Restaurante Almazen de Salinas, desinformacion y retencion de reserva
Restaurante Almazen de Salinas, Alava, SPAIN
I booked a table for 5 people for the 13th July, after having paid the pre-deposit of 150 euros. I did this is the web of the restaurant, not in a booking platform!!
2 days and 21 hours before the booking date, we had to cancel the reservation and we were told by the Manager of the restaurant that the deposit will be reimbursed to the card with which I made the payment.
They said that it was fine as the cancellation has been made with more than 48 hours of notice.
2 weeks later and no money back!!
When called to the restaurant, they have now changed the story;
- It is nothing to do with them , is the responsibility of " The Fork ". This is false as the refund policy is established by the restaurant and the booking was made directly in their website, not in a booking platform.
It could be that The Fork has been contracted by them to deal with their bookings but this is irrelevant in this scenario.
- Now they said that it is 72 hours and not 48 hours notice. If they would have told us that when we cancelled the booking, on the phone directly with the restaurant, we would have most likely make an extra effort to attend for the booked lunch, so we do not lose the 150 euros. But not, they did not told us that at the appropriate time.
- So they knew when we cancelled the booking on the phone with 70 hours notice ( instead of the 72 hours that now we are told are required ) that they will not refund the money but instead of informing us of this, they told us that all was fine. They deliberately lied to us.
And my final and most important reflection comes here;
" If a company is prepared to play this unethical games with their clients, what they will be prepared to do behind close doors in many other areas of their business"
Wheres is the less than one star button? Any company that hides the cancellation under 9 clicks is a horrible company. I had to call for help and the agent was about the worst person ive ever dealt with, amazed they lasted this long
I’ve had a frustrating experience every time dealing with Yelp’s sales and support teams.
First, I was told during sign-up that I would not be charged for 4 months, but I was billed over $1,200 after 2 months. When I contacted support to resolve the issue, the charge was ultimately denied and never corrected. I was told I had to speak with the person that signed me up and they could not be reached.
After paying this amount, my search results and visibility were still very poor, which made the situation even more disappointing.
Separately from the billing issue, the sales outreach has also been difficult to deal with. Representatives frequently schedule appointments or calls at times when my business is closed on purpose. Emails and follow-ups often go unanswered, and returning calls can take a long time. After waiting for over an hour they will answer the phone and hang up on you in a second or the line will simply drop.
When you do reach someone, you may be transferred between multiple people who say they cannot help. Fixing a duplicate account took several inquiries. Some conversations have felt more argumentative than helpful, and overall it has been a very time-consuming process.
I also do not like the basis of the business model. It feels like businesses are given pages with incomplete or missing information and then pressured to pay in order to make the listing look decent or function properly. The ad program that was supposed to be free had zero real life sale conversions.
Businesses rely on clear communication, accurate billing information, and responsive support. Based on my experience, Yelp needs significant improvement in these areas.
Yelp are absolutely scammers. While opening an account with them they said they will be no charges and the charges would be initiated next month but later 2 weeks they charged me $250 and I didn’t any single lead from Yelp. All the clicks were made by their supporting team to show the clicks on my account and to charge.
Absolutely ridiculous service and scamming.
Used this to find a place for dinner. Picked a highly rated spot, drove all the way there, and it was closed for renovations. Nobody had updated the listing. The app is getting unreliable.
As a small business owner, my experience with Yelp has been extremely disappointing.
Our company has been serving our community since 1948, and we've worked hard to earn our reputation through honest service and customer satisfaction. We recently discovered that more than 20 legitimate 5-star reviews from actual customers have been placed in Yelp's "Not Currently Recommended" section and do not count toward our public rating.
When I contacted Yelp Support, I was told the review recommendation system is fully automated and cannot be changed or reviewed manually. While I understand the need to prevent fake reviews, a system that hides genuine positive reviews while leaving negative reviews visible creates a misleading representation of a business's reputation.
As a result, potential customers—and even AI-powered recommendation tools—may see an inaccurate picture of our business despite hundreds of positive reviews on other platforms.
I believe Yelp should provide business owners with greater transparency about why reviews are filtered and offer a meaningful process for appealing legitimate customer reviews. Until then, I have little confidence that the rating shown on Yelp accurately reflects the quality of many businesses.
This company is a huge scam. I signed up with them hoping to be able to leave thumbtack. Well horrible idea. I “used” their service for 1.5 months. They charged me $260….not bad right? Well it is bad. I had over 60 job requests, how many of them turned into a paid job you may ask? ZERO. ZERO. I reply to EVERY request. I have been doing thumbtack for 2 years and haven’t had any problems. So I know how to obtain business (Yelp will try and convince you that you aren’t messaging them correct, but if I have had plenty of business on thumbtack, I think I actually do know how). How many replies back did I get? THREE. YES THREE. So let’s recap. They refused to refund me my $260. The $260 paid for 60+ job requests that were probably fake or AI. Not a single converted to a paid job. One would think that in nearly 2 months you would have had multiple jobs. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS OWNER. They try and bribe you to stay. It’s pathetic. If they would just do as they advertised, they wouldn’t have to beg you to stay. They must be really dumb though, why on earth would I want to continue paying for this garbage? It’s definitely not enjoyable and I am literally getting money taken from me. It might be a good website for consumers to see ratings, but on a business side it is useless. Yelp brags about having such great reviews….i believed that….til I saw trustpilot. 1.4 stars?! That’s being generous. I don’t think they even earn 1.
I tried yelp 1 month free trial as a business, I got 8 leads, but about 100 spam calls trying to get me to pay more. Like dude the free trial doesn't even get you anything, if you want to get actual leads you have to pay, even during the free trial. And again the amount of spam calls from us numbers that were from India were appalling, id never recommend yelp for a business.
I needed an electrician quickly. I looked on line for someone who had a good reputation and found Rey Perez. He answered on 2nd ring and was just finishing his day-said he'd be here in 30 minutes. He came on time and assessed my problem. Professional, polite, and knowledgeable-he solved all my problems in little over an hour at a very reasonable price. Hire this guy-you will be happy you did. He has my business from now on.
Yelp offer of free business listing-so completed the profile, after a month of waiting for my buisiness to be verified it seems as if this will never happen.
Attempt to contact Yelp using number provided did not work as my call kept being disconected. I contact via pissedconsumer.com - no reply.
The question is, what use is a review website if a] you cannot add a buisiness and b] you cannot communicate with them.
Clearly you need to question anything and everything read on Yelp.
Wish I had read the reviews on TrustPilot before wasting my time.
I signed up for the free trial then life happened and I completely forgot about it until they took over $200 out of my account and are refusing to refund my money. I never used their service I didnt do anything and they still wont give me a refund. I've never had this happen. Every other site that ive signed up for the free trial and would forget to cancel has ALWAYS given me a full refund with no issues. But not this company.
★☆☆☆☆
If I could give less than one star, I would.
My experience with Yelp Ads has been extremely disappointing.
The sales process felt aggressive, and canceling the service has been far more difficult than signing up.
There is no clear option to cancel online through the app or business dashboard. Instead, I was told I must call during business hours just to stop my advertising.
As a small business owner, I found this process frustrating and unnecessarily time-consuming.
I also felt pressured during my interactions with Yelp.
Businesses should be able to cancel their subscriptions as easily as they can start them.
I cannot recommend Yelp Ads based on my experience.
BEWARE OOF YELP ADS FOR THEY AREN'T EVALUATED PROPERLY!
Review for "SAL'S LANDSCAPING".
At this gardener's interview, he state he is a gardener in all sense of what a gardener is. And the ycharge $150._ an hour.
After being hired, this so called gardening service said they don't water! Then at the second visit only worked one half hour but wanted an hour's pay!
This gardening service is not a gardener at all.
Not plant knowledge, or care at using pesticides of fungicides, or any knowledge of soil conditioning.
All what gardeners according to the definition of a gardener states.
The people at CALIFORNIA MOTORS DIRECT in Montclair, CA, are the best in what they do! If you are looking for a quality used car, at a great price, this is the place to go! Great customer service, knowledgeable salespeople that pay attention to detail with professionalism. I bought a car yesterday and found the color, trim, and price I was looking for! Ask for George.
As the title says, this site is quite simply, horrible. Everything about it is a pay-to-win scam.
Yelp pays to keep their results at the top of Google searches, which they can easily afford because their entire business model is; The more you pay, the better your business is rated and more visible it is, on their site. Leave an honest negative review of a business that's paying for ads/promotion on Yelp, all of a sudden it's gone. Funny how business that aren't pumping money into Yelp don't get that "benefit".
The shady practices continue on mobile, where Yelp forces people to use the app once a mobile device is detected. This is because they have some of the most intrusive, privacy invading, permissions in the app. The app is also crammed with ads, on top of the businesses paying for "protection" from negative reviews and boosting their visibility.
Finally, it's obvious many, MANY reviews are fake, just compare reviews on Yelp to those for the same business on Google.
Terrible app and unreliable reviews. I have used its “project” service much to my dismay. The chat bot or algorithm sent me to incorrect businesses and wasted my time. Once a project was completed or no longer needed I could not delete it from the project list. I deleted Yelp instead.
I had a very disappointing experience with Yelp Ads.
I signed up for a 30-day free trial on May 22, 2026, and received absolutely zero legitimate leads. Instead, my business line was flooded with spam and solicitation calls from people who said they found my information through my Yelp ad. I have call logs, screenshots, and transcriptions documenting this.
Because the ads were disrupting my business and producing no results, I canceled on June 2, 2026, well before the trial ended. I also received an email from Yelp confirming the cancellation.
Despite that, Yelp charged me in July.
When I contacted Yelp, they refused to issue a refund and suggested that there were plenty of resources available to cancel, even though I had already canceled and had written confirmation proving it. I provided documentation, but they still closed the matter and said the decision was final.
I have proof of the cancellation, the charge, the spam calls, and my communications with Yelp. I have disputed the charge with my bank.
Small-business owners should be extremely cautious and save every cancellation email and screenshot.
Extraordinary customer service! We originally purchased custom window treatments for our entire home from Laura’s Draperies in 2011. Recently, two of them needed some repairs. When I called for service, the team was incredibly helpful and efficient in getting everything fixed. The most amazing part? After owning them for 15 years, they backed their product completely and charged us absolutely nothing for the repair. Standing behind your work like that after a decade and a half is unheard of. This is a spectacular, honorable company to do business with!
