Customer support is often described as completely unhelpful, making it extremely difficult to resolve billing disputes or reach anyone.
Some reviewers were happy with the professional and efficient service provided by skilled contractors who arrived right on time. People also appreciated timely job completion, neat workspaces, and very polite communication throughout the entire project duration. They have sent me three leads which I couldn’t reach because no one respond on calls or messages and they charge me $300. They refused to give any reimbursement.

I tried this company out. I gave it a good effort. I put $150 into it. I built a page I had no success so I stopped using it 10 months later. I got a random hit on my card for $150 Thumbtack refused to refund it. They said it was a refill. I canceled the program explained to them that I had using in eight months and they stated that they cannot refund my $150 refused to do it then they sent me to an email that I believe was AI. I don’t think I was able to talk to a real human and I have not received my refund and they told me it was just gonna sit in an account until I wanted to come back and use it so I viewed that as horrible practice to try to lure somebody back to try their system again bottom line is my money should’ve been refunded. I didn’t approve the $150 and they refuse to give it back.

as a pro who has spent over $20,000 on leads, they truly dropped the ball when i got charged $1k on leads i didnt need. They have a stupid option where you can only pause your business for upto 30 days. Well I was on vacation and their stupid automatic business activation came on. Of course they couldnt refund me. They have such weird and dumb attributes to their platform and Im sure they have this issue every single day with pros forgetting to turn off automatic reactivation. A pro has to turn it off every 30 days and cant afford to forget.

We deeply value your long-term partnership and understand the importance of managing your schedule closely. The temporary pause feature is built for brief breaks. For extended vacations, completely turning off your targeting preferences keeps your account inactive until you are ready to return. If you need further support, please reach out.
My experience with Trust Decking LC (IMMER) was exceptional the work of repairing my deck was done to my satisfaction; it’s beautiful; built with care and professionalism. The job was done in a timely manner. The contractor was pleasantly easy to communicate with and answered all of my concerns. I would recommend Trust Decking LC to anyone who wants a beautiful deck that they can be proud of. Thank you again Trust Decking LC for a well done job.

I had my first service from Pure Horizon Landscaping on July 10th which included mow, weed treatment and trimming of a few shrubs. Zack arrived timely and provided a quote for my requested services. He was very knowledgeable and provided me with information on how to care for shrubs and trees for healthy seasonal blooms. I plan to do hire Zach for a landscaping project in my backyard.

Thumbtack absolutely sucks. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Their so called pros do show up for jobs. I agreed to pay one $100 just to go my airbnb and realign the shower door - no actual work - just realign the door. Not only did he not show up, he didn't even let me know that he wasn't going to show up. So I had guest arriving to a stuck door that I could have had someone else to fix or I could have drove the 2 hours to fix it - had I known ahead of time. It makes me sick that companies operate like that. Thumbtack has NO access point to allow me to submit a compliant or even contact them about the problem. Their pretend customer service page goes to a 404 This Page is No Longer Available error. They just make money off folks with ZERO responsibility.

Not even 1 star, they don’t deserve it. This app is a scam. Don’t use it.
After only 3 days of using it, they charged me $545 for “leads” that were completely fake. The people either never answered or left weird comments that didn’t make sense.
I requested a refund, and they agreed because my account was less than one week old, so please be very careful. The idea might sound good at first, but keep in mind that these are not real clients.
After 3 weeks, they returned my money, but not the full amount.
If you are a personal trainer or coach, believe me, you don’t need another headache.

It is disheartening to hear that your early experience with our lead matching left you feeling so frustrated. Thumbtack is designed to connect pros with serious local customers, and we recognize how frustrating it is when initial outreach does not align with your expectations.
If you would like more support navigating this, please give our Support team a call at (866) 501-5809.
A trap for contractors. Thumbtack lives off the fees charged to Pros, yet offers zero protection. They allow non-customers to leave fake 1-star reviews even when no work was performed. I provided proof that no transaction occurred (they even refunded the lead fee), yet support refused to remove the unfair feedback. They also sell 'leads' with masked, non-functional numbers, preventing you from ever connecting directly with a real customer. To make matters worse, refunds are not returned to your bank account but frozen as platform credit. They hold your business funds hostage. Avoid this platform at all costs."

we hired someone thru you to do a minor electrical fix. He showed up one day and said he would be back with help to cross attic, after several "excuses" he never showed up again so we made the adjustment ourselves. Certainly not the correction we hoped for.

I enrolled on Friday, May 14, 2026, around 8:00 p.m. Shortly afterward, I noticed unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account for services that were unrelated to what I had signed up for.
Use caution before providing your banking information. In my experience, funds were withdrawn without my authorization for services I did not request or receive. I have since filed a dispute with my financial institution regarding these transactions.
Based on my experience, I found this business's billing practices to be concerning and unprofessional.

I hired Aquatic Labz LLC through Thumbtack to level and install my above-ground soft-sided pool. The work was completed substandard — the foundation was unlevel, the liner had wrinkles, and unremoved dirt was left behind. I paid in full and the contractor never returned to fix the issues despite my attempts to contact them. I subsequently discovered the contractor's Thumbtack account has been deactivated.
I filed a claim under the Thumbtack Guarantee, which explicitly states: "If the job isn't done as agreed, you can get your money back. And if there's property damage, you're protected." The job was clearly not done as agreed — documented with photographs and text messages.
Thumbtack denied my claim on the grounds that I began remediation work before independent estimates were obtained. However the contractor abandoned the job and never returned, and I have young children who needed to use the pool. I had no choice but to take action.
Furthermore finding a contractor for soft-sided above-ground pool work is extremely specialized — very few contractors perform this work. Thumbtack's requirement for 2-3 independent estimates is not a realistic standard in this situation.
Thumbtack is advertising a Guarantee that it does not honor in practice. Their published promise — "If the job isn't done as agreed, you can get your money back" — is misleading and not applied as advertised.
I am requesting a full refund of the amount paid to Aquatic Labz LLC through the Thumbtack platform.

WHAT THE ACTUAL DUCK
I am paying for leads outside of normal work hours. I have to hide my business to stop this.
Sometimes when I hide my business, like for the holiday weekend, I still get leads.
My service area got tripled without my consent, so now I am paying for leads two states over that I cannot service. My lead time settings are not honored.
When I tried to talk to customer service about this, they just 'wrapped up' mid-conversation. They denied this was TT's fault. They send links to show me how to set my settings. The issues is not setting the settings, it is RESPECTING THE SETTINGS. This has been weeks leading up to this. Seriously hiding my business for the next two weeks to contemplate if the benefits outweigh the negatives of this platform.
I don't have the margins to spend money on leads I can't service. Thumbtack might single-handedly kill my business.
Reply from Thumbtack2026-07-10
Discovering that your service area was expanded and lead time settings weren't respected is incredibly stressful, especially when it impacts your marketing margins. Pros deserve complete confidence that their targeted areas and hours are strictly honored by the system.
We apologize for the experience you had with our Support team. We want to make this right! Please get back in touch with us at (866) 501-5809. It's important to us that our pros are receiving the correct leads!
i need to put a negative 5 star but cant.
I was a contractor on Thumbtack and they too over $600 out of my account when i was on the set up for putting in $250 and stop putting money in they started to pull small increment out of my account with out permission.
Cant get them to refund money.. I stoped because the customer never call back or answear the call. and i fell they are just creating number to bill me. I would recomend to stay away with this fraudulat company!!!!

Discovering unexpected charges on your account is incredibly stressful, especially when trying to manage your business's budget. Our platform applies upfront lead fees based on your profile's targeting preferences rather than completed work, but hearing that your settings didn't match your expectations is deeply concerning.
If you would like more clarification regarding your most recent refund request, please give our Support a call at (866) 501-5809.
I cannot recommend thumbtack pro as a video editor or video producer. The last straw was moments ago when they denied several hundred dollars in lead refunds. I was getting multiple $400 jobs when my preferences were set to minimum $700. They denied that my preferences were set as this and denied the refunds. If I’m paying more in leads than making from the platform and I can’t set minimum lead fees, then what is the point of this platform?
ETA 7/7/26
Thumbtack you probably didn’t think I would, but I called the number you gave me. $400 or so is a lot of money. You clearly don’t know that the number you gave can NOT help with refunds. The refunds disputes email is the one to handle this, and there’s no one to call. He said “I see you replied to the refund denial email, but they did not receive it because responses don’t make it to them.” Another huge issue since I directly replied to the email address I sent the dispute to.
Why the heck would this team now help me anyway. They are lying or going by inaccurate information that my lead minimums allowed leads under $400.
There is so much wrong here. The people at the top of Thumbtack will never see this, nor would even care if they did see it; that a woman small business owner depends on this platform for her livelihood.
I cannot wait to figure out other lead pipelines so I can get off this platform and delete my profile for good. Oh and by the way, I waited on hold for 43 minutes to hear Thumbtack couldn’t help me. Obviously everyone is calling with issues.

It is disheartening to hear that your experience with our targeting filters and refund policy has forced you to step away from the platform.
We would like to look into where things might be going wrong in your account. If you're up for it, please give our Support team a call at (866) 501-5809 so that we can dive in a little deeper.
This platform is expensive being charged per lead. All leads and I mean all are always either out of my set service area or not a service I provide. I spend more time managing refund requests than receiving viable leads to generate revenue.
Another issue is that when refunds are approved and are posted to my Account balance, immediately and conveniently an
another bad lead is received for the exact same amount that was just refunded. It's a vicious circle and a game apparently.
Another issue is when a lead is sent thumbtack legdges I was not charged for a lead, but when immediately looking T my small balance, once again that lead conveniently is this cost of that same exact balance remaing in my account then then shows zero a
Account balance. Verifying that I was in fact charged even though thumbtack indicated I was not.
Horrible platform for service providers and just games. Service prod apparently are only cash cows. This platform has substantially hurt my business. Because of all the time waisted and the amount of time funds are refunded in order to initiate contact with customers regarding open leads which can't be done with a zero account balance unless I take a risk to add even more money while waiting for those refunds.
How can thumbtack improve?
Stop playing games and playing with the business owners funds.
Also I have experienced fake leads and when asked to be refunded. When I receive a response that refund is denied, I then have to spend more time to appeal the decision. The decision why a refund is denied is often. Not based On why I declined the lead. For example just today , I declined a lead because it was out of my set service area. The reasonn thumbtack gave for the denied refund was based on my responsibility to manage my availability. Obviously one does not have to do with the other. I have continue to play this game with thumbtack daily while my business continues to suffer while using this ridiculous platform.
Set ice providers beware!

Hearing that our platform feels like a frustrating loop that is actively hurting your business is tough, especially when you are spending more time managing disputes than handling real jobs.
Thumbtack is designed to charge for connections based on your specific targeting and profile preferences, but we understand how incredibly stressful it is when out-of-scope requests impact your cash flow or when a refund denial doesn't seem to match the reason you submitted.
We would strongly encourage you to reach back out to our Support team at (866) 501-5809. We would be happy to add more clarification around why a refund was not granted and help you better navigate the incoming charges you are seeing on your account. We want you to find success!
