Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently mention that the staff members are exceptionally friendly, patient, and professional when handling anxious pets. Consumers find the appointment booking process very straightforward, and many are thoroughly impressed by how smart and clean their dogs look after a grooming session.
Some reviewers were not happy with significant price increases, unexpected extra charges, and feeling like they did not receive good value for their money. A few other people also felt that staff members could be impolite, lacking proper communication, or occasionally handling pets in a less gentle manner during appointments.

Took my 2 cockapoos to the groom room, Irvine, Ayrshire. They had a full groom done. Let’s just say they both ended up needing vet treatment. One of them was severely razored burned, couldn’t see out his eyes, and had deep cuts to his chest and prepuce(private area) the other one has deep cuts to his prepuce also, and his anus. He had blood coming from his bottom. I was devastated. I couldn’t believe the mess my poor dogs were in. I contacted there head office as the groomers refused a refund and that was after them paying for the veterinary treatment which was eye drops and steroid injections. This was vet4pets. I felt the boys needed at least an antibiotic for the cuts. But nothing. I don’t trust this as they are all under the same umbrella company. So the severe injuries which I have pictures and videos of, wasn’t documented as severely on their notes? Anyway after the head office contacted the groomers to make a refund, it took the groomers 2 weeks to finally refund me. I then got offered a £50 gift voucher for the pain and suffering to not just my poor dogs, but myself also. I refused this, and they continued to try and pap me off with a £50 voucher. After a lengthy process I told them that the least they could do was offer the boys a care package. I listed items that I would accept. And I was then passed to another department. They sent me an email expressing how sorry they were that they never took how serious this situation was. And that they sincerely apologise for how they have handled this. And they agree to send tbe boys a care package each. So they agreed to send the boys care packages and myself £100 for the stress and inconvenience of the situation. I then sent them pictures of treats, toys, food and bedding etc that would suit the boys needs. As no point in a package that is no good to them. I then got an email back saying they were no longer sending a care package. And that it would £100 voucher
To get 2 dogs a large care package each. This was to include, harnesses, jumpers, raw food, a bed each, toys, treats, grooming products, calming products etc etc. £100??? I was furious as this would t even get them a bed each. So they retracted there offer. I was then to collect steroids from the vets for the deep cut to baileys chest. But with my disability I struggle to collect medication. Plus I was away on holiday for 5 days. And because of this the steroids went back into stock. But cut a long story short I got them eventually. But pets at home are saying because I struggled to get steroids that basically they aren’t paying for the ongoing treatment the boys need for their skin as they haven’t stopped scratching and biting themselves since the groom. Pets at home are saying because there is a gap between treatment them they aren’t covering it. And it’s my place to care for my dogs and have them seen at my expense? How disrespectful and disgustingly rude. They have been nothing but a nightmare to deal with. And they are now discriminating against me as my disability prevented me from collecting the steroids earlier than I did. Meaning the boys havent to get any more treatment because of this. Disgusting. Please avoid at all costs folks. I have read some horrible reviews. Pets even dying in their care. I have reported to the SSPCA also for animal cruelty. And I will be seeking legal advice. I gave this company ample opportunity to put this right. And they haven’t . And I didn’t want to make the review until they did. But they are now saying there complaint has now been exhausted. So I’m left fitting the vets bill as they are too stingy to do it even though they have insurance.
I had an appointment for my puppy booked for the past month. A day before the appointment they messaged me saying my appointment is cancelled, and they don't have another slot available for another 2 weeks even though I had already paid the deposit. Overall very disappointing experience and we won't be going there.
My dog was so anxious when she returned from here, as if she’d been really scared. When I finally got her calm enough to look at her I was horrified.
She’s a Cavapoo so I normally tell the groomer they can take her short if they need to, but she looked like she’d lost a fight with a pair of hedge clippers. Parts of her fur were taken right down to the skin, including her poor bottom which clearly had razor burn.
If you care about your dog, avoid this place like the plague!
Really great experience it was professionally handled and I got the suit I was looking for I also got the groomsmen’s suits all at a reasonable price. Could not be happier and would recommend to anyone getting married!
Booked an appt 2 weeks ago. Got called on the day and was asked if we could move our appointment half an hour earlier to 4.30pm. We agreed. A couple of hours later we got another call telling us that as our dog hadn’t been to a professional groomer for over six weeks it would be £82!! They obviously failed to mention that when we booked it. An extra £33?! Absolutely not. We cancelled and won’t be trying them again. Maybe everyone wanted an early finish today …
This is the second time now that I have had appointments cancelled by two different stores at the last moment. First St Austell and today Truro. This last time was an hour and a half before the visit was due to take place, no thought for the customer or their plans, just some lame excuse by a person who clearly does not care in the least, and was casual about it to the point of rudness, there is no thought that you might have had to drastically alter plans to make room for a visit. I will never use these people again, and I urge others to do likewise until the company employs a better standard of staff.
Our Norwich Terrier Flynn has a great time at the Peterborough Groom Room. Always trimmed exactly to our requirements and always on time. Alex is our regular contact and he provides an expert ear to our requirements and the with good humour and friendly to boot. That goes for all the Team at Peterborough Well done, Great Service Guys :-)
Our dog got hurt during groom and we were not told
Our dog got cut during her groom and we were not informed about it. When we finally noticed we called the groomer and asked for explanation. The groomer offered to apply some antiseptic and discount for the next groom, however she did not remember cutting our dog and kept on saying 'maybe she had a mat' and 'if I noticed I would've told you'. Little consideration was given to the actual event and when we asked for partial refund as we don't want to use their services again, the head office did not seem to be bothered either and said that 'the groomer told us you were satisfied with discount for next appointment', which we never asked for or agreed on.
Our dog was clearly uncomfortable with the area for number of days and we unknowingly took her out to play in water and mud on the day that she had a groom. She might've gotten an infection and all it would've taken for them is to be transparent and to tell us that she got hurt. With how big the area was it would be impossible for them not to notice when it happened.
This was my first visit with my 17 week old puppy who was booked in for a puppy groom they told he would about an hour .I was told he was too young for a groom or cut so it was basically a bath and comb .when I got back they said I needed to train him by holding his chin so they can cut his fur and if I don't train him I will struggle to find a groomer to do it!!! I was gob smacked to say the least as I thought the whole point of paying professional groomers was so you don't have to do it yourself. So I paid £30 for a bath and to be told I had to train him to stop biting the scissors!!! He's a puppy cockapoo what do they expect. They clearly don't have the experience or knowledge of dogs or puppies so should not be charging £30 for the service. So I will not be returning to pets at home and have since found a lovely professional lady who is thrilled to be grooming my baby boy . I have heard a lot of things about this company since I've been . He also was afraid to get in the car a couple of days later so who knows what was done there .
Had to leave this review but on this occasion the place was very dirty which I did not notice until I picked them up and saw the area where they kept them and my eldest dog caught something from there the vets have confirmed it as that was the only place he had been my poor dog had sickness and diarrhea for a week and he is still recovering as a result of this I will not be returning with my dogs ever
Access good. However a loosely wave haired small dog would have taken 2 hours to do rather than 1 hour for a flat coat. Strange my previous groomer (now retired) was able to do a beautiful job in an hour. Was dismissed like a naughty child. Wouldn’t use them again for anything. Eastleigh
they are unreliable and keep canceling appointments which conflicts with my schedule and is unappreciated. it is unfortuante the company is taking us for granted and is pushing customers away from your company.
The two lady's at the groom room dewsbury were absolutely amazing. I am very grateful for everything they did for my dog. Very professional and very skilled at what they do. Thank you very much and will 100% be back with Bruno.
Absolutely disgusting. My misses has just walked in with our new do that we got last week. They quoted £49, paid £15 deposit so there was £34 left to pay! Tell me how they have shaved my whole dog to bare skin, THEN to top it off she tells me she’s just paid ANOTHER £60 on my card on top of the £15 deposit I had already paid!?!? £75 to shave my dog to bare skin. I’m going as high as I can with this complaint and this review is just the start!!!! 😡😡😡😡
I’ve been taking my Cavapoo, Kingston, to the Groom Room Chingford for five years and have never missed an appointment — until recently, when I had to cancel due to an unexpected work emergency.
I called first thing on Monday morning (10:25 AM) to cancel an appointment booked for Tuesday, as I was required to cover a shift due to a colleague falling seriously ill over the weekend. I was told I’d forfeit my deposit for not giving 48 hours’ notice. However, as the business is closed on Sundays, it would have been impossible to give the full 48 hours’ notice under the circumstances.
The staff member I spoke with was condescending and dismissive, insisting that I could have sent a WhatsApp message on Sunday — something I was never informed was standard procedure for cancellations. I explained that I wasn’t aware of this, but she showed no flexibility or understanding.
Even when I tried to rebook for a later date, she insisted that unless I paid another deposit immediately, the appointment would be cancelled — completely disregarding my five years of loyalty and reliable attendance.
I found the whole experience very disappointing and feel that the policy was applied unfairly, with poor communication and a lack of basic customer care. I hope the company reconsiders how it handles these situations, especially for long-standing, dependable clients.
Absolutely thrilled with the service at Watford! My dog came back looking and smelling amazing, and the groomers were so kind and gentle. You can tell they care about the pets they work with. Highly recommend!
Shrewsbury Groom Room - booked my dog in for a bath and blow dry with a deshed, quoted £42. I dropped her off, they quoted me £45, I wasn't going to argue about a fee £s. I did sign the paperwork without checking, my fault I come to pick her up to be charged £55! I queried this to be told I'd booked her in for a full groom which I did not. I found the lady to be rude and just kept saying I'd booked a full groom and signed the paperwork. My dog has never had a full groom here. I am extremely annoyed. They are not booking what has been requested and in my eyes are just trying to rip people off. I will not be going back. Be warned.
My partner took our 11 month old cockapoo yesterday for full groom, wash and blow-dry, cut and nails clipped. I've had dogs all my life of which I'm 63 now. This dog is the friendliest dog I've ever owned and loved by everyone, she plays with our grandchildren who are very young and plays with our cat. When my partner collected her the young girl in the shop said she had growled at her and bit her. She has never bit anyone, she like a big baby. The girl in the shop had no interaction with our dog whatsoever. When my partner walked in doors with the dog she seemed very nervous, her coat was very short and shabby, I went to make a fuss of her and she stunk ,which I've experienced before in dogs that are frightened. Normally she smells beautiful after shampoo and cut then I noticed her claws didn't look like they been touched. I continued playing with when I found a bald patch behind her ear ,they clipped her down to her flesh and was red raw. These people obviously are not experienced and should not be touching people's beloved pets. I urge people to avoid this place in gypsy lane,Luton. I wish I could put pictures on here.
I have used my local (Rhyl) groom room for many years and am more than satisfied with the girls there who are excellent groomers and really pleasent with customers.
My critsism is with the company. Time was when you booked in store, you paid on completion over the counter. Now, if you book in store, you will receive a WhatsApp message with a link requesting £15 deposit. If you don't pay up to 2 days before the appointment, your appointment is cancelled. If you don't have whatsapp you won't receive a message and, when you attend your appointment, you will find it cancelled. If you do pay, you will have to pay the full amount on completion and the deposit will be refunded to your bank! It takes a special kind of idiot to come up with a scheme like that. Why not take the deposit in store at the time of booking? In my case I paid as requested and received an acknowledgement. I then received another demand for a deposit. I phoned the branch and was told that the appointment had been cancelled because I hadn't paid the deposit!! To prevent another cancellation, I paid again and received an acknowledgement. The appointment was kept. I have contacted groom room head office (online as there is no phone number) and am awaiting their reply. I have only been refunded one of the two deposits. I don't book online because my dog prefers a particular groomer and you can't select one online. The local service is superb and in no way do I wish to criticise the lovely girls there. Pity head office doesn't follow their example.
