie which she was not. Going forward will not be back, currently waiting to hear back about the complaint from higher up. I would completely avoid this groomers.

Don’t even deserve a star but no option…

Don’t even deserve a star but no option to give no star rating beckton branch London Came out smelling worse nails wasn’t cut not even took loose hair off got home and I have no clue what has been used on him as now he’s ear inside and outside are pouring of blood dosent even smell fresh one bit disgusting

Dog smelled like a muddy puddle.

My Yorkie had a full groom last August and she looked and smelt lovely. Her cut was exactly as you'd expect a Yorkie to look. However,I booked her in for the same full groom in March this year. Not at all happy.Mazey was booked for 10am and at 11.30 I picked her up.Her coat was clipped very short which was OK.I was told she didn't like her beard trimmed and they had to muzzle her this time. Her ears hadn't been clipped properly or cleaned.I asked if she'd had her nails clipped and was told no,I don't think so.Her tail has been hacked and looks ridiculous. She smelled like a muddy puddle. She had a weepy mark under her eye .£53 for this? Booked to go back and have the knots teased from behind her ears and nails trimmed the next week as I was told if I leave it longer than 2 weeks I will have to pay for this.11.45 and the groom room was empty, why? They opened at 10am so they had plenty if time to trim the nails then. Won't be going back ever again. Several other people have also complained about the smell and poor groom they have had this year and how all the dogs had the same groom regardless of the breed of dog.

Rising prices, hidden fees, disappointing service

The staff member who checked me in was friendly, but the overall experience was poor. Prices have increased significantly, with almost everything now treated as a paid add-on. What used to be a £65 groom is now £79 just to request a specific coat length. It feels like there’s a constant push to charge extra. I was told my dog would be ready around 1pm and that I’d be contacted when she was ready. Instead, I received a call at 13:05 asking if I was on my way, not informing me she was ready. When my wife arrived shortly after, we were charged a £10 late fee. This was never mentioned at drop-off, and we were only contacted after the estimated collection time. My wife was then told I had been informed about the late fees on the call. That’s simply not true. I explained my wife would be collecting after finishing a swim lesson with our daughter and was told “okay, see you soon”. No mention of late fees at any point. We had stopped using The Groom Room previously due to declining quality and rising prices, but gave it another try. This confirmed nothing has improved. It feels far more focused on maximising charges than providing a good customer experience. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is that the groom itself was acceptable and check-in was smooth. Beyond that, disappointing.

Whoever has a spaniel don’t go there…

Whoever has a spaniel don’t go there !!! They have shaved beautiful long ears to 0 hairs!!! My pups looked very terrible! they haven’t called me and asked if i consent!!! i have come to pick my pups and all i see he don’t have his long amazing ears any more their excuse was “there was no saving his ears because of the knots “ like WHAT??? really ??? before was all good and not no saving ??? they have also wanted to charged me extra saying the dog is hyper active and energetic, we needed second person to help and blahblahblah, and then they said but we won’t charged cuz you did not know and we did not know too that extra second person needed , i was shocked, i would not even pay extra if they said to pay!!! my dog looked like a rat, and you have destroyed his beautiful fur on his ears!!! what in the world!!?!! if you have spaniel active and hyper energetic, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t go there !!!!! save your pups 🙏

I took my dog to our usual groomers at…

I took my dog to our usual groomers at Lincoln Groomers Room, we’ve been going there for years with no issues at all but this last time I took her, she’s come out looking like a child has gone at her with scissors and to pay £50 for that is appalling I’m just very disappointed in this visit

This was, vivienne the French bulldog, first ever groomers app....

This is my French bulldogs, first experience at a groomers. I booked a signature bath and brush at the Meanwood, Leeds, West Yorkshire, branch. They were absolutely amazing. My frenchie loved every minute. I cant thank them enough for the fantastic service. I cant stop sniffing my pooch. It's great value for money and they just seem to care so much. I will be booking again. I recommend this service to everyone.

Staff are very rude if your late.

Took my long hair dachshund to Shirley groom room at pets at home for a wash & trime. First they didn't trim very much off & trimed the ears so they looked stupid. I didn't think the price was very good it seemed very expensive for what they done but the worst thing of all about my experience was the groomers rude attitude towards me because I got stuck in some traffic which made me later by 3 minutes to collect my dog. Because of this I have given 2 stars & that's only because my dog smelt nice when I retrieved her but I won't be using them again & I wouldn't recommend anyone going there unless the staff change their attitude.

Great service in Bracknell

Great service in Bracknell from friendly staff. First groom for my 18 week old puppy. I could tell Katie and Lauren love dogs and Basco was very happy. He looked great when I collected him, very fluffy and much neater than when he arrived . Looking forward to his next trim in three months

OUTSTANDING de-shed on Pug.

Young lady did a brilliant job on my little Pug, who is very nervous and on occasion, reactive !! She was very kind and patient with him. Didn’t manage to get nails cut (agreed b4 hand leave if too distressed) but he looked amazing 😻 all of his thick undercoat was gone. He looked beautiful & clean when I collected him. This was OUTSTANDING work and he left a happy little crappie. Obviously forgiven for trying to bite hands anywhere near his nails!!! I noticed the organisation books in loads of dogs one after another. I just hope the groomers are fairly compensated for all this hard work 😓 7 dogs on one day makes it hard to imagine these young ladies getting a decent relaxed break!!!

Love this groom room bispham.

Love this groom room, Elliot was brilliant, had a bad experience with another groomer so went back to groom room at bispham. Elliot knows his stuff, will be going there from now on, the only reason I went to another groomer was the price, it is expensive, but I know Elliot does a good job. Won't trust anyone else. Hope Elliot reads this. Thankyou.

Very disappointed in my cockapoo’s cut…

Very disappointed in my cockapoo’s cut today. He has been shaved to skin. Paid £70 for a full groom because apparently he had a lot of knots. I reluctantly agreed for the groom and now regretting. This was my second time at groom room and disappointed both times. They try and avoid good shaped cut even if you ask for it they always have reasons not to do. I don’t think my dog had so may knots to deserve such bad cut.

Absolutely appalling experience at…

Absolutely appalling experience at Lincoln Groom Room. Judgemental and bitchy staff who then injured my dog who was bleeding profusely from her left back leg when I took her home. They told me that they had consulted one of their Pets at Home vets who was 'not concerned' about it. I now need to take her to my own vet at great expense. The worst thing is that my previously happy, lovely dog is now traumatised and distrustful. Do not take your dog to Lincoln Groom Room at Pets at Home.

Not a great experience

I’ve also tried contacting customer service about this, but the phone number doesn’t work, emails go unanswered, and the live chat cuts you off if you don’t reply within seconds, very frustrating. This was only the second time I’ve used The Groom Room at Southend Airport in my dog’s 14 years. Our first visit years ago was lovely, warm, reassuring staff and happy dogs with little bandanas. Sadly, after losing one of my girls last year, my tiny Pom x Chi (2.3–2.7kg) had to attend alone for her birthday groom. She was understandably nervous. The staff member was polite but didn’t seem particularly warm with her. I was quoted £38 online plus a £15 deposit, but on collection was told the total was £56 an £18 increase. Even allowing for her longer coat, this felt excessive, especially as she is clearly in the xtra small dog category. She came out shaking and even bit me for the first time in her life, which shows how stressed she was. I’ve also had to trim her left dew claw myself as it hadn’t been cut. Although the haircut itself was cute, overall this experience was disappointing and I won’t be returning.
